Dramas & Specials Watched In 2020
These are all the dramas and special episodes I started and / or completed this year. Dropped dramas are not included.
I tried to be vague with my comments because I didn't want to spoil anything major in case one of you wants to watch any of these dramas.
-
1. 2gether: The Series
Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
- One of the most adorable things I've watched.
- Simple concept, but overall, well executed.
- Loved the first two thirds of the drama but the last few episodes weren't so good.
-
2. 3 Nen A Gumi: Ima kara Mina-san wa, Hitojichi Desu
Japanese Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
- Wasn't that predictable, but when I got answers, they didn't shock or surprise me.
- Didn't leave a big impression on me.
- Had a good message but felt a little cliché and underwhelming.
-
3. Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!
Japanese Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
- This is the best BL of 2020 and you can't change my mind; I'll re-watch it until the day I die.
- Kurosawa and Adachi are relationship goals!!! They are the healthiest and cutest couple I've ever seen.
- Now my standards for BL dramas are so high that I just hope next year's BL dramas are at least half as good as Cherry Magic is.
-
4. A Korean Odyssey
Korean Drama - 2017, 20 episodes
- I was forced to watch it by one of my best friends.
- The female lead was too annoying and the male lead too unlikeable.
- Boring storyline and mediocre characters.
-
5. Alt Gameboys
Filipino Special - 2020, 1 episode
- A simple but enjoyable special episode about Terrence.
- I felt proud of him for showing that he had learned from his mistakes.
- I wasn't surprised by the "big reveal" because it was very obvious.
-
6. Ancient Detective
Chinese Drama - 2020, 24 episodes
- Only cared about the two male leads; they had great chemistry.
- The romance felt too unnecessary.
- The storyline was fine but I wasn't hooked.
-
7. Arsenal Military Academy
Chinese Drama - 2019, 48 episodes
- Took me a while to care about the story and the characters.
- Very funny and entertaining, especially because of the fact that everyone was either in love with the female lead or in love with someone who liked the female lead.
- I was surprised to see so many familiar faces from a previous drama I had watched.
-
8. Battle of Changsha
Chinese Drama - 2014, 32 episodes
- Couldn't care much about the family.
- The story was kind of boring.
- I didn't like nor dislike the romance between the main characters.
-
9. Because of You
Taiwanese Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
- Only cared about the main couple.
- It was funny to hear one of the main leads speaking Korean while the rest spoke Mandarin.
- Too short to have a proper and well developed story.
-
10. Better Days
Filipino Drama - 2020, 6 episodes
- I just wonder what was the point of making this drama because nothing happened!!!
- The characters were so one-dimensional I couldn't care less about them.
- At least the cinematography was nice.
-
11. Postnatal Care Center
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
- Funny, silly, and sometimes weird, but it had great messages.
- I was slightly more invested in the backstories of the secondary characters than the protagonist's.
- The babies stole the show... they were so cute!!!
-
12. Boku dake ga Inai Machi
Japanese Drama - 2017, 12 episodes
- Great adaptation of the manga / anime.
- Very interesting and well executed concept.
- Since I already knew what was going to happen, I wasn't surprised by (almost) anything.
-
13. Capture Lover
Chinese Drama - 2020, 10 episodes

- Poor acting, screenwriting, and story line.
- Only watched it because I wanted to know how it was possible for China to release a BL drama.
-
14. Craving You
Taiwanese Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
- I don't really know what to say besides the fact that it was very average.
- I've seen worst BLs this year, so I couldn't give it anything less than a 7/10.
- I couldn't feel the chemistry between the main leads until the very last scene (if you know what I mean).
-
15. Eulachacha Waikiki
Korean Drama - 2018, 20 episodes
- I didn't find it as funny as everyone claims it to be.
- Yoon Ah was way too clumsy and naïve (at least at the beginning).
- The baby deserved more screen time!
-
16. Extracurricular
Korean Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
- Very interesting concept.
- I wanted to slap Gyuri for all the things she did to Jisoo.
- I was very frustrated and at the same time intrigued while watching it.
-

-
18. Futmalls.com
Taiwanese Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
- I wasn't expecting to cry with this drama.
- The characters and story were interesting.
- I hope there's a second season because I still need answers.
-
19. Gameboys
Filipino Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
- I already knew what was going to happen because I got spoiled on Tumblr multiple times while it was airing.
- It was very enjoyable and the characters were lovable despite their flaws but this drama made me feel a very strong second-hand embarrassment in the first episodes because of Gav's actions and attitude.
- I'm pretty sure Cairo and Gav said the word "baby" at least a 100 times, which was kind of annoying.
-
20. Go Ahead
Chinese Drama - 2020, 46 episodes
- I loved the family with all my heart (Noodle Dad deserves the "Best Dad of the Century Award").
- Great story and characters; I was able to relate to them so many times.
- I just wish the romance between Jianjian and Ling Xiao could have been avoided (I know they weren't blood-related... but still...).
-
21. Way of the House Husband
Japanese Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
- The comedy was very over-the-top but I enjoyed it.
- I think Himawari was a great addition to the story even if she was an original character for the drama.
- I'm looking forward to reading the manga some day and watching the anime next year.
-
22. Great Men Academy
Thai Drama - 2019, 8 episodes

- As always, the romance bothered me.
-
25. Hello Stranger
Filipino Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
- I'm glad this was my first Filipino drama.
- The main leads were SO CUTE and their interactions were so adorable I couldn't stop smiling.
- So funny and well-executed despite being short and having a "video-call" concept.
-
26. Hello, Mom
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
- I cried my eyes out in every episode.
- I wish they had spent a little more time developing the side characters (the ghosts).
- The ending didn't convince me 100% but I was able to accept it.
-
27. Pettegolezzo
Chinese Drama - 2020, 36 episodes
- Now I want to learn to play Go because of this drama.

- Funny, entertaining, surprising, and heartwarming.
-
30. Hospital Playlist
Korean Drama - 2020, 12 episodes

- I feel that they added too many couples into the story.
-
31. I Told Sunset About You
Thai Drama - 2020, 5 episodes
- I really wanted to like it as much as everyone else, but the story wasn't for me and I couldn't connect with the characters.

- As always, the depiction of Antisocial Personality Disorder was not well-done and that bothered me a lot.
- I couldn't care less about the characters (especially the female lead) and the romance.
- The acting, cinematography, visual effects, and music were really good though.
-
34. Joy of Life
Chinese Drama - 2019, 46 episodes
- I cared a lot about many of the characters but the romance didn't convince me even though it was necessary for the plot.
- Wasn't too invested in the story at the beginning but it kept getting better, funnier, and more intriguing with each episode.
- The ending shocked me so much that I bumped up the rating by 0.5 starts.
-
35. Kingdom
Korean Drama - 2019, 6 episodes
- It was too slow-paced, and I usually don't mind that if the dramas have lots of episodes, but this one didn't.
- I didn't really care about the story and characters.
- The zombies were amazing though.
-
36. Kingdom: Season 2
Korean Drama - 2020, 6 episodes

- It annoyed me that too many things didn't get an answer nor were explained.
-
42. Light on Series: The Long Night
Chinese Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
- Very interesting premise but since I wasn't fond of any of the characters, I wasn't too invested in the story.
- I started to get bored in the second half, so I missed a lot of important information and hence, struggled to understand some of the storylines.
- I was expecting a little more from the highest rated Chinese drama of 2020 in Douban.
-
43. Like in the Movies
Filipino Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
- You can truly tell that an actual queer person worked on this; the struggles and lives of LGBTQ people were very well-portrayed.
- Fantastic storytelling full of parallels and symbolism. Every detail mattered.
- Beautiful OST with beautiful lyrics that fit each scene so perfectly.
-
44. Love by Chance 2
Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
- This season shouldn't have existed, it was so bad not even my love for Tin, Can, Ae, and Techno could save it.
- I didn't mind much that they "rebooted" TinCan's story but they truly messed up so many storylines and characters.
- Kengkla needs to go to jail!!!
-
45. Lovely Us

- The plot was simple but very well-executed, heartwarming, relaxing, funny, and relatable; I might have shed some tears in some scenes.
-
46. Missing Persons
Chinese Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
- The concept was good but they didn't execute it properly.
- They spent way too much time showing the backstories of the characters instead of focusing on the main plot.
- Nothing got explained at the end.
-

-
50. My Day
Filipino Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
- In two words: A MESS!

-
51. My Gear And Your Gown
Thai Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
- Too many mixed feelings... I don't even remember what I expected from this drama but I can tell you that it still disappointed me.
- So much unnecessary drama and many misunderstandings.
- Folk deserved better!
-
52. Mystic Pop-Up Bar
Korean Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
- I was excited to watch it because of its concept but ended up disappointing me.
- The only characters I cared about were Kangbae and Yeorin (but individually, not as a couple).
- A lot of things were too predictable and the story never interested me.
-
53. Nirvana in Fire
Chinese Drama - 2015, 54 episodes
- I was too confused at the beginning so I wasn't enjoying it but once I got a hang of the story, I loved it.

- It was a story full of emotions, suspense, and mystery combined with great characters.
-
54. Ojisan wa Kawai Mono ga o Suki
Japanese Drama - 2020, 5 episodes
- One the cutest, fluffiest, and funniest things I've watched.

- The friendship between the main characters was so pure that sometimes I'd think I was watching a BL drama.
-
55. Ossan's Love
Japanese Drama - 2018, 7 episodes

- Despite being so funny, it also had some serious and relatable parts.
- I'm glad no one character was made the villain.
-
56. Oxygen
Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes

- Low budget but kind of decent.
- There was no plot and everything felt rushed.
- The ending was too confusing.
-
62. Roommate Special Episode
Thai Special - 2020, 1 episode
- They picked up where the last episode ended and explained exactly what had happened.
- The characters had more chemistry in this special episode than the actual drama.
- They were able to wrap up the story more appropriately.
-
63. Save Me
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
- Started off too slow that by the time the actual story finally began, I had already lost interest.
- Individually, each character was interesting but it wasn't enough for me to care about what was going happen to them.
- The acting was really good though.
-
64. Signal
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
- Very interesting concept and thankfully, well executed.

- Jaehan was the MVP of the story; I was rooting for him throughout the whole drama.
-
65. Some Day or One Day
Taiwanese Drama - 2019, 13 episodes
- One of the most intriguing, complex, and best executed dramas about time-travel I've seen.
- The plot twists were so good that whenever I thought I had figured out something, my theories were completely destroyed.
- The romance between the main leads was so cute that I was rooting for them so hard.
-
66. Still 2gether
Thai Special - 2020, 5 episodes
- As expected, Sarawat and Tine were so cute, but the other couples were too; so glad we got to see more of Man x Type and Phukong x Mil getting together.
- It was really nice that they fixed some of the plot-holes and compensated for some of the things we didn't like from the first season.
- It was too short but at least we finally got a proper kiss!!!
-
67. Story of Yanxi Palace
Chinese Drama - 2018, 70 episodes
- So many episodes but never once I got bored; the story and all the characters were phenomenal.
- The female lead was so smart and independent that it was impossible for me not to love her, but the characters that owned my heart were the Fuca siblings.
- Great cinematography, beautiful costumes, and good pacing.
-
68. Strangers from Hell
Korean Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
- Very intriguing and interesting from beginning to end.
- The male lead had more chemistry with the (creepy) dentist than with his own girlfriend.
- My biggest complain is that they never really showed or talked about the backstories of many of the characters more in depth.
-
69. Sweet Home
Korean Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
- So gorey (and with weird CGI) but still so good, though I got a little bored in the last two episodes.

- I'm so confused with the ending so I need the second season now!
-
70. Tale of the Nine-Tailed
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
- It started off so well and then became a disappointment.
- I didn't care about the romance at all; the brothers' relationship was way more interesting and touching,
- Lee Rang was the most iconic and complex character, which is why I loved him a lot.
-
71. The Bridal Mask
Korean Drama - 2012, 28 episodes
- Watched half of it around 2013 and never finished it so decided to give it another try and ended up regretting it.
- It started off so well but then got so repetitive and hence, boring.
- The romance (and love triangle) between the main characters was plain stupid and annoying.
-
72. The Fiery Priest
Korean Drama - 2019, 40 episodes
- Kind of enjoyed it but just for some of the funny scenes rather than the plot.
- Thank God there was no romance between the male and female lead.
- The action scenes were cool.
-
73. The King’s Avatar
Chinese Drama - 2019, 40 episodes

- The plot was not my cup of tea but the characters were very entertaining and likeable.

Thai Drama - 2018, 13 episodes
- Nothing special about the plot and I didn't like how it was executed.

-
76. The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty
Chinese Drama - 2020, 48 episodes
- The plot was fine but not really interesting; the second half was way better than the first half.
- I wasn't very fond of Tang Fan and couldn't feel the chemistry between him and Sui Zhou until the last few episodes.
- I would have dropped it if it wasn't for Wang Zhi (and Ding Rong).
-
77. The Story of Ming Lan
Chinese Drama - 2018, 78 episodes
- It took me around 15 episodes to finally care about the characters and understand where the story was going.
- Before the main leads became a couple, I wasn't sure if I was going to like them together, but once they married, I loved how wholesome their relationship was.
- I really liked how strong , smart, and independent the female lead was.
-
78. The Untamed Special Edition
Chinese Special - 2019, 20 episodes
- Just a shorter version in chronological order of the original drama.
- I was hoping they would add more deleted scenes but at least we got more of drunk Lan Wangji.
- Gave me an excuse to re-watch this phenomenal and unforgettable story.
-
79. Theory of Love
Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes
- I enjoyed it more than I thought but it was still lacking in some aspects.

- Tsuge is as dramatic as always and I love him for that!
- Udon has seen things yet again...
-
82. Until We Meet Again
Thai Drama - 2019, 17 episodes
- It started off well and got boring very quickly despite having a good concept.
- The main couple was cuter in their past lives, and the second couple deserved more screen time; however, I have to admit both relationships were very healthy.
- I wanted to eat all the sweets and desserts Pharm made.
-
83. Valentine & Hexagon
Japanese Special - 2020, 1 episode
- This was absolutely hilarious and adorable.

- Rokkaku tried his best but it wasn't enough XD.
-

-
85. White War
Hong Kong Drama - 2020, 30 episodes
- My first drama from Hong Kong and the first time I realized how different Cantonese and Mandarin sounded.
- The plot was not for me but I kept watching because of the three main characters and their friendship.
- The romance annoyed me.
-
86. Why R U?
Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
- Terribly executed, too many characters, and boring and nonexistent plot.
- I wasn't able to like Fighter x Tutor but Saifah and Zone stole my heart, they were the cutest.
- I genuinely don't understand all the hype it got unless it only was for the good-looking actors and steamy scenes.
-
87. Winter Begonia
Chinese Drama - 2020, 49 episodes
- By far my favorite drama of the year because of the cinematography and attention to the details, stunning costumes, great pacing, interesting and complex characters, engaging story, and beautiful soundtrack; also the symbolism and parallels were perfection.
- The chemistry between Shang Xirui and Cheng Fengtai was off the charts that there was no way their relationship could be considered a simple friendship; they are #SOULMATES and I still can't believe some scenes were able to get past censorship because there was no heterosexual explanation for most of them.
- Thanks to this drama I was able to appreciate the beauty of Peking Opera; I hope one day I can watch a performance with my own two eyes.
-
88. Desiderio di te: La tua melodia... dal mio cuore
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
- Everything felt too rushed because there were very few episodes and each of them was so short.
- I didn't care about the main characters at all.
- Overall, the story was boring and forgettable.
