You Guys Gave This A 9.1?
This review is for those who've already seen it. You may enjoy it as it's just a compilation of notes I made watching this drama.Let me start off by saying this drama is like Twinkling Watermelon meets W. W is one of my favorite dramas and Twinkling Watermelon was amazing. This, however, is really hard to watch. Like really hard. I'm sticking with it, but fast-forwarding quite a bit. I've only quit one drama before because I couldn't stand the FL and I'm trying not to have a repeat of Kill Me, Heal Me.
FL, Im Sol (Kim Hye-Yoon) was really cute and sweet in the first episode. Then when she travelled back in time she became really annoying and kind of ditzy/stupid. ML, Ryu Sun-Jae (Byeon Woo-Seok) was weirdly nice in episode one, despite his clear depression, but past him was a bit odd. In his defense, Im Sol was being a creep and a half.
Someone in the comments (on Viki) said that Kim Tae-Sun (Song Geon-Hee) was the 2nd ML, but when searching the names, I see a different male billed above him. Never seen this guy in any drama before but he looks too old for high school.
Okay, now it's just annoying. He keeps trying to confess, and she's either the world's biggest moron, or she's deaf. Maybe both.
This whole her rushing home to stop the fire, whilst dumb and dumber, her best friend, Lee Hyun-Joo (Seo Hye-Won), and brother, Im Geum (Song Ji-Ho), is not only stupid, it's infuriating.
Her teenage self took over? Ugh. This is going to be exhausting and drawn out for no reason, I can tell.
I feel really bad for 2nd ML. She needs to end it with that poor guy. Also, harsh take but maybe she didn't deserve working legs because the amount of times this girl falls, trips, gets knocked over, etc is annoying.
Omg. He keeps saying "I like you" and she keeps running away. What even is this plot and how on earth was it rated so highly on this site?
Oh good. And now we're at the "I can't accept your feelings." dumb *#&@^$(#& crap.
Baek In Hyuk (Lee Seung Hyub) is completely right. It's been like 15 years and suddenly he just falls for her all over again? Especially after how ungrateful and shitty she was the last time they met in the past.
Her losing her mind about the watch and screaming, "I should have died instead!" like he's not even dead. Go be with him in hospital instead of doing all this nonsense.
"I can't die before I save him!" proceeds to close her eyes and make no attempt to save herself. God she's infuriating.
2ML is definitely my favorite character. He's keeping me hanging on. Much like the bromance in Goblin was the only thing keeping going through that because that girl was obnoxious and acted like a child.
"Hey my dad said the killer is stalking you, shouldn't you tell your family and move everyone somewhere safer?" No. That would be intelligent, why would I do that?
So they both learn the killer has escaped, she breaks down to Tae Sung's dad about catching him and then her boyfriend is cautious about everything and she's like "What's up with you?". Good god she's insufferable.
I struggled to get through this drama and the only reason I did was because I skipped a lot. I'm glad we got the happy ending for everyone. The last episode was pretty sweet. And I will say, unlike other dramas, it wasn't a super rushed happy ending so I will give them that.
Justice for my man Tae Sung though. lol

Second Female Will Anger You Like No Other
It's been a long, long time since I've seen this show but the one thing I do remember is that the second female was absolutely, horrendously, evil. Now, I've never seen The Glory but I've heard it's pretty dark. This is probably not even close, as I heard that is physical, but she is definitely twisted.Kang Mi Rae (Im Soo Hyang) is really sweet and after seeing True Beauty I realize they are a bit similar in story line and characters. Not to mention Cha Eun Woo is in both, and in both he plays the main lead!
I don't think I'd watch this again because I was livid throughout most of this show and then even more livid at the fact that we the audience are meant to feel sorry for the bully.

My Favorite KDrama of All Time
This was one of the first KDramas I ever watched that wasn't a romcom and while is started slowly for me, I stuck it out and I'm SO glad I did. This is where my obsession with Lee Dong Wook began. lol The female lead was nice, I have no complaints, she just didn't really stand out for me at all. Lee Rang (Kim Bum) however.... very different story. I had already seen him in Boys Over Flowers as that was my first drama ever, but I was super psyched to see him in this as well. And I only got even more excited when they mended broken bridges as family.
I also really loved Lee Tae Ri as Imugi and Hwang Hee as Goo Shin Joo. I haven't yet watched the prequel to the show as I want to binge it all at once!

One of My First Dramas
I watched this drama shortly after I watched Boys Over Flowers as it was recommended as a similar show. I absolutely love this show. This show was my introduction to all of the main cast. Not that the female lead isn't pretty with short hair but when I saw the actress's photo on Viki with long hair I was like, "OMG she's stunning!". I will say that something endearing about this show that's almost nostalgic for me is that the female leads reminds me of Julia Stiles' character from 10 Things I Hate About You. Snarky and smart. No nonsense. I love it.
This is another show where I really struggled with who she should be with. And I may be alone in this but I did not like Park Hye Ji (Son Na Eun). Not even after we're supposed to feel sorry for her and like her. I did NOT want her back with Kang Hyun Min (Ahn Jae Hyun). Just no. But otherwise I love this show!

Much Better Than Predicted
It's been awhile since I've watched this as I just found this website and am currently trying to bang out all these reviews while I'm in between shows so I can start making fresh reviews with the next one. lolBut as far as I remember, this show was great. Another thriller romcom that really did a great job at balancing both and keeping both interesting the entire series.
Another drama where the entire cast is phenomenal. Both in their own roles, and their relationships with each other. It also gives you a little dose of that jealous "bf". The one scene that sticks out in my mind is the male lead about to hose down the female lead and the male she's sitting with. lol

I know I stand alone but I did not get the hype.
I've loved Park Bo Young since Strong Woman and this was my first drama with Seo In Guk so I was optimistic, but this show was just ugh. There was no chemistry between them and even though many k-dramas have their leads barely meet and suddenly be in love for no real reason, I feel like that was extra atrocious in this show. I finished it but only because I felt like if I didn't, I would've wasted the seven hours it took me to get halfway through it.Maybe it's because her chemistry with Park Hyung Sik was off the charts, and so this in comparison is awful, but I don't know because I watched this BECAUSE people said it was their fave drama ever. The other reason I finished this is because I didn't want to have multiple dramas I quit (I had just quit Kill Me Heal Me because the main female lead is absolutely insufferable).

Small Season One Review
Okay, so I went into this not realizing I was starting a show that wasn't completed, which is something I really try not to do as I'm too impatient. lolThis series was a bit difficult to follow in the beginning with all the time jumping, but I stuck with it and I'm glad I did. The FL Jung Ji Ahn (Kim Hye Joon) was getting on my nerves a bit because there were a few times in the beginning where I was like, "Is she gonna pick up the pace or take this a little more seriously?" lol In retrospect it wasn't just her. It's that there are all these high level assassins attacking two kids so aggressively and yet also not nearly aggressively enough. Like the drones had ample opportunities to kill both of them right in their heads. Hence why I thought she should've been moving faster to at least make this look more realistic.
Most importantly, my husband Lee Dong Wook did a great job as Jung Jin Man. Right away when we learned who he really was and that he died I was like, "There's no way!! The show starring him is going to be all flashback style!?" Anyways, he was amazing.
Unique storyline and amazing acting. The flashback where we're introduced to Bale and come to know why JIn Man hates him was intense and brutal. Jo Han Sun is way too good an actor because just seeing his face makes me irrationally angry. Also, he just pulls off the psychopathic, soulless aura of Bale.
I knew this show was shorter than the usual 16-20 episode dramas, but I swore I thought it was 10 episodes. So imagine my shock when I'm at work, I've just heated up my dinner, and I start my show where I left off, the last few minutes of episode 8 and THERE HE IS. Jin Man. ALIVE! So I went to go to episode 9 and was shattered to discover no such episode exists and that's the end for now. Ruined my meal and my day. lol
Can't wait for season two. Hopefully it's not too long a wait.

Only Issue is the Female Lead
I really enjoyed this drama but I do have one complaint. It's obvious how we're meant to feel about Eulji Hae Yi (Kim Hee Sun) in the beginning, but even later on when we're supposed to believe that she's changed and grown as a person, I feel like she really has not. There were definitely times where I was almost praying that she would be stuck in that body, in prison for agessss.I also don't feel like she's worthy of the male lead, by any stretch of the imagination. He was so nice and the only nice thing I can say about her is that AT BEST, she got a little less selfish.

Watched For Him, Struggled to Finish Because of Her
I watched this show shortly after I saw Boys Over Flowers because I was crushing on Kim Hyun Joong and I had no idea who she was so I was optimistic. It sort of started off okay but once Oh Ha Ni (Jung So Min) really started crushing on Baek Seung Jo (Kim Hyung Joong) she came off super, super creepy. Not to mention I had the same issue with her that I would later have with the female lead in Goblin, which is that she behaved so weirdly child-like that it grossed me out.
She was really working my nerves for most of the show, almost even more so than Yoon He Ra (Lee Si Young), and we're supposed to like one of them and dislike the other.

First and Favorite KDrama
This was the first KDrama I ever watched after a year of being very hesitant to start watching KDramas and listening to KPop despite my Korean friends urging me to in order to aid in my Korean language learning. So I guess it holds a special place in my heart, and I know I'm not alone. I do see tons of people saying "Ewww this did NOT age well." and I just roll my eyes because that tells me everything I need to know about them that they loved this show a few years ago but now suddenly they hate it and it's "problematic". It's a silly romcom.... chill out.
Anyways, this was my first exposure to everyone (obviously) and I loved the whole cast. To this day Lee Min Ho is a top favorite of mine, as is Kim Bum (especially after I saw him in Tale of the Nine Tailed and really fell in love). I was also really in love with Kim Hyun Joong and went on a binge of watching anything with him in it for awhile after this. Side note: Playful Kiss is insufferable. lol
This show had me up and down and all over the place. The only thing that disappointed me was that the ending felt really rushed and that she clearly had no business going into the field she went in to. Sorry, but come on.

No Complaints
I'm well aware that I give many dramas a 10/10, and the reason is, if I don't have any real complaints, and I had a good time watching it, then it's a 10/10 for me. This is one of those shows.I will say that this was the second drama I've ever seen Park Shin Hye (female lead) in and the first one left a bad taste in my mouth. So I did have to overcome comparing her with her character in Pinocchio (who drove me nuts), but she did a really good job of shaking that image for me.
I thought the whole cast was great to be honest, even the obnoxious ones. I'm well aware that Choi Young Do (Kim Woo Bin) is supposed to be especially awful and you're meant to hate him and then slowly come around and maybe even feel a bit sorry for him, but I feel like I wound up liking him before I was meant to. lol. He was just really funny and charismatic.

Female Lead Was the Only Problem
So many people love this drama, but I feel like the same amount of people also complain about the age gap with the main couple. I don't have an issue with it as he is meant to be like 900 years old so it's whatever. The issue I had is that the female lead acted like a literal 12 year old for most of the movie.Again, she's meant to be like 18 or whatever, which some people already had an issue with, but why did she act so child-like the whole movie? It was super annoying and gave me the creeps. Like, a little part of me hated on him for liking her when she's like that, but mostly it was just her behavior that gave me the creeps.
I honestly only finished this because Lee Dong Wook is my absolute favorite actor ever and the bromance between him and Gong Yoo's character was AMAZING. Female lead is the reason for the 9/10 above, and despite her being super cringey, I would totally re-watch this just to experience the bromance again.

What A Phenomenal Drama
This is an intense show already. I'm on episode four and man, just seeing ML, Si-Eun (Park Ji-Hoon) smile for the first time is pretty remarkable. I also just finished Twinkling Watermelon a few days ago so it's nice to see Choi Hyun Wook again. Can't wait to see Ryeoun as well! That tiny shred of happiness was very short-lived. What on Earth is Beom-Seok's (Hong Kyung) problem?
The way these people don't communicate is killing me. First Yeongi (Lee Yeon) doesn't tell Si-Eun about the message from Beom-Seok, then Si-Eun doesn't tell Su-Ho (Choi Hyun Wook) about the bad guys holding Yeongi hostage.
Beom-Seok such a vile, pathetic, disgusting excuse for a human. He's worse than the actual OG bullies because at least they accept who they are. What's crazy is I saw multiple people saying he was actually portrayed far worse in the web toon.
This fricking cliff hanger. I hate it all so much. I swear when I looked it up prior to starting this, it said that Weak Hero Class 2 came out in 2024. Boy am I bummed out that it hasn't even started! Regardless, this show was amazing and the actor's absolutely crushed it.

Super Sweet, Super Funny Drama
This is the first drama in a long while that I have absolutely sailed through because I was enjoying it so much. The cast is phenomenal, and I mean all of them. I will say that ML's mom from the past, Cheong-Ah (Shin Eun-Soo) did really start getting on my nerves. I understand she had a horrible childhood, but even when the boy she likes finally starts to do nice things for her, rescue her, etc., she storms off grumpy. She stormed off on Se Kyung (Seol In Ah) when they were all at that cabin and I was like, "Wow I don't even know what she's mad about this time!" Legitimately. I still have no idea even after I played it back. That got old quickly.
My only real complaint about this show is that it got incredibly difficult to follow the story near the beginning. and even more difficult to figure out who is who and when we're in the past vs the future. It made things very confusing for a good awhile. Not to mention, I suppose it's a key part of the explanation of the plot, but the fact that Se Kyung and her daughter were both played by the same actress (Seol In Ah), made it even worse in the beginning since I was already struggling with so many people and never being sure what year it was. lol
One more very minor complaint is that some of the plot lines, certain scenes, etc., just drag on too long for no reason. I found myself skipping forward in 10 second increments quite a bit. They had some of those moments where they're meant to sit quietly for dramatic effect, but there were too many and they went on for too long at times. Felt like lazy filler.
Oh, I also wish Eun Gyeol (Ryeoun) and Se Kyung (Seol In Ah) had pieced together that they were both from the future, must sooner than they did. I mean Squid Games? And not even a question from him. Could've been really cool if Ha Yi Chan (Choi Hyun Wook) actually did believe Eun Gyeol about being from the future. Obviously it ruins part of the magic and story, but I feel like that would've been fun.
The ending did seem a bit rushed. Considering how many times I hit the skip ahead 10 seconds button, I feel like they definitely could have used their time better. I wasn't sure how it would work with Cheong Ah not being told by her father what happened to Yi Chan, and being whisked off to America, but I am happy with the ending. Especially that dad got to live the life he wanted, at least to some degree.
I had high hopes for this as it had a 9.2 rating when I started it, and I've noticed people on here are not as generous as I am with my ratings, and I was right. It was a phenomenal drama.

Soooo Pleasantly Surprised!!
So most of the dramas I watch are romcoms, and for this one, I let my co-worker choose from my "plan to watch" list as I have such a hard time deciding what to watch next. I was unsure for the first 1-2 episodes, but I find I feel like that with almost all dramas just because it's new at the time and I'm still not over whatever drama I just finished. lolSo for this review I actually made notes on this site as I watched it so I wouldn't forget things so some of this will be written as if I'm currently watching it. I'm going to make bullet points.
* So far the sister is irritating because she is VERY "woe is me". I get he's where he is because of her (at least in her mind), but it's enough already. He's the one in prison, then he's the one forced to retire from the job he loves, and she's over here sobbing away feeling sorry for herself. To make it worse, she won't even visit him. She's really pissing me off.
* I feel ZERO chemistry between ML and his girlfriend. Maybe it's his dry personality in the beginning, but I don't care about them as a couple at all. He has more chemistry with his best friend and other prisoners than he does her.
* I was SO happy that Crony turned out the way he did. That was a great direction to take that storyline. I also (at the time) loved the college girl visiting and writing a paper on Min Chul. Little did I know!!! ML's girlfriend being "too busy" to visit was just as annoying as the sister doing the same thing to him.
* He just can't figure out how to pitch straight, and 'ex-gf' comes up with the idea to put an X in the glove and suddenly that solves it and she's a genius who knows him better than anyone and no one else could have pulled that off. Really? Like it hadn't occurred to him to aim at the glove before the X? *eye roll*
* I do NOT want to do another villain arc where someone tries to kill him but here we are with the wood shop guy scheming in the greenhouse.
* NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO Please tell me this was a fever dream and he did not do ALL that hard work, for a year, quitting drugs, only to immediately do them again the moment he left. I swear to god, I will riot.
* Stating the obvious here, but Lt. Na is an insufferable grunt.
* His POS sister has still not visited. On top of that she's dating his best friend, who is also a guard there. What a shitty sister.
* I'm so happy that Lt. Paeng went to his daughter's career day. Crony being left behind made me sad, even though he did some heinous shit, and he'll obviously have the company of Captain Yoo for awhile. Also, would've liked to see him get out as well, maybe even Crony, so they could all meet up like they talked about.
* I love that Min-Chul had a daughter and that she reached out.
* The entire story is amazing and the friendships and chemistry is unmatched with this cast. I could've done without the girlfriend as there's no chemistry there. I also could've done without the sister because she was insufferable and selfish. They could've just had him saving any random chick.
I wanted to give this a 10/10 but I cannot forgive Loony's ending. It doesn't make any sense for his character. NONE. Also, I hated that we didn't get to see them all out of prison living their lives, or at least meeting up. Even if they just did a flash forward like they did with ML.
