Hmm... what to put here...
Asian dramas are my escape from reality. I love getting lost in these worlds and stories. Being from the US it was a huge culture shock at first and sometimes still is. And though there are some things I'll never understand or agree with, I have become fascinated with Asian cultures.
My first drama was Boys Over Flowers in 2011 and wow is that a bad first drama. I lasted 3 eps and was like this is horrifyingly awful & WHERE ARE THE TEACHERS?! I wasn't going to watch anymore Korean dramas if this is what they're like but the soundtrack wouldn't get out of my head. So I got really into KPop and stayed in that bubble for awhile. But then found out about some of my favorite idols being in dramas. I decided to try some other dramas and I'm so glad I did! I would've missed out on something so wonderful. I think cuz it was so vastly different from the American shows that I was used to I naively thought all Korean dramas would be like BOF. But just like any other country, South Korea has some really good shows and some really bad ones.
After a few months of just Korean dramas, I started checking out other countries' dramas on the English sub sites too. Now 6 years later I'm a full-blown Asian drama addict! And proud of it too! I've also finally decided to join this site & twitter to gush about my love of dramas. For some reason I never have before.
Eventually, I went back to BOF and forced myself to finish it cuz it's one of the most popular ever. Bad from start to finish. Bad writing. Bad acting. Bad ending. Dragged on for way too long too. It's now even more tainted cuz of that psycho, KHJ.
So if you are new to Asian dramas, DON'T start with Boys Over Flowers.
This is getting long now... lol. Just wanna also say that I have many, many favorite actors & actresses but my ultimate fave is probably Ji Sung. That man can play any role and completely own it. He's an incredible talent.
