Bigger dissapointement than expected

I was looking forward a k-drama shot in Europe. Yet let me tell you that you can see they don't know anything about the crountry where the action did take place.
For a while i thought this was 80' until a saw one of the caractere with some kind of ipad.
Let me remind you this the capital of Europe... so why does the last scenes at the airport looks like a small town train station ?
Also, in Belgium mainly Brussels, everything is always bilingual in French AND Dutch. So here, a bit more research would have helped and avoid casting a vilain with a very thick french accent (and not belgian) or police officier which can't even pronounce the name of the city !
But thumbs up to the korean actor taking on the advocate role , even thought i did not seem the most natural , its speach did sound like a foreign speaking french.
During the whole story there wasn't any "friendly" european, juste one bad encounter after an other one .Instead we got the stereotypical gangster (more russian mafia )


Regarding the plot :
The story touch a lot of topic without going into them or solutions to solve a situation did not make sense ( why pretenting to be chinese to get a job ? also you can get a job without any paper ?!!)
If they wanted to make a "social "interest film, they should have restricted the topics to the refugee theme (

Overall the film felt unrealistic and immature to me.

I rated the music because you have to but I didn’t pay attention to it honestly.

I didn't buy the FM ML couple. There was absolutely no romantic chemistry. For me, it felt more a student admiring its mentor and misinterpreting it as love.
The show make you aware that they're supposed to end up together bu the age gap doesn't help.

The story was forgettable. Touch tried to tackle too many problems and themes without really developping them: business wars, chaotic relationships, domestic abuse ...
I don't even remenber that happend to the FL best riend eventough she is a supporting charactere.
And i absoletly can not forgive that they try that pass an abuser as a victim who deserved a second chance.

I felt that the funny or touching moment rely on the side characters . They kinda brighten this shows .

Simple and short

The plot follows a typical story of teenage-heroes saving their schools .
The team composition match also the stereotype with the leader, the brain , the muscle, and moody-comical relieve character.
And formula consisting of one episode =1 phatom defeated
This give out a quite simplistic, easy to watch, children appropriate short serie.

This series have a clear targeted audiance . Thus impact the acting (better than disney channel but not incredibe either), the fighting scene (bloodless choreogaphy ) and the writing.

With that in mind, be prepare of plot hole such as "why does a student who graduated from a magic school where they train phantom hunters need a humain to tell her about the phantoms? What did she learn at school ?"
If you are looking for something more elaborate , skip this one.

Rushed

I didn't see the chinese version so i won't be able de compare.

This drama is alright for a love triangle drama. Not extraordinary but not bad either.
I would say the overall result a pass.

I liked the short format. But i might have been a disavantage.
Some characteres are underdevelopped . For example, elements are introduced to explain a bit a of the ML's back story but they are not used. As if the director cut those part due to a lack of time.
I suppose that the FL should funny , clumsy and adorable. Well i only remember her as havinga two-emotion: cringy - overly excited.

I enjoyed that the story didn't focus just on their high school year. However i feel that more time could have been spend on their "adulthood". Once again the story was rush.

As the story shows the character aging, the castings is really important. Yet i felt that the FL actress was too hold to make me believe she was a highschooler.

Waouh thi s drama left me speechless. I rarely give a perfect 10 but this one really deserves it.

Story: the writting is beautiful.
Usually time travel drama are filled with plot hole and unexplained part. Here I couldn't find any . The story is coherent and mind-blowing . There are many twists and they come in a well paced way. This a 13 episodes, intricately and perfectly plotted drama, There relationship between the characteres are well played and help to understand the female lead.
I will just say that the lip reading ability was a slightly exagerated.

Acting : they all pulled off their characters so well , Especially, you could make a distinction between the multiple characters hat were played by the same actors.

OST: i can't remenber when was the last time i've let the credit play to here the music. Overall the OST was good .
I might avoid listening Wu Bai's "Last Dance" for a will because it was overplayed since it also serves as a plot device.
The other song are beautifull.

Rewatch value: the story were the twists and how deftly the story leads you in different directions was the core of the drama. Although that power is lost by rewatching,it will a good occasion to check all the clue that i missed.

Authencity and realistic story

If you started watching this drama after "something in the rain", you might want to reconsider or wait a bit. Even through there are similarities , dont watch "One spring night" as season 2 .


The characters are really realistic . I like the attention given to the second charactereS : they aren't caricatures or used in order to deepen our main couple's story but instead they power through struggles of their own. They're all very different from each other but equally endearing.
The acting is so well done , all of them gave a very natural performance. It really made me think i was witnessing a slice of life of real peole.

The story show us different people struggling with the korean society expectation ( societal pressures and conservative values ). The romance is really slow burn ( a bit too slow for me) but reinforce the aunthencity of the story.

On the negative side, the music. The style fit the drama fut it felt like the same song was playing during the whole se

This is the drama to watch if you are looking for realistic story without the plot employed by other Korean dramas.

Meh - cliche teen drama

Melting pot of every rich high school drama cliche: entitled rich high schooler partying, drinking alcool, riding expensive bike, spending money without care, high school hierachy based on their parent money and of course bullying. School administration totally rotten by money.

Adding the suicide plot made if feels like a cheap web drama version of Sky Castel but written by an IA.

Even thought the episode are short , caracters could have been a bit more develop

On the plus side, for once the high schoolers are not played by 30ish old adults.

The acting isn't great, sometimes a bit forced but i'ven seen worst.

Great bands but a disappointing format

To my knowledge , there are only few show that focuses on bands.
Contrary to super band which aims to create a band, this show promote existing bands.
Thus this is a great opportunity to discover groups that already have their own identity.

Unfortunately, Mnet evil editing stroke again. The drama created through editing is totally uncalled for! It seems so faked.

The format of the show follows a bit to much the one from survival show.
I would have liked to have seen more out-of-the-box missions .

If you don't have the time to watch the entire show, you should at least check out the stage performances on Youtube.

Disappointed

I got the opportunity to watch this animated movie through the festival Anima which held a special Korean selection in 2021.
Overall I was really disappointed.

Pro: the visual is really wonderfull.
Topic is interesting ans refreshing

Con : the story: The beginning of the story doesn't help the plot nor give a satisfactory ending. The end left me with to many unanswered questions.
A lot of scene are left to the interpretation of the public. However as I'm not familiar with the shamanism rituals and its conflict with christianism in Korea (i only have a rough idea), i felt that i could only grasp a bit of the whole picture.
The story line is full a flashback, ans jump in time. You'll nees to stay focused.
The music : the music itself is not bad. The problem is that there were too many songs that at some point i thought that it was a musical.

Better than the kdrama

Mid of the serie i realised that the plot seems to be a bit familiar. Then i understood that this is the adpataion of a kdrama. ( which quite good). I usually don't like to rewatch a serie but this adaptation was worth it .

The acting is good. The main actress is convincing as the twin sisters with different personalities, Meen and Mind. It is not always easy to have a contrast between two charactere.

As for the story, i still need to give credits to the original Korean scriptwriters. This series succeeded in depetcing a contemporary issues that teenagers face. It digs up problem from school as well as family issues.
However the last two episode are developping too quickly compare to the rest of the plot. The same goes for Gun backstory.

Confusing

I started watching this drama because I really enjoyed the trailer.

The acting, and editing were all done very well . The lead actor nailed it.
The CGI is wonderful : the jellies looked so real and also the special effects and other graphics are excellent.

At first the weirdness of the sceanrio did attract me. I tought it was something out of the ordinary. But at some point i didn't get the quirky show that i was looking for. In stead, it felt like i was watching some an independent movie which lost its plot half way. In fact somethings aren't explained properly. There were so many loose ends and so many dropped plots .
I won't be watching the second but maybe the book can give me closure.

Go ahead and watch it

I usually avoid drama that have so many episodes and i'm not a chines supernatural/fantasy lover.
But this drama got me hooked !

Do not be fool by the first fluffy-esque episodes. There is indeed a love story but you also betrayal and schemes.

Story: The plot is coherent and mostly well paced. If the begging seems slow, the interesting part come a tiny bit later later.
This drama will make you ride an emotional rollercoaster with no end. You will experience all kind of emotions while watching this show.

The main characters are well developped . You can see them experience conflicts but how they mature from those experiences
The acting and casts really did a good job of expressing their character's emotions.

If you want to try a C-drama, i'll recommand this one-
