Hi there! I joined MDL to keep track of the dramas I've watched and, well, because I like lists. In time, I found that it's a great place to meet amazing people as well!
I mainly watch cdrama & kdrama. I still tend towards revenge dramas, but I also enjoy Chinese fantasy (wuxia/xianxia...) a lot. It sets my mind free (I am an escapist by conviction). The occasional rom-com (sans misunderstandings) is also welcome.
Here's a little list of mine:
My first Asian dramas: "Pinocchio" & "City Hunter" - they got me hooked!
My first sageuk: "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds"
My first cdrama: "Eternal Love"
My first (to date only) Taiwanese drama: "Triad Princess"
My first (to date only) jdrama: "Kimi Ni Todoke/From Me to You" (actually, the first one I started was "Good Morning Call", but it was too painful, I dropped it, never again)
MDL groups I joined: Drama-Lovers Book Club & Historical Dramas Club
Some of my favourite actors: wait... no... can't decide, sorry; here are some of my favourite characters instead (random order):
the city hunter (LMH version - you probably know how the first dramas you watch hold a special place in your heart)
Bai Feng Hei Xi (in that order, if you please)
Wei Wuxian (if someone like that has your back, you don't need to be afraid of anything at all)
Jiang Xiaoyu (great sense of humour, but bad spending habits, I must say)
Sang Zhi (just because she's likeable and relatable)
Goo Chan Sung (supportive and unashamed of being less powerful than the FL)
Lee Seon Joon (well, it's that one-of-my first-dramas thing again)
Vincenzo Cassano, Hong Cha Young (meting out justice in the coolest way ever - not shipping them though)
Okay, I'll stop now, or I'll go on forever!
What I don't like:
Open endings or unnecessary sad endings
Chinese censorship of drama endings (and who knows how much else they mess up behind the scenes)
Plain stupidity and misunderstandings
Bad writing, one-dimensional characters; weak FL with Cinderella syndrome; blatantly egoistic characters
(High) school settings, with very few exceptions (such as "Extraordinary You", highly recommended)
Army & medical dramas don't click with me, neither do daily dramas (I didn't try hard, though)
Horror (I'm easily frightened) & torture scenes, especially when they involve kids
The fact that my plan-to-watch list grows ever longer while my time for watching grows ever shorter
Check out my watchlist if you like - my ratings are mostly lenient (good cinematography and sound aren't as important to me as likeable characters) and they are also very subjective, depending on my mood.
You read my ramblings to the very end? Thanks a lot! Feel free to message me! :)
