Anything light and fluffy....

Always brings me to tears.... this drama was without a doubt between Japan, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, and other Chinese dramas that I have watched, this hands down was the best drama I have seen!!! The main leads for this to be their debut series I'm excited to see what happens next. The storyline was magnificent, there was hardly any love rivalries, just the insecure jealous girl, but even the two ended up mending their mistakes.

The second male lead gave me that second male lead syndrome, the kind where despite it all you still wanted him to be happy, and the fact he winded up being the best man at their wedding. I hope in the end he found his true love. I like to think he did. The female lead... she's a person I feel those who are in real life, people take advantage of, and it's people like her that should really shine in the world. A mission to be closer to her brother, winding up her having her own family in the end, and I feel the son that she birthed was a reincarnation of him. I also have to say the wedding proposal, that amongst many was the most realistic I've seen in a drama. No matter how perfect you make it, something gets botched. Even if it was just the ring box being turned upside down. Every proposal has to be intricate and perfect, and this showed, I loved how he said vows that you knew weren't going to turn into empty promises. "Like I promise to never hurt you." But he knew their was bumps.... OVERALL WATCH THIS DRAMA

For those with social anxiety.... (Maybe spoilers, may not?)

If you're like me and have mild to severe social anxiety and you need a pick me up or a reminder. This is for you! For us. Someone will come along and waken us up and realize that the world isn't always as dark and as cruel as it may seem. Nan Xi the sweetest boy who didn't hurt a fly and they were cruel and Xia Rui with the purest heart who showed him that no matter what you go through in life, there will always be someone there. That that person will always remain by your side. There's a lot of lessons to learn, like how one person who you thought was your enemy can become your friends, that it's never too late to find love, or to even start your life over again whatever that endeavor you want to do may be. This was the most heartwarming genre and I cried, I got mad. But I also know it's okay to break out of your shell. That no matter what good always outweighs the evil (Gao Ting) and that their teacher is the best damn teacher EVER!!! He's the male version of an old teacher of mine. It books to become a boring, cynical and logical teacher, but it takes love and heart to go the extra mile just like there's did in high school and in college. It takes a daughter who academically struggled to open up her mother's heart and realize sometimes not EVERYTHING she says is always right and logical and that home, friends, and being local is just what she needs to succeed. As much as I like the ones that have the drama in it and that gets me on the edge of my seat to get to the happy ending this one is the best. There's no drama, well apart from Gao Ting trying to ruin Nan Xi out of jealousy oh and in the early days of high school, but other than that, easy and fun. This is the third drama I've watched with Wan Peng and my first with the male lead actor Guo Jun Chen and I can't wait to find more of their works in the future.

1st BL, but people needs to understand....

that there is more to mature themes than just the steamy scenes. For those of you who thought it focused too much on the trauma aspect, I think it shows how well, and very realistic families like that can be. There are women in this world who are mothers that rely on their husbands so much that no matter what they're child says they'd always think they're lying. Mothers who only care about the paychecks more so than loving their child. And sadly, in life I've seen it that way where a person was in the LGBTQIA+ community and they want their parents love so badly they fork over the cash despite the endless abuse. Uea's story is very real. I'll admit, King was the player, but I don't they were ever fully enemies like they suggest, they just misunderstood each other. He kept flirting with Uea because he knew that he was the one. He just had a wall and he put it up. It was Uea that was the only one that could tear it down. For my first BL that was beyond a 10/10 it deserved more.

It was great, but….

The show was great, but there was some slight flaws.

Number 1: I know this was based on a novel, but it did NOT warrant 40 episodes that story could be told within 35 MAX.

Number 2: There are three love stories in this show, but the main one that was focused on was Xing Keilei and Mi Ka. But because they didn’t have any problems, their love was too easy and laidback with the slight problem of the jealous sick sister in ep. 31 to 34. I guess I like the love stories with the triangle and the rivals. So, though it was about Mi Ka and Keilei I wasn’t invested in their story as much as the other two couples. So, so for that I gave the acting a 9.5, the other actors did a better job pulling me into their stories than the ML and the FL.

The ending was okay. I felt like it ended like it just fell off with a drone shot overlooking a busy night time street, the promise was nice, but it was a dull ending. I felt they could’ve put this promise when they were overlooking the night traffic with the proposal at the training center.

It was a an okay drama, but not one I would rewatch again.

I couldn't stop crying.

As someone who has a niece on crutches, I can't even. This was the sweetest. The characters both in their rights are so strong! I've never seen them in anything else the actors but they protrayed these characters well. The Lu Miao is a character we don't see in many female leads, her determination and compassion is something I feel all young female teens and even some of us adults need to watch and look up to. Yes, she slacks off, but she tries, she fights for her family and friends. I don't have one bad thing about her. Yes, there's some parts she doesn't get and she fights and argues about. But that's her innocence popping out because she just doesn't know, but she wants to understand. I feel like everyone has been like this.

As for Jiang Haoyue honestly, he's hurt. He puts up with his drunken father and his mother who, let's face it was embarrassed by her first born son because he came from Jiang Yi. Then what ticked me off the most about him was that he was going to leave Lu Miao and go abroad to be with her. As if Lu Miao's feelings didn't matter. I mean yes, it was a debt to pay off, but they genuinely cared about him. And for Lu Miao that didn't matter. They were family, and he was abandoning her for a woman who had abandoned him because she was ashamed of him. But his father was a lowlife, but that's because it seemed like no one had genuinely showed that they cared for him growing up (they didn't give much back story on him except the love story between him and Haoyue's mom), he knew he screwed up. And in case anyone overlooked it, him locking everything up and saying he burned his son's passport was his way of saying that he didn't want his son to go. And that he was trying. And of course happily Haoyue saw that. A mother shouldn't just leave a child for years in a toxic situation. She should've taken him with her. For that I'm glad she left she was horrible. I'm glad the show came to a close like it did. Sometimes romance isn't always the kissing or any kinds of physical intimacy more intense than a hug. Sometimes romance can be the start of one blossoming, the rekindling of a lost relationship, and just good friends. for me this show was 10/10. All the actors brought to life their characters very well. And I'd definitely have to watch this again. I wish they made a second season, to see how they continued. But honestly guessing what their life is like after these dramas are the best imagines you get to make for yourselves. This is the best C-drama I've seen yet and I will recommend it to my brother-in-law and wife for their daughter so she's not alone, even in a story.

It Was a Story I Never Knew I Needed

This drama, touched my heart in so many ways. As someone who personally struggles with her own demons to the point that I don’t think I would ever get out of it, it showed me I can, that some days will be tough, but you can get through it.

Mun-yeong and the patient who was haunted by the Vietnam War I felt I related to them the most, as someone who cling onto her past to the point I thought I would never find the door, or never cut off my leash to the past that was making me miserable. I thought I would drown and let my mental health and the people I let take control of my life continue to dictate me, thinking they were good when they were just more added demons.

There were days I felt like the people I had in my life that stepped on me like an empty can and crush me to the point I wasn’t allowed to feel anything or be my true self. And to be honest, I didn’t like Ju-ri in the beginning. She was catty, cruel, and she was a two-faced witch. She didn’t trust and understand fully what was going on with Mun-yeong and she ran away. Then she thought that she was poison for Gang-tae, and so did he. I relate to him honestly as well. I’ve had to put a smile on my face for so many people and act like them walking all over me is okay, that not being okay was wrong, that truthfully, there’s a bit of me in everyone of those characters. Except for Mun-yeong’s mom. I’m the woman who still thinks she’s a child, I still live with trauma, I had to live to people’s expectations or they would find me too embarrassing and dumb to hang around. I have to put a smile on my face every single day. When in reality, I want to scream, hit, hurt, and punch someone.

And Sang-tae? He’s the big brother everyone needs. Yes, the drama taught me, that it’s okay to not be okay, to live the life I want to live, and to find happiness. To be The Cheerful Dog that finally got to cut off his leash and play in the fields, to be the Zombie Kid that finally got his warmth, and I will be the girl (cause I’m not a boy), who will remember my dark past and my demons, because remember my dark and weakened past will make me stronger, more passionate, more determined, emotionally flexible, and I will find happiness.

I not only cried, but laughed, yelled at the screen, and cheered them on. This was as story I didn’t know I needed, the acting was superb, and I know I thought Crash Landing On You was my number 1 favorite, but this one takes it spot, moving CLOY to number 2 and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim to number 3. Thank you, Sang-tae, Gang-tae, Mun-yeong, and even Mang-tae for showing me self-love.

THE BEST DRAMA EVER.

PS: For those who don’t think it was accurately depicted mental health wise, it was. Just some of their diagnosis wasn’t correct. As someone who has spent her entire life in and out of hospitals, I’ve seen everything under the sun. A lot of it was depression, PTSD, I will give Mun-yeong Antisocial Personality Disorder along with I’ll say bipolar. But PTSD symptoms and major depression was definitely there. All in all, great performance from the cast. The soundtrack was amazing (some songs I need to download), the story perfect, I’ll definitely rewatch it again in the future.

IN 3 YRS OF WATCHING DRAMAS IT’S THE BEST DRAMA I’VE SEEN!!!

I started watching dramas around the same time I got back into K-pop, which I guess at this rate for a foreigner like me, K-pop and K-dramas go together like peanut butter and jelly. BUT, there wasn’t a time I didn’t root for the main leads, I wanted their love to grow, and it did. They are one of the few couples in dramas that I’ve seen where I wanted the two to be together in real life. I shipped them that much, and they are and expecting a BABY!!!!

Low-key I wanted all the people she befriended in North Korea to just stay forever with her Master Sargeant Pyo, I swear he never had me not laughing, him and the other soldiers in Jeong-Hyeok’s crew just made me laugh and the other boys were so cute, the play on popular Idol labels and the shock they had when they saw all this electricity, it was amazing. It was like kids exploring the world for the first time.

The family I hated all of them, but the twist shocked me, to go through that much length, and the fact a family did that to each other…. HORRIBLE, but you don’t even need to be rich to have families act like that. Honestly the greatest forbidden romance I’ve seen since Romeo & Juliet, or Jack and Rose in Titanic, the other second leads, I hated them, but I still at the end wanted the best for them.

All in all a GREAT drama. Mischievous Kiss just went from #1 to #2 it’s definitely a rewatch and kept me and my friends on my toes. I commend it.

Sweet, Heartfelt, and.... LONG!!!!

Okay, it helped and showed a lot of themes involving PTSD and mental health, first love, and my favorite thing in the world which is youth dramas and first loves coming together and growing into their own person. Some of it was really messed up, and this made me cry because I've deal with PTSD, for some, the thought never leaves them. It can be their long term. And some seek treatment every day for the rest of their lives. Now, some of it was a little inaccurate. Though I've had selected amnesia, and I've faced my issues head on by complete accident, some of those evasive therapy techniques aren't always the best and always going to the physical source that triggers the problem, it can't actually do more emotional damage, but the story was great. I love the actors in this drama, which honestly kept me to continue the story. Hu Yitian and Xing Fei are my favorite Chinese drama actors, and the spark was amazing. I was actually wondering when they would've worked together. Now I saw. But, I did shed a tear, but the only flaw despite the fact yes, it represented mental health and the #metoo movement. I also really found a strength in Xiaoci that I didn't think I was going to like in the beginning. But, even though she went through her own depression and body dysmorphia, she realized that it's okay to love yourself for who you are. That's okay to love and trust the love that is given, even if it's from an unexpected guy. She's a strong will girl, and actually became one of my favorite characters in the end, just like Chen Hai. They all were despite the bad guys, of course.

I think the only thing that I didn't like was that there was too many triggering scenes in there and if you've ever been into any of these situations as a young girl/guy and you get triggered, then the topic isn't really for you. But this was a really good show. Another thing I wanted to add, is that it's too long. The screenwriter went on in too much detail. Like it's their first time writing a script, leaving a great rough draft, but leaving extra details in there that we didn't need to have to be in there. I mean thirty episode max on the story. Other these things. Great show. I don't think I'll watch it again solely for the personal effect on me, but was a great show and if you like Xing Fei and Hu Yitian. Then this is for you.

1-23 Was Cute But The Special Wasn't

The story was cute, and low-key relatable as I'm sure a lot of people have tried and pursue their crushes over the years. But, there was something's that only gave it a 9.5. The acting and cast were amazing. This was the second performance I've seen of the Male Lead and I thought he embodied the character well. It showed growth of all of the characters, some heartbreak. I didn't particularly care for how they portrayed the mental health in the show, but then I also understand that's just how it's dealt with in those countries. Mainly Li Wei's mom though she was in only one scene as much as I hated her, I began to sympathize the eternal pain she was going through as someone who deals with it on a regular basis. So, in the end I felt sympathy for her.

Despite being tenacious and a bit childish the female lead grew up and sometimes it takes growing apart from a person you love and figuring out who you are in the end to really make you see that the person you loved an wanted was next to you all along. Mainly Jiang Chen I'm talking about in this case, but it also gave Chen Xiaoxi a chance to grow up and live life and seeing if the love Jiang Chen was really there. Her friends were amazing and tough. It's a good drama if you like school romances and seeing characters grow and become more established of themselves as adults. The special was cute, but not what I wanted it to expect. Overall a good show. But, it still gets 9.5 because of the way they did Li Wei. It wasn't fair. Even though I was ready to push her and her best friend out the window. And would I rewatch it again? Probably not. It didn't move me to tears. But it was good.

As a person who is a sucker for student/teacher relationships I'll say....

It was pretty damn good. As someone who watches a lot of stuff for inspirations for an idea to write my first novel (maybe a trilogy now) I'll say this gave me a lot to work with. The actors did a superb. It teaches a valuable lessons of that love doesn't mean you to meet the algorithm to find your perfect match. That grandpas no what's best for their grandchildren, that yes ditzy girls with loving hearts are the key to making guys (I'll add Naoki and Kotoko in the mix for Mischievous Kiss fans) It basically had that same theory. That love is bigger than books, brains, and logic. That you are human and a Vulcan (Spock's logic is great logic, but he was also an alien) and human's require love and nurture (unless you're a serial killer). I liked what Grandpa said that in true romance their shouldn't be two parallel lines in a relationship, that one needs to intersect. I felt that it was true for (I'm terrible with Chinese names I'm American making this post so it's even harder, sorry!) But for the ML and FL I feel like Grandpa was right, sometimes to escape the past that turned you stiff and cold you need to find someone that's going to push you to not be scared to take risks and let you be happy.

I know I should commit on the others, but I feel like I'm going to anyway to give a solid review. The sister I understand with their father passing she'd always have the motherly and protective instinct especially since it was just her and the FL (who is her sister) growing up. But, I felt like she was so guarded that she winded up building such a wall that I was afraid she wasn't going to let true love takes its course for her and I felt she deserved a happy ending. She gave so much. And it's ironic that who she fell in love with is her sister's husband's best friend. I also find it ironic that his best friend is a drama actor. But, I felt like she needed him to waken up and break down her barriers to truly be able to live a happy life.

As for the FL friends. I will say this is the first time I didn't like them. Now, I should be more specific. I don't like her female best friend. She flirts with guys and she broke up with her I think childhood sweetheart and he's still there picking up her mess. And because she was bored of him she went and broke up with him to go out with crappy guy after crappy guy. He still helped her out and she kept throwing him under the bus. She royally made me mad. And honestly, she didn't deserve happiness. She deserved to be miserable because she never gave him a full reason as to why she broke up with him. She was just bored. She fell in love with the wrong guys to easy and her crying was annoying. When the boy best friend finally broke up with her I was hoping he was going to get away from her for good and lead a life to where hopefully he find someone that would genuinely lead him happiness and not toxicity. It was nice easy drama that I got into, but I must say there was somethings that I wanted to know that I didn't really wanted to find out. Like, I felt like I wasn't clear on how the dad died. What happened to the girls' mother? That I felt was unclear, but all in all it was okay. I may rewatch again I may not, but it was good. Not the best. Yes I did cry at some parts, because the FL and ML were literally the best part of the whole drama ( which is the point, but I've got side-tracked wanting the second leads to find their true love). Good drama.

SIWON, I THINK YOU MADE BIAS LIST!!!

The show was AMAZING!! I can't believe it. I think out of all the dramas from Korea alone that I've watched, this one hit it out of the park!!! I loved the story and what it meant, that we are the stars of our own story and that no matter the bad, good would always fall into place. I couldn't stop crying, however. This hit me in the feels so, so, so, much! Everything about it. And as an American K-pop stan and me always going after Leeteuk and Heechul as my Super Junior bias wreckers I must say Siwon Choi really did it for me. I wanted so bad for everything good to happen for him. It was the first time ever where I actually wanted the second male lead to get the girl. I was rooting for him so bad. He was just pure, kind, funny, charismatic, and just full of love. He was good and happy. I loved the characters. And of course Park Seo Joon I can't wait to see you make your Hollywood debut in the new Captain Marvel movie!!! And yes, I'd rewatch it again!!!

It Hit Me in the FEELS!!!

Now, I'm a HUGE fan of the storyline my first one being the Korean adaptation and then the Japanese and so on and so forth, but this is by far the best telling in a live action and I think in my opinion Kaoru Tada would've been extremely satisfied with how Thailand did their adaptation of the series. The way that he wasn't as stand-offish his, the backstory to their love. Taliw/Kotoko wasn't as annoying, I feel like she couldn't have been anymore pure in the show which hit me in the feels even harder. And TenTen/Naoki I was happy at the softer approach the gave him. His heart I knew was only for Taliw. And it showed. The show had me laughing and crying through the good and the bad. I loved how the mom in this one had a backbone where the others I felt were a little too passive and let their kids walk all over them, she had the spirit of my mom in her. Everything about this one was pure, unique and lighter than the other ones and showed more heart. I wished they did a second season. The fact that it made me cry!!! It takes a lot for a song, or a show, or a movie to bring out the waterworks in fact only Disney has been good at doing that dirty work. But the cast was amazing, the chemistry with everyone it seemed so genuine, the storyline and the direction it took was by far the best, the music was great. There really wasn't anything wrong with it. I'd watch it again, just to cry all over again. I think the author would've been proud. I was.

It's blah

I always give dramas a chance, but I couldn't even finish this one. The chemistry sucked. The story was cliched and it just didn't seem believable. It's the first drama I ever NOT want to finish. I don't recommend it. I live for the cutesy first romance type of dramas. But this wasn't cutting it. The actors were good looking, the female lead was cute, but just like the female lead she was mean and a bit bossy. It's not something that resonates well with me. What I like most about female leads is that they're a bit clumsy, naive, but sweet, caring, and nice to all of their friends. The female lead takes them for granted it seems like and is mean to her childhood best friend. The male lead is just as arrogant, and the second female lead does petty things to get revenge because she can't get the guy that she wants. And the other male lead is so full of himself I wanted to punch him in the face. Usually it's cute, but this was overall annoying, and I don't recommend watching this title. It can be skipped.

THE DOCTOR LEAD IS CRINGE

I've watched many dramas both BL and non BL but this is uncomfortable, the doctor male Iead, is horrible, how people giving this a perfect 10 clearly doesn't know good dramas. The way he stalks the other male lead, the way he approaches him everything about it gave me cringey vibes that after the third episode I had drop it, would not recommend. THIS IS HORRIBLE!!! The writers should be ashamed of themselves, I wouldn't recommend this to a fly. Like I felt uncomfortable and just wrong watching this.

Compared to the Korean version

It's great I mean is the same trope of the FL family member death caused by ML's a little overused in a drama, yes but I still watch cause that's just one small thing. But I will say compared to the first I do like the story, the fluffers the way it's told better than the Korean version. I think they chemistry is more authentic and honestly the ML visuals is a lot more pleasing to the eyes than the Korean version, imo. I seen the FL in one other drama and I do say she's a good actress the chemistry between her in the ML is adorable, sweet, and they do make a cute and believable couple. Now granted I'm writing this only 11 episodes in but that's because there's one character that gets under my. Daniel Lu (sorry if I misspelled the last name). Unlike in the Korean version, Daniel was there but he was kind, respectful and despite his feelings for her, he respects her wishes. This Daniel gives me predator vibes. He pushes himself onto the FL and makes her constantly apologize as if he's apart of the family naturally when she just used him as a decoy to get off of her father's back. Now he wants to bombard and stay as if he's her boyfriend trying to protect her from another man because he has some serious jealousy issues that he (ironically with him being one) needs to work out with a therapist. He's disgusting I don't like him and I've never disliked a second ML. He doesn't know boundaries and that's disgusting because now she's made to feel guilty and it's not her fault because her father is one person she should've told but he's no one. just a neighbor. It's really disgusting. I can understand making the character a bit different from the original, but a predator type is NOT where I thought it was going.
