I rarely ever write reviews and can never find the time for them but this one deserves one. It never got the spotlight or attention it truly deserved and now that it is over, I plan to give it the recognition that is due.

Through this story, I have realized what separates Asian movies from Western ones. While Western ones are built upon conflict, Asian ones are focused on relations and interaction. The difference is glaring. How one takes out the enemy versus how one changes because of the enemy. This story is the latter.

This story is one that I watched every week, enduring the cliffhangers and thirst for the truth. One where I would go on this site after ever episode, checking other people's comments and opinions. One where I checked dramabean after every update to see minds at work and passionate discussions. Besides anime, I have never done this in my life and I did not regret it. With these types of mysteries, it is hard to move the story along or make a good ending but this did just that. Even when you think the story isn't moving, it is and with every seemingly unimportant shot can be the answer to the mystery.

The cinematography took my breath away, sank my eyes deep into that world as it showed me a story. The attention to detail, the beautiful transitions between episodes and the episode numbers!! (If you have watched, you know what I'm talking about. ) The attention and work put into something most viewers wouldn't even catch, my respects to all that worked on this project.

The music was not an independent variable in this production but was an element that enhanced the story. It was the natural background that fits with every scene. It was never placed incorrectly or never stole the spotlight. It simply did its part. I could listen to this drama OST for the rest of my life and not be tired. I went to look for the 1-hour version right after release.

The actors, Oh my. I have been keeping a watchful eye on Kim Seo Hyung since Sky Castle and her role as Young-Jin really left a mark on me. I forgot she even played that role after watching this. I now can only see her as Young Jin. You kind of have to watch for yourself to believe it but everyone's acting was amazing. From someone's eye, the change in emotion can be traced. Not one of these actors made me think of their roles beyond this drama. Their character, persona sunk deep. Their ability to bring a written character to life like that amazes me.

I know the mystery killer kinda plot isn't everyone's cup of tea, and it doesn't have to be. BUT if you are even a little bit interested in witnessing the growth and relationship of these people, I say give it a watch. I think for all those who have watched, it wasn't a disappointment or a waste of time. The lessons and takeaways being told through an adult and child stick and kind of mess you up. It slaps the problems of the world in your face and forces you to acknowledge their existence. AND so, I implore you, give it a chance. Maybe, it will change you too.

To avoid making this longer...I will leave this with that. I hope it enlightens your soul :)

"A very sweet, and awefully bitter dream."

The masterpiece of a Webtoon is adapted into a drama. My mind sank :(
It sank at the thought of sadness as I grew attached to the cruel story of an unchangeable past filled with regret and how it latched itself onto the people of the present. But, with a hesitant heart, I watched and was reminded again that as much pain as this story brings me, I love it so much.

In the context of the drama, this is a story that focuses on the past and present stories all at once. It was a story that helped me see suicide and life in a different way. The drama, while slightly behind the webtoon, did beautifully in depicting such an intense and challenging story. I really think this is something everyone should watch. The beauty of the story, the bittersweet journey knowing the ending, and the lesson it leaves for the present and to us as watchers. There were some added plot points that I felt were not needed even though I understood why they were added. It just made the story a bit messy.

The fact that I immediately went back to the Webtoon to bask in it because I was so reluctant to leave it is a testament to the power it held.

The acting, Ha Min and So Mang carried. Maybe it was because their story was so impacting, because the actors made them so real and alive, that the rest of the cast (aside from Sunhee) fell short. The emotional scenes really made it hard for me to concentrate on the present cast's emotions. It felt stiff at times.

If I am going, to be honest, I only know one song from the OST and so the rating is a bit low. If I had my way, I would have given the overall rating a 10 just for the story but :/ alas, here I am. I will listen to the rest one day (today probably) and try to piece together my heart but for now, the OST left little impact.

Now, I will definitely be rewatching this and rereading the Webtoon. Why? Because it is relevant. Because it taught me that while the result was due to other people and many circumstances, it was no one's fault. It propelled me to have the courage to unhesitantly offer a hand to someone in need. It helped me want to remember things in a positive light while being able to move past it and live my own. It was a story that resonated with me. One that made me feel for Ha Min because he was just really, really tired and wanted to rest a bit. It made me feel for So Mang that was so stuck in the past and full of guilt. It made me sad to see Ha min in his brother, Jae Min as he had to deal with being the outlet everyone is rectifying their guilt using. They are all very kind people that couldn't bear to hate the world that was testing them. :(

I hope, no one reading this has to bear with it alone and those that do, grab onto the hand that reaches out to them. I also hope, we all find the courage to offer a hand to someone in need. I hope this story touches you in some way. I hope you read the Webtoon after watching it.

For those who have lost someone, I hope the past liberates you as it did for So Mang in the end.

It is a shame, that Ha Min didn't see himself the same way So Mang saw him. That he shined so brilliantly and was her light. I hope everyone can see this in themselves, or at least believe it for someone in your life probably thinks that way :)

okay, I'm done. This review was just thought vomit and not very organized :/ Needless to say, I LOVED IT! YOU SHOULD ALL WATCH!! One thing though. The letter. I know most want her to read it and a part of me does too, but we know what she was to him and we know how he felt about her. There was nothing in that letter that would change that and so I think it is better left unread.

I could write some meta analysis, but we would be here all day. just give it a shot. don't be that person that comes back 4 years later, regretting the skip.

I waited a full week for the next episode and then realized that it was over...

Let me start by saying, I was gonna write one when it ended. It just hadn't registered that it ended. I watched the last episode when it came out and then patiently waited until now, which is when I realized that it had already ended. I am either still losing brain cells or my brain decided that I was not worthy of it and it stopped working on me.

First off, the story. It was a good story filled with excitement, mystery, and anticipation. Though, a disclaimer is that I watched it with my sister and she had a hard time following and focusing because of the fantasy element. All she could think about was how awkward it must have been for the actors to pretend in certain situations. I couldn't help but laugh. Putting that aside though, it was a very heart-moving story. I didn't cry...but I was definitely sad. I think a lot of things world-building-wise could have been done better or clarified but it was overall pretty good.

As for the acting, the actors were actually the reason I went to check it out in the first place. The actors even went on Knowing Bros to advertise it so I had to give it a try. The acting was done really well!!! I forgot that these people played other roles and on-screen, they were their own characters. There was no moment where I thought they were really out of character nor was there any moment where there was any real bad acting either. I think a big part of why I liked it was because the actors did such an amazing job portraying the characters and emotions that went along with each event.

The music. I actually gave it a 7.5 because before looking it up again. I didn't even remember what kind of music it had...I guess I wasn't really engrossed enough or the music didn't resonate with me enough to stick in my mind. Whatever it was, I felt kinda sorry for no reason. I did give it a higher score than I would have because on the listen independently from the drama. I actually really enjoyed it and began to question why I didn't remember any tracks.

For rewatch value, I actually gave it a 7 because I didn't think of rewatching it after I finished. It is a great story but I felt like aside from certain scenes, I wouldn't enjoy the rewatch as much. Though I haven't rewatched it yet so this part might change for better or worse. I do think I gave it a higher score than I would have because there are a lot of ways you can look into the story and its messages as time goes by.

I think an 8 is actually appropriate because it is a good, well-written story with an amazing cast that helped bring it to life. Through this, you can rediscover the more veteran actors while rewriting your opinion of newer ones. The only thing I would say is this is a more heavy (?) story and that there will probably be a group of people out there that don't like it. I did get a bit bored or tired watching some parts while others kept my eyes peeled to the screen and screaming when the credits came.

Like all my other reviews, I say give it a try. If it isn't for you, that's cool. If you like it, that's cool too. Wherever you stand, at least you gave it the shot it deserved before you formed an opinion on it.

After four years, I decided to rewatch this drama to celebrate the inevitable doom that is college. If I had written a review the first time around, it would have been given a score of around 6 or 7. Now, words cannot properly describe how much I enjoyed and related to it. A lot can happen in four years and one can mature, growing due to the events life brings us. My high school teachers always told us to reread those mandatory books again later in life because there are just some things better understood and appreciated with time. I now understand why.

Let me start with the story, at the beginning, it would seem like the generic, perfect boy that is always at the top of the class will fall in love with the girl. wow. But, this story does it in a more realistic way. Presenting the idea of perfect in the eye of the public and reality can be different and far removed at times. The characters aren't these perfect people that get top of the class without studying but aren't book worms that can't have fun. The misunderstandings, teacher-student relationships, friendships, family, and a story of first loves are all amazingly done and refreshing to watch. There is nothing super crazy that makes me tired or drained which I really liked and I related to it a lot more. I enjoyed the realistic decisions we have to make in life and school towards something. The realistic portrayal of people and their change after events shake them was just another point of amazement for me. Even after school, it presents the different worries, problems, and joys of being an adult. It is a really good take on youth and the change that comes with adulthood. As for the ending, I actually think the ending was fine but it left a little more to be desired and some of the plots near the end were a bit too extreme. In conclusion, it was a rollercoaster, as life is.

The casting was actually really great. There was no character that I tilted my head at in confusion for a strange casting or any real acting that I found too awkward or overdone. If it was then I saw it as part of the character and didn't mind it. While I was relatively newer to Chinese dramas four years ago and didn't really recognize a lot of the characters, the second time around I did and it was really cool to see some familiar faces.

For the OST, I go by my standard of if it reminds me of the drama and certain scenes, it is a good OST track. This drama did that. Even before I decided on the rewatch, my YouTube autoplay the OST and I thought of the drama right away. It was actually one of the reasons I decided to rewatch it. The OST is cheery in some, moving in others, and really fit an array of emotions. I really enjoyed it.

As a rewatch, I think this will only get better with time. Four years ago, I watched as a young student who knew no fear or setback much like them in high school. Now. I can relate more to the struggles they felt towards the end of high school and into college. As time goes by, I feel I can better understand and relate to different characters in various situations or stages of life. Though the story mainly focuses on the main four, there are many other stories and voices that help build the world they live in and give that sense of reality. Maybe one day, I will look back on the lessons and takeaways the drama gives as a parent or a grandma. With these, I think my understanding and appreciation can only get better with time.

Overall, I think I enjoyed this one. Whether it was for the story, characters, relatability, or even the refreshing youthfulness, I think there is a place for it in my heart that I won't forget. I actually started to draw again and take it more seriously as a child because of this drama. You got to draw inspiration from somewhere. This was also the first time I got second lead syndrome and was still okay with the way it ended. More than the love story and quest for a career, I enjoyed this story's focus on youth and the friends we make in life. I think the friendship between Lu Zhi Ang and Fu Xiao Si is actually my favorite part of the entire thing.

Well anyway, I think it made me think back to my middle and high school days. It was a good rewatch before hitting my spring semester. Time to ride my bike and grab some cola. (if you know, you know.)

My Brain Fart (Very long)

This was a drama of youth, love, motivation, and all of life. It expressed a realistic immaturity at times and a daunting slap of reality in the cruel maturity expressed by students rushing off to discover their lives beyond the walls of their classroom. I was, in more than a few words and for more than one reason, sad and happy throughout this. My will to be objective disappears and I am almost tempted to rewatch it instead of doing my work today.

The story surrounds Ding Xian and Zhou Si Yue as they start high school. The introduction slaps us with the harsh reality yet to come before sweeping us into the past. It was sweet. Seeing Ding Xian smile with glee whenever Si Yue became her deskmate again, seeing the main lead that was smart, but not cold and had friends. It was cute and a pleasure to see Ding Xian's love for Si Yue mold her youth, fuel her with ambition and hopes for the future, and better her in ways she probably couldn't have on her own. It was nice to see him become her support and evidently her world. While it seems that all her dreams revolved around him at the time, it was still lovely to see the gradual influence he had on her life.

But, just because one works hard, doesn't mean they always accomplish their goals. Everyone works hard. So why work hard when there is no guarantee that it will pay off and the results don't show all that hard work? Zhou Si Yue says it is so we don't regret it. I think this is very powerful and an idea they echo quite often. It also highlights one of the main differences between Ding Xian and Zhou Si Yue. Ding Xian is often lost, driven by outside factors and personal sentiments. She lives in the moment so that she won't regret it later but she fantasizes about the limitless possibilities of her choices, constantly stuck on the "what ifs." Zhou Si Yue is driven and knows exactly what he wants in almost every aspect of his life. He works towards things, whether they be academic, family, or love goals. He does not see the "what ifs" or ponder on them because it has already been done and he feels he did everything in his power while it happened. He is definitely the "don't regret your actions because they were yours made very consciously at some moment in time" type of guy.

This brings us to college. At this point, the YouTube comments section was going insane at both the characters. Ding Xian repeated a year with ambition in hopes of attending the same college as Si Yue and making it there. There is a lot of context to these decisions that are to come and so if I don't clarify them :/ Go watch for yourself. She chooses computing as her major despite having great talent and a love for the arts. At this moment, her love for Si Yue completely drives her life, and as unhealthy as it is, I understand. He was someone who encouraged her and gave her a goal along with the support to reach it. I think it was a very realistic development given all we had seen. Everyone was whining and flabbergasted when she repeated a year of studies for him essentially and if it were me, I don't think I could even name a scenario where I would do the same... if one did exist. But I understood that it was more than following his path in life but it was about proving to herself that she can. Her admiration of such an amazing person with such great ambition made her want to better herself to suit him. She wanted to catch up and stand on equal ground. I think a lot of it comes from her position in her family and her more timid, insecure personality. It made him happy that she wanted to better herself and pursue something, a goal higher than one she wanted on her own. He opened up the world outside of hers and a possibility for other things.

Zhou Si Yue, oh dear. I was feeling sad, frustrated, and all the emotions in between during this time. His father was being investigated so he had to leave for college early, he returned in hopes of comforting Ding Xian just to realize she is doing all this for him, he tries to light up her night with fireworks just to get a call about his very sick father, he gets in a fight, leaves the dorms, and works multiple jobs constantly to sustain his dream and family. Every time I saw his eyes, they were just so dead, sad, and constantly between tears or nothingness. When Ding Xian went to find him, his eyes flashed some hope, then a smile, then some sweet expressions before they hardened with restraint and became a dam about to burst. I don't think his decision to avoid and cut Ding Xian out of his life along with the pain it caused her can be justified but it was explained rather well. He was financially unstable. He didn't have the time, means, or mental to handle anything but what was already on his plate. He almost didn't want to taint her worry-free, single-minded pursuit with his problems. I am glad she stuck by him and opened up his heart, making him realize her place in his heart and life. I am also SOO grateful for his father for the talk they had. The talk was so well done and it pushed him in the right direction of being someone that was deserving of love and a life of happiness. While his delivery could have been better, I am glad he didn't accept her because she was choosing to study something because of him rather than because it was interesting to her. I think him being a ball of undigested emotions really propelled the story. haha. I think that period of time was really helpful for her in analyzing herself independently from him. I was also really happy when they showed his pursuit efforts. That love isn't one-sided and that he shook her world enough to make her hesitate. I was a bit sad for Su Bo Cong senior because he was what Ding Xian would have become without the support pillars that were her friends and I feel for his innocence warped to match and survive in a rather cold and cruel society. The difference was that DIng Xian and Si Yue had it. It helped them overcome their hurdles and made them realize that having a shoulder to cry on might not be all that bad. No need to be strong all the time. I am glad that Zhou Si Yue got to go abroad and took the opportunity because if Ding Xian didn't convince him :/ I would have been so sad that he gave up something he worked towards for so long.

Speaking of which. When they were having the farewell party for him, Oh my. The scene where Song Zi Qi was crying and saying all those things. It made me so happy that they had each other then, but also so sad because it speaks to his character. He was always handling things on his own and bottling everything up. His compassion is really highlighted in those few lines and even though they never show what things he "took on" for Zi Qi, we can imagine it because the author had given me such a clear image of what sort of person he is. When his other friend told him that he would become the Si Yue he wants to be ;-; I was touched as it spoke to his efforts, ambitions, and aspirations. He is someone respected and cherished by his peers and I hope he saw it. His breaking down after they left was probably a mix of things. I like to think it was relief and affirmation of his friends' feelings towards him, gratefulness that he had such friends that were with him supporting him, and also sad that he has to part from them.

On the friends topic, all the friends they made and couples that came out of it were so cute!! It was so entertaining and interesting rather than the generic "I am friends with you so the love triangle gets resolved cleanly" person. The professors were also amazing and really added to my motivation to study as well as finish the drama hehe.

In the end, it didn't matter what their secret was because we knew :) I think this was one of the greatest youth dramas I've watched. I was glad I watched it when I did as it made me realize that I want to work hard so I don't regret not doing so earlier and trust that I will gain something from the hard work beyond whatever result I am seeking, that if I really failed to reach the moon, I tried my best rather than run away and escape with the mountain of excuses at my disposal. I want to take responsibility for my actions and life. I want to express a level of maturity, at least in that sense.

There is just too much that can be unpacked. I could write so much more (chemistry, parents, etc.) but I would be here forever and frankly, I would rather eat, sleep, watch it again, find something else or maybe do my homework. That last one might not happen just yet but :/ who knows. I know actually, I am going to put the OST on repeat for a while while I figure the rest out.

people fall sometimes...

When talking about death, it is often a concept so familiar yet foreign, far away and something we don't have to think on for most our life. It is not something we generally comprehend or understand the weight of until much later in life. For Lin Tou, it became a reality that drove him to do more, be better, and mend aspects of his life that he saw no urgency in before. It was cruel, to watch someone of a similar age, that was just starting out in life...being forced to tie together loose end and prepare for something like death. That is exactly the kind of story this is. A heavy story of very kind and fortunate people that were dealt a very unfortunate hand...one where they are confronted with how unfair and cruel the world can be...regardless...it was one that should not be watched lightly. Here I am though...haha to convince you to watch it anyway.

Why? It tells the story of the unpredictability of life as well as all the familiar aspects of life that cause one to rethink where they are and what really matters to them. It questions various relationships and how they are impacted, strained or strengthened by illness. The sibling relationship, parent relationship, and even the bittersweet love. It outlines something I think was huge. It was the choice of how one lives, the choice we give others in staying or leaving our life. I think this drama did a great job outlining the choices that were made given these relationship...it was all very human. It was the embodiment of the idea that love is a choice..that everyone is capable of making. It was something imperfect that could not really be faulted. It is also a rude awakening, I'm sure many who are reading are people who are just starting out in life, still finding their direction, and courage to face their dreams. In a world where c-dramas are often overflowing with feelgood, youth dramas about high schoolers that found the courage to chase their dreams and confront their insecurities...it was so cruel and hard to watch. To see someone that was past that and excited for the adventures of adulthood navigate the sudden deadline given to them...

It also made me think about all the difficult conversations that are to be had. How that sort of diagnosis not only impacts the patient but everyone around them. Here I was, the idiot that watched for Lin Yi and Landy Li, entering more lightheartedly than I should have. It is a bit hard to really analyze what made me love it without spoiling but it was heavy in a realistic way while still outlining the sense of love and support to be had for life despite such a cruel fate.

The acting was great! I loved the way some of the characters were written in terms of their actions as well as thought process. I was often clenching my fists in anger or pity. Other times just straight sad.

I think this is something that will resonate with most as this is a lesson better learnt now than later...that life works in mysterious ways. That no matter how much we prepare in life, it often isn't enough...It is a scary thought, that not all people die of old age...that not everyone meant to stay in your life is there forever. Life is so fickle...

There is a specific thing Lin Tou says that really resonates with me...that his fateful counter was the beginning of his fortune but also the beginning of her misfortune. It showcased the other side, the suffering the caregivers and loved ones endure...how it can be different from the patient and often one guilt filled. It also showed that every story has two sides. That in this very sweet and lovely moment, it could feel so lonely and bitter for the future him. It shows how he looked back on the moment and it isn't even a question of whether he regrets their encounter or not. It was the realization for me...that other people live their lives the same way I do and despite how insignificant I think my actions are...they are very much perceived and impact the lives of others. Maybe that is a weird thing to suddenly realize and I have definitely thought of it before but this moment made me question myself a bit.

Anyway...if you are in the mood for some tears or at least sad thoughts...as well as an excuse to rethink your life decisions...re-evaluate what you find important to you..I would give it a go! There is much to take away. Like the parents said...there is a test for most things...but there is really no test that prepares anyone for something like this. I truly hope no one has to be...

VIVA LA VIDA~ Long live Life!

Let me start by saying. I adored it. I resented it. I also found myself going back to it, squinting my eyes and looking between the lines. The layers are just folded so perfectly. Twinkling Watermelon is cute, heartwarming, a bit heartbreaking, and relentless.

The story. It is the story of many people and many communities, that are shaped by way too many events. First is the story of Eun Gyeol, the body who feels pressure and burden from being the only "hearing" member of his family. He made mistakes that made his love for music hard and he always feels guilty. Guilty for not being part of his family and guilty for not wanting to be defined/weighed down by this while wrestling with his love for them. We also have the story of Eun Yu. The drama just does a great job of weaving between them while presenting to us the idea that everyone was someone before they are placed into the roles of "mom" and "dad", "son" and "daughter."
The time travel was a brilliant way of giving these two their youth and a place to be themselves as well as understand the people they had such strong feelings towards in their own time. It also helped them see who those people were and what experiences they went through. I also liked that it wasn't some guilt trip, treat your parents better but more of a rediscovery of their parents that they clearly loved and wanted to understand more. That it became a means of courage to face them in the future.
I - mmy heart. I know going into the past means things change. I also know it was on purpose, but the one thing I wanted to change, didn't change. It was heart wrenching, but I also knew it was the pivotal lesson they wanted to teach beyond all this. It is that this experience is supposed to fuel one with the courage and insight to look forward into the future rather than trap yourself into the what ifs of the past. They weren't going there to save their parents but give them the validation and courage to become a better version of themselves in the future. As much as I hated it, I loved that the accident was something that was meant to be. As it really shows that changing a pivotal life event and running away from the reality of having to convince your deaf parent of your love for music is not the solution to the problems he faces. It also means we shouldn't run from the problems we face either and tackling the problem instead. That mindset is huge for me. The idea that we should use what we have been given to its fullest and let the disadvantages act as a driving force .
There were just so many people that I cared about, that played a role in things, that I was so happy to see again as time went by.

It was a huge moment of reflection for me. What things am I running away from? What things do I wish I could change if given the change?

If I am going to be honest, I watched this because I am a huge fan of our actors Choi Won Young and Choi Hyun Wook. I also wanted to see Seol In Ah again but the cast really grew on me. They all suited their characters and there were so many scenes where the acting really swept me off my feet. It was just so cuteeee.

I honestly don't remember much of the music while watching but I enjoyed a bunch of it while studying. The opening though is a banger.

As it is a big life lesson one, I think the rewatch value is endless. I will also be replaying Cheong Ah smiling clips forever and maybe learn some ASL as well.

The pacing towards the middle can be a bit slow for the people wanting to move the story but I loved it as it really showed the lives of the people in the past (they had regrets too). It was the whole reason they went back in time after all. Give it a try :) I'm sure something will get you to stay. If you do, I hope the lessons, feelings, and experience you get from it sticks and you are able to carry it into some aspect of your life. :)

Have a nice life everyone! You are your own person and while you don't need to life for someone else and can try living through someone else, no one can live your life the same way you do. It might not garner the same results but it will definitely be fulfilling. I hope you take a moment and embrace the youth you can experience now before you have to become a "mom", "dad", "aunt" or "uncle" for someone else. VIVA LA VIDA~ Long live Life!

There is a lot to talk about

**SPOILER is at the bottom and I do warn you. You can definitely read this without the spoiler and get a sense of what was said as I was basically ranting as the spoiler**

With you follows a similar storyline with many others in its class. Tropes such as a love triangle, cutthroat grades, first love, growth, and the future are all explored as we follow the journey of an ever-evolving group of friends. In simple terms, it was a cute comedy that captured the essence of youth and romance. There is much debate on the ending but I will get to that later.

I actually came across this through YouTube autoplay. I was listening to the OST of "Go Ahead," another drama with the female lead, Seven Tan. Her acting skills are amazing. She perfectly played the role as well as portraying the passage of time. The male lead was not as eye-catching and some emotions weren't as pronounced (?) as others but he is still quite the performer. Not once did I question whether he and anyone else was in character or not.

While my level of investment was average, the plot and characters stuck with me more than the music did. In other words, there was no track or theme that was playing in my head at the thought of this drama or the more heavy impact scenes. So... I did what anyone would have done and looked it up! To my surprise, I recognize quite a few and could even name a scene in which they were played. I think I will forget them though so let's see... In general, this was definitely more plot skewed and the OST played a very passive role in the background. Nothing made me want to look it up after watching because I couldn't reassociate it with the drama.

I do think the rewatch value is quite high, as they are growing up and I too will be able to better understand the struggles, situations, and emotions they felt. It is impossible to watch it in the same way as the first time, like all things. Though, I do want to come back to this as I get older and forget it some.

Now, the ending....I will say it was rushed and lots of ground was covered in the span of the two episodes. There were many things it was lacking and everyone will (most likely) agree on that. There was no insight as a viewer on how Lu Xing He, Yu Huai, or Geng Geng really thought during various cruel plot points. The ending was executed poorly and made for a tough last two episodes BUT others than that, I disagree with the "majority." Yes, the ending was rushed but there were numerous scenes and moments that foreshadow it. Sure it went down kind of badly and bashed everyone's fairytale but that is reality and love does not conquer all.

***SPOILER SECTION...Come back after you have watched it........****

For those that hated the ending and bashing Yu Huai's choices and blaming him or Geng Geng's choice on who she wanted to be with, I have a bone to pick with you. Sure, it was a dick move but you can't sit there and pretend like the reason wasn't a good one or you would have handled it better fresh out of high school. His dad works away from home, his mom is working hard and gets sick. The amount of pressure he was already under combined with the stress of all that and the added financial burden on a HIGHSCHOOL student with no income and a newly crushed confidence. It probably destroyed him and his mental space. Because he is a caringly unselfish and logical person, evident in his love of physics and character, he decided not to drag her down. The argument of "He should have told her. She could have helped." HOW?!?! Geng Geng loves him and would follow him literally anywhere and he loves her too. But he doesn't want that right now. He has too much on his plate. Geng Geng after those ten years was successful and made a name for herself. If she had gone with him, with the money problem alone, it is not realistic to say she could have achieved the same results. It was said in the first episode: He was his best self then while she became her best self later in life. Her choice to choose him now, even after ten long and painful years? Simply, because she still loves him. With him finishing his Ph.D. and her success, the previous barrier no longer exists. Everyone feels bad for Lu Xing He to some extent as someone who devoted his youth to her and stuck around. he supports her, waited for her, and stuck with her but if she chose him for that reason alone, it would be out of pity and obligation. Neither one would be happy. Simply because she doesn't love him and it sucks because we know who she likes, even he does. That is why it is painful, but we know. It isn't about who deserves her more or did more. The second lead syndrome and choice felt stupid, but basing Geng Geng's decision and criticizing a choice Yu Huian made due to circumstance and love is not it. Lu Xing He took back the ring because he understood her and her feelings so well. Geng Genf forgave Yu Huain because she could understand. Why can't you?

**End of the spoiler, I think...hehe (?)***

The drama, characters, and ending all had their own degree of realisticness and that is one of the reasons I loved this. Getting a dose of reality in a drama is normal as the writers also live in that same reality. Relationships come in all different forms as well as coming and leaving as it pleases, often returning to tease us. Love can't conquer all and it doesn't have to. A realistic end to splash us back and reflect on the reality we came here to avoid. Very poetic if you ask me.
It was an enjoyable watch. :)

I tried...

Let me start this faithful and very late review. The college has been trolling me and so time is of the essence.
Before you ask, yes, I will discuss which of the two versions I like better but LATER. For now, I shall appreciate it as its own thing.
Let me start with the story. It really is a story of life, youth, and time. Things happen to the main character that changes her world view whether it is realizing that it can't always revolve around a boy or that certain things take responsibility and she needs to be held accountable. As for being a remake, I love some changes and I thought some others were better left alone. Some scenes kept did not have as much impact as the original and some scenes changed both fell flat and brought the bomb. There was variety :) The beginning was especially rushed and fast-paced due to the difference in episode count but I did feel that they could have done a better job. After around ep 3-5, the story worked itself out and got back on pace. True to the original but able to make it its own :) got to love it.
The Acting and Cast? I loved it. There was no moment where I thought :/ or really wished someone else took the roles. What else is there to say? I felt that I could tell by looking at the character and the way they all spoke which their Chinese counterpart was. I feel that is one of the greatest compliments to a cast for a remake. I also enjoyed the dynamic and watching them really dawned on me new possibilities because I couldn't really imagine a new cast up until that point.
The OST? I will be singing it all day. It was actually what initially attracted me to watch the show other than the original. Whenever the song came up I was tapping my feat, humming along and my head swayed without my knowledge at times. This one song alone probably had more impact than most things. It was very enticing and really kept me watching. I still listen to it. I actually can't pick between this version or the original version of the song but it was a nice throwback surprise.
uhhh as for rewatching value...I actually gave it a 7 because it seems like a rewatch friendly show but I haven't rewatched it soo I can't really judge it quite ye. I haven't done a review for the original so I might rewatch both at one point to have a better opinion.
Overall, as a stand-alone it was great.

Now, THE STATEMENT of which I liked better.
It doesn't matter because I like both!! Like or dislike is a preference that has no bounds, if you want to discuss which one is objectively better as a critic, go ahead but preference is a number of things. There is really no winning no matter which one you liked more. I get flamed for liking the new one and I get flamed for liking the original because people think I am biased. Nostalgia is a factor, my dudes. Don't flame someone cause they liked whichever one more for whatever reason. Doesn't devalue or opinion or anything so why does it matter. It is not like you are gonna agree with them and turn a new leaf. haha, I apologize, a bit too charged for my taste but I needed to say it.
Which one would I watch again first? The original. Does that mean I like the original more? I don't know. If you really want an opinion, just watch it and form your own. It was a good show on its own and it managed to be a good remake as well. The original will always hold a place somewhere on the popular drama wall and people liking this remake more won't change that.
My opinion on what was better for each category :
OST: Korean
Story: Chinese
Actors: Tie

Let it be bound to me for life

It was a story of love, ambition for the world, friendship, and above all kindness. It was a web of people and the stories they had to tell. For some it was a story of loyalty. For others, it was one of revenge. It was interesting to see even the most insignificant side characters making a difference with what little screen time they had. All of them carried a will, a voice, and character that made them so interesting to analyze. For me, it was all of these things. It was a story of Hei-Bai Fengxi (sorry bai fengxi XD)

The story revolves around Bai Fengxi, a free spirit, roaming the martial world seeking justice and constantly at odds with Hei Fengxi. Known as a deadly goddess and renowned for her martial arts and free spirit, only the elegant and mysterious Hei Fengxi can match her. We follow them through trials of their individual personal life that gives rise to discoveries in their identity, the walls they break through together in the martial world, and the love that arises as they see one another's world. It was innocent, pure, and unbroken. It remained that way.
As much as it is a love story, it is one about world peace, aspiration, and identity. I have to say, I got a bit emotional whenever the characters found a spark in the life they live, whether it was love, following a respected person, or a pursuit for happiness. Even those who wished to rule the world had a drive in them, a fire that made me a bit envious. Despite the flaws one can find within this tale, I found myself not caring. It delivered me more than the eye-candy I was expecting and spun me into a philosophical spiral on how I should be living life. It was a refreshing look into a couple that wasn't toxic, listened to one another, and stood on equal ground. They were really made for each other. They made their own mark on the world and a name for themselves before coming together. They were their own person before a couple. They saved each other rather than the typical damsel in distress plotline :) It was interesting because in many wuxia and dramas of similar nature, there is always some sacrifice involved. While there was sacrifice here, it wasn't someone denying the others right to choose. It wasn't a selfish self-justified sacrifice for the other pair that allowed for no input from the other party. I think that was a real interesting point for me. They all had a say (when they were able to) and there weren't decisions being made for one another being justified by love or righteousness. I guess it was refreshing for characters to be selfish and admit it rather than fake this selfish and righteous motive. I have to say that this drama kept the line of right and wrong, while allowing its characters to step beyond them as "there is more to life than right and wrong."

I have to say, the OST is beautiful. It was one of emotion and lead the story along. I can think of at least three scenes for each OST upon a listen. That is pretty amazing. I have yet to actually re-watch it (aside from episodes while waiting for the others to air) but I know I will enjoy it. I will find myself smiling at the little interactions and keeping my eyes peeled for the little details I missed. There will be no experience quite like the first watch but it won't be a minus. I do think a clip spree every once in a while via youtube will be really fun and refreshing.

All in all, like most of the reviews I do for dramas that I just watched, the numbers of stars don't matter. No matter how good or bad a drama is, for me, the enjoyment I felt from it matters more. So while this was a 8 star (maybe even 7.5) drama, it was honestly a 9 or even 10 for me in enjoyment and there is nothing wrong with that.
I have to say, I will miss not staying up and waiting for it to drop. I guess it is time to re-watch as Netflix uploads :)

No spoilers but my favorite quote and most memorable section really encapsulated all of the characters struggles in some way. I hope both you and I find that one thread within the thousands of worry that we can't bear to let go, binding it to us forever.

To Youth!

Overbreak and the course of quarantine, I ran out of reasons to not watch this Chinese drama. I am writing this review for myself and for all the people that might be hesitant to watch this in the present or possible future.

I personally think that this drama did a wonderful job of capturing the youth and a more realistic representation of relationships (though it is still drama so there will be some unrealistic standards). The story touches on all the worries students have regarding the future and the possible hurdles in a relationship. In that sense, the story is amazing. I do think there were some storylines or scenes that should have been added in or cut from the drama as it sometimes made no sense. They did a great job of showcasing the change in relationships, bonds, and emotions that humans are bound to go through. The idea that all good things must come to an end (broadcast/radio club ;-;) really shined throughout.

The acting was interesting. Everyone did a good job in my opinion. I didn't really mind the acting aside from the occasionally forced emotions and awkward interactions the female lead has. Other than that, I never really had a problem with the acting. Of course, that also means I wasn't particularly amazed by any of it either. Though, I do think the two main male leads did a great job of bringing their characters to life.

As for the OST, I liked a few but most of the others didn't really stick. I actually liked the piano pieces more than the actual tracks playing at times. Regardless, I think the OST was pleasant and I would look it up to independent from the drama to listen again. This is actually one of the first times that I didn't particularly enjoy the entire OST soundtrack but rather a select few. I do enjoy the throwback to amazing artists of the 2000s though. :)

As for rewatching, this was a 10. I think the refreshing storyline (while being a bit generic) was also new. The main female lead went through that confusing love experience and her feelings were more realistic than I thought. Her feelings weren't forever either, they changed and often stood independent from the story. It was a very lighthearted drama that is a good mood changer when you just want something light and not watches dramatic car accidents every other episode.
So far, there have been no spoilers...so you can stop reading now because I am moving on to spoiler territory which is basically my way of coping with the plot.

----SPOILER BELOW----
I actually found out after finishing that most preferred the main ship. I learned at that moment that second lead syndrome will always exist and that the terrible lesson of timing in love is still very relevant/true. I actually really liked Lin Jia Ze and was rooting for him. Maybe it was because I had this gut feeling that it wouldn't be the endgame but my heart was continuously on his side. I have been watching more Korean dramas and in most dramas in general, the second lead is always mean or does some evil thing when trying to win the individual's love. Lin Jia Ze was just too nice. I don't know how else to say it. He didn't give her up, stayed friends with both of them, took chances while still knowing that it wouldn't work, and truly accepted the ending. The Harry Potter Obliviate moments :/ His eyes just become so sad sometimes AHHH. If I was to reason his downfall, it is because he was too cautious and cared too much about his relationship with others. The timing really sucked :( The main lead is great too but lmao it kind of just sucks you know. You can't explain these kinds of things.
Like reply, timing is important and time wasn't on his side. I sometimes get frustrated when I watch because if the character had just done this sooner or known this sooner, things would be different but life isn't like that. Sometimes I forget that I would do the same thing as them and as unfortunate as it is, it happens. I don't blame him for not knowing because Lin Jia Ze thought she liked his friend all that time and he was his best friend so I don't see him doing anything about it. I think the main lead choose correctly and according to her heart. You can't expect every kind person to get the girl, sadly not how love works. They missed each other and it is a shame. Actually kinda reminds me of Boys over Flower. The plot kinda flowed in a similar way.

Well, I am going to end it there. Happy everyone got an ending of sorts and glad I finally ran out of excuses to not watch this. This is to hoping that this did the same for you and got you started.

"We love a good parallel"

Let me start off by saying, I watched it long after the release and so many of the thoughts regarding this show were unknown to me. Before reading the other reviews, I thought it was a great love story between two opposites that find meaning in their work and stand firm in their beliefs. Then I read the reviews and my mind still hasn't changed.
I will admit it isn't the greatest piece of art mankind has ever created and the hype was a bit much, but it definitely deserved to blow up the way it did.

Enlisting in the army is a big deal in Korea so it is a wonder why such a unique storyline was not made earlier. Second, we love a good parallel. The dynamic of the characters were great and really went beyond the romance to showcase the meaning of fighting for your country and the weight of a life. Many of us dream of becoming doctors and as we casually recite the oath, I don't think the weight of those words can be comprehended without the experience the character went through. Aside from the romance, you can take away so much more as the show has so many underlying themes and messages.

It was also just an overall good execution of romance and comedy. The bromance was great. There was no twisting love trapezoid and the story never truly strayed off track. The cheesy English jokes and clever pick up lines may have made others cringe but it brought out the personality and the relationship of the character so much more and made them feel real. People say that without this cast, the show wouldn't have been as successful and frankly, I agree (though not for the same reason). I don't think it was just the pretty face that made the show. The actors were good and executed the characters well. If you watch the bts, you will see that they truly understood what it meant to walk in their character's shoes. I couldn't imagine anyone else playing the respective roles. The acting and medical-related scenes were a little iffy and sometimes just complete nonsense but you can't expect them to be well versed in a field that requires years of study.

The ost was something else. Each track, combined with the perfect scenes, made the story so much more engaging. The emotions really came out. I usually only like one or two but the entire OST for this show rocked. If you heard one of the songs, you would automatically think of the show and that's a good thing.

I know the hype really ruined this show for many but if you just watch it with no real expectation or prerequisite then it is not as bad a watch as others will tell you. I say, give it a go, and if you don't like it then no harm, and if you do then great. As genres exist, not everyone is expected to like it. Try the tea and if you don't like it then try another flavor. If you find tea is just not your thing...then drink something else...?

This is one of those movies where I sat through and time flew by.
The idea of setting roots and having a place to return to was so beautifully executed. This is one of those where I have to tell you to just watch it because anything I write won't do it the justice it deserves. But alas, I must attempt.
Everyone, no matter the age, can relate to times of hardship and stress. This movie and the main character both provide a forest to go to and relax. In the midst of the sea that is complicated drama plots, this movie really provides the breather we need. It really embodies the idea that some of the most beautiful things are simple and how much your life can change after a realization.
This drama offers a lot. Whether your takeaway is that you should grow a garden or to simply cook more, I think it will leave some sort of imprint on your life. I found myself looking at the world a little differently even if just for a while and ever so often, I find myself back for a second and even a third watch. That says something about its rewatch value.
Though I enjoyed the sounds of nature and the vibe the music gave, I didn't remember one track in particular and that is usually how I grade the music section. But trust me when I say that it doesn't take away from the experience AT ALL. I even forgot to take the music into consideration until I had to give a score for music.
I recommend.

Let me start by saying that in spite of all the flaws I see in this show, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
The refreshingly strong male and female lead with the lack of any real competition helped me just enjoy the story. For those that are new to Chinese dramas, this is a good one to watch. There is no miscommunication between the leads, which was quite nice. The connection the game brought to the atmosphere deserves a win from me. The development of the characters is not as apparent and arguably not existent but don't let that take anything away from your experience. For what it was meant to be, a lighthearted love story, it did its job.
The OST was refreshing and a pleasure to the ears. Knowing the cast sings it makes it so much better. Some of the songs are super addictive and sort of stick.
Though you can easily pick apart all its flaws, I choose not to. The simple romance and silly bromance combined with the storyline make this a good watch. The rewatch value is also huge in my opinion. But if you are not into romance (that isn't all it is) then this might not be the one for you, though it doesn't hurt to give it a go anyway. I just really liked how the leads weren't fighting over the smallest things and actually understood/supported each other.
I am but a simple mind and so I don't mind taking the extra time to watch something like this. The cast's chemistry, smile, and overall funny moments were enough for me.

Just watch it!

If you haven't been watching this drama already, it is probably because you haven't witnessed the magic that comes about when Lee Woo Jung and Shin PD work together. This season's last episode came out today and so I thought a review was in order. Don't worry, no spoilers :) (I hope...)

Let's start with the story. There is something so refreshing about this drama compared to all the other ones out right now. At first, I couldn't quite put my finger on it but now I can. Like their other works, this masterpiece is normal? There is no supernatural, no major drama or crazy accidents that usually appear in medical dramas. There was no real enemy. There is no exaggeration. It is simply the story and relationships (romance or not) of five very charming 40-year olds and their playlist through life. The humor did kill my stomach multiple times. There are just so many golden moments that highlight their dynamic.

The cast...the talent and hidden gems in this work cannot be rated. They were perfect. I can't imagine anyone else playing their respected roles. You can tell they prepared hard and well for this. They are all respected in the industry with many works under their belts. I always forget they are actually actors and not actual doctors going about their lives. Also, just to let your mind be blown a little more...their band? They are actually playing :) Such a talented group with this indescribable dynamic.

Next are the amazing Lee Woo Jung and Shin PD. Their works are a constant guessing game. I say that in the best way possible. It is a thrill when watching. They give you the hints and pieces slowly. You really grow to appreciate the genius behind the writing and it always amazes me whenever I see the parallels in scenes or just how they set something up. Their works are always refreshing and great pieces that may not drift you to a fantasy world but make you enjoy your current one. I always end up seeing a version of myself or an awesome group of friends that I would love to hang out with one day. The best part is you can't guess anything until it happens. Replay people understand :)

When we talk about music, it has to start with the band music huh. In almost every episode, we see the band play a song that usually wraps up the episode. The songs are chosen to fit the contents of the episode and are a pleasure to the ears. I get blown away by the cast's dedication and willingness to practice. The better news? I hear they are actually debuting. The OST itself is amazing and filled with such talented voices. I have been listening to it religiously since release. I am currently too while writing this :)

Rewatch value?! I have been rewatching it to gear up for the final episode and even just while waiting for the other episodes to come out. I also see myself coming back to the series so for me it's high. The series hasn't even ended yet and I have already rewatched it several times!

The only downside to this is there are only 12 episodes that means one was released a week. The pain of waiting ;-; But I did it anyway. I do this a lot for anime but almost never for dramas. To give you an idea, the only other one I remember doing this for is Nobody Knows and that had two episodes a week. I didn't really mind waiting though. Don't get me wrong it was painful but the quality of each episode made it worth it so I didn't mind. The good news is this is getting a season 2 soo :) Hopefully, if you guys watch it and give it some love, a season 3!?

I would say, if you are interested, give it a try. If it isn't for you, then move on. BUT if you liked Replay or just want something light to land on after some intensely long drama, this could be the one. I came for the amazing Lee Woo Jung and Shin PD but stayed for everything. This is actually one of my favorite of all time! I think I tend to review popular ones or ones I liked. This is the later. Well, I am going to go refresh Netlfix for the millionth time and hope the episode is out while crying about my empty life after it is over. (update: I finished ;-; )

Also...just wanted to put it out there....Ikjun is my favorite character in the Kdrama universe..I think. 0-0 WOW I didn't even have one before this! Well, why are you still here? Go watch it? Maybe? No pressure.
