A Bit Disappointed
Ah, when I saw the trailer for the drama, I was super excited to get started because so many have dubbed it as a 'serious' drama that is the best out there in terms of Thai Dramas. However, I was a bit disappointed with things. - It was a good drama, but I was far from impressed.
The plot was amazing, very interesting and very intriguing. However, they were full of holes that even the blind could see. And that was why I was so disappointed because for once I found a Thai drama that wasn't so bad in terms of the casts' acting and voila, I was presented with many hard-to-dismiss plotholes.
[[[[[ SPOILER TIME, AVOID READING PASS THIS SENTENCE IF YOU HATE SPOILERS ]]]]]
Here's the plotholes that I couldn't digest blindly:
1. When Jane's body was found, Tan was said to be her boyfriend when he was not. He found her body and they simply assumed that he was her boyfriend. (Seriously?! I don't how the police do their job in Thailand, but they sure wouldn't have just 'assumed' instead of investigating right?)
2. When it was revealed that Jane was actually killed and didn't actually commit a suicide, we were never presented with the events where people close to her were investigated. (Seriously?! I thought the first course of action would be to question people?!)
3. When Bun was attacked by an unknown guy at his home, his first thought was to go stay with the most suspicious guy within his reach simply because he helped fend off the attacker. (Seriously?! No suspicion, simply letting yourself enter an unknown territory when you haven't even figured out what's happening. For God sake, the guy even owned a gun at home!)
4. Rung and Jane. Rung said that she loved her sister but she sacrificed her for the sake of her business, saying that she had had to do it as well before this so Jane should do it as well for the same reason. And Jane agreed. And why, even for the sake of the said business, Rung was willing to kill her own sister. (I have nothing to say about this, that is just too fucked up, beyond saving.)
5. The falling at the cliff? (or was it into a river?) event? The police conducted a search and couldn't find both Tan and Bun when they were just there at the bank. (Unrealistic level: Out of The World)
AND THERE WERE SO MANY OTHER SCENES AND EVENTS THAT I COULDN'T BE BOTHERED TO NOTE DOWN. AS WELL.

Acting/Cast : The male character deserved the wooden spoon award during the first couple of episodes but I think he got better with each episode. The heroine was kinda okay. The rest of the casts were fantastic though.
Music : I don't like the sound effects, they were kinda overdone and sometimes very inappropriate at moments however I love the OSTs a lot, and it's very nice to listen to (I don't even know I could enjoy a Thai song where I understand nothing lol I need more of them!)
Rewatch Value : I'll watch it again someday, because it is one rather interesting show full of laughter.
Overall : The quality is pretty okay, nothing over the top amazing but it's worth watching if you're curious about it. :)

Don't get me wrong, I loved the movie. The premise was interesting, about life and death and love and friendhip. The casts made me feel for them especially Kitamura Takumi as the young shy Shiga and then Oguri Shun as the lost older Shiga. Shiga is one very relatable character to me. As a loner as well, to me his hesitance at first to accept Yamauchi's friendship was very adorable yet sad at the same time, why, kindness befuddles people like us. Hamabe Minami's character as Yamauchi was so adorable and easy to love as well. Her cheerfulness was nice to see as a contrast to Shiga's silent looks lol Together, the three of them delivered the story pretty well in my opinion.
However, like I said earlier, the story line was too familiar to my liking, the dying hero/heroine is sadly too overused in Japanese shows in my opinion (and this came from someone who hasn't even watched much Japanese movies). Some parts in this movie feel like a copy of Koizora to me except for some minor differences and although I cried a lot watching "Koizora", I didn't cry that badly with this movie because although I personally think that "I Want to Eat Your Pancreas" is much well delivered in terms of acting and cinematography than "Koizora", I think it lacks 'important moments' that can make it one memorable movie. In other word, it's slightly 'bland' compared to "Koizora".
But still, I like the movie because despite all, it was a very nice movie.

Before I start my lil rant, lemme clarify this : You Make Me Dance is not a bad drama, just not my kind of drama. With that being said, I still have to honestly say that I believe my already low IQ dropped a lot after watching all the eight short episodes. The plot was ridiculous, and the plotholes were so blatantly in my face. The cheesiness was full on from the first till the last episodes. I get that it was a short drama, but it felt like they couldn't care less about telling a story that makes sense.
Lemme point out the things that didn't work for me:
1. The debt premise. - The debtor lived in a fancy house and didn't even have any real job to sustain himself - he simply danced his heart out, hoping that his debt will magically disappear. Why oh why?
2. The hurt leg. - Someone intentionally hurt your leg, an important part of your body that your entire life depended on, and voila you simply let them walk away freely from you without even getting angry at them? Mind you, you don't even deserve it in the first place and didn't even get as much as an apology from it.
3. The I'll push my beloved away and hurt their feelings and be cold just because I gotta go somewhere far. What kind of bs is this in this modern era?!
4. The fancy house and the lack of job. Dude, if you were really that struggling with money, find sth less fancy to live in and get a freaking job!
5. The tied legs. Dude, use your hands and freaking undo it instead of hopping around like an idiot!
There were many others but I'm too tired to type them all out.
And I think the acting was pretty bad for a Kdrama with unnatural scenes playing throughout the 8 episodes.

Cringy
I have nothing to say about the plot, because I couldn't focus enough on it due to the fact that most of the casts were so cringy and unnatural on camera. (Save for Gene (acted by Up Poompat Iam-samang - he was amazing, one of the best I 've seen from a Thai Drama actually) and then some of the supporting characters like the director etc)I have watched a few Thai dramas actually, and it never failed to amuse me how awkward the casts can be on camera. One and two ocassions would be fine, but when it is thrown too often into the mix, even the most interesting of shows would turn bad. It made me wonder, was it a Thai Drama thing? (But, like I said, Up Poompat Iam-samang was amazing at his role, why can't others be too?)
I wish I could ignore the acting and just focus on the story, but I couldn't because they were super unconvincing.
End of rant.

So much hope dashed just like that..
It started off as a great show...but then it turned weird to the point that their actions became ridiculously unbelivable. Sometimes people forgot that psychopaths may be crazy but they do not defy logic just because of that. Furthermore, it was bad enough that they portrayed the psychopath as a I-could-never-get-caught-because-the-universe-is-always-working-in-my-favor with lil to no effort but they also had to portray the side characters as people with shockingly forgiving hearts with nonexistent sense of logic. They skipped the fear of the criminal and went straight to turning into accomplices. My eyes had quite a blast rolling at the illogical plot.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
An Interesting Medical Drama With a Bit of Everything
This is not a fresh from the oven review, I finished the drama eons ago and never felt like writing a review on it. However, I need to practice reveiwing for my book blog so here I am rambling, while trying hard not to get distracted. I'm failing it, I know.[[[[ REVIEW WARNING ]]]]
1. I'm not a professional reviewer, so most of the time I couldn't care less bout the characteristics that a proper review must have.
2. I have no idea what I'm talking about. For example, I can't even tell the different between a bass and an electric guitar - and this will show through the entire review.
3. English is not my main language, so yeah, don't wonder too long over my weird wordings and stuff, because it is more likely that I myself also have no idea what I'm trying to say in the first place.
[[[[ THE STORY ]]]]
The drama was a medical drama featuring five friends who have been friends since their undergraduate days. They went to the same medical school and then worked at the same hospital (as for at the moment, previously? I have no idea..). And oh, they also formed a band for fun.
[[[[ THE CHARACTERS ]]]]
First, there was Lee Ik Jun, the single father family guy.
Secondly, there was Ahn Jung Won, the rich paediatrician who wanted to be a priest.
Thirdly, there was Kim Jun Wan, a friendly reformed playboy(?) who was secretly dating Lee Ik Jun's sister.
Fourthly, there was Yang Suk Hyung, a softie divorcee who was scarred by his failed marriage.
Lastly, there was Chae Song Hwa, the only girl in the group, a sweetheart everyone in the group swarmed to.
[[[[ THE DRAMA ]]]]
The drama featured:
1. Friendship. Everyone were friends and the drama brilliantly showed how they started and then how they grew as friends through the many years they were together. Each character was different but somehow they complimented each other. They loved each other and were always there to support and protect each other.
2. Romance. It was a slow burn romance and as with the writer's other amazing works, we were constantly left guessing as to where and how the romance will go. It is complicated, but amazing as well.
3. Medical Stuff. They were doctors and the drama portrayed their daily lives and interactions with their patients. It was never over the top like so many other medical dramas, it was more towards the realistic kind (not that it is really realistic (come on, it is a drama after all), just not absurd like other dramas). Every treatment was showed nicely, without making the doctors act like sought after doctors that were super brilliant and can magically heal everyone sent to them.
4. Music. I don't remember much of the music but I do admit that it wasn't grating on my nerve so it wasn't so bad. The actors sang the songs themselves, and many said that they were good at it. However, since I'm tone deaf and music deaf, I simply base my opinion on my taste alone. With that being said, I didn't like the music or the band thingy, it was boring to me.
[[[[ MY THOUGHTS ]]]]
Just like the writer's other works (they were all my favourites dramas), I loved this drama. It wasn't overly focused on romance and we were treated with heavy doses of friendship, humors and angsts as well. And the producers and writers were amazing good at what they do, portraying everything in a way that you enjoy every moments of it. And they don't only focus on the main characters only, they also paid attention to the side ones as well. I loved not only the main characters, but the side characters as well.
However, I won't go as far as saying this drama is my favorite drama ever (it is still Reply 1988) because I still find flaws that I couldn't accept. Nah, everything was amazing so these so called flaws were just my preferences actually. What didn't work for me (hence the not perfect rating) were:
1. The cliffhanger. Duh, life is short, I don't need that.
2. The characters' choices. Yeah, I know it's their choices but I choose to dislike them nonetheless lol
3. The episodes. Why so few, I need moreeeeeeeeee TT.TT
[[[[ THE CONCLUSION ]]]]
Hospital Playlist is an amazing drama, watch it. Or don't watch it. Just do whatever you feel like doing ;)
