They tried to make a new kind of drama, where women have power, where they cand dress how they want, put makeup, accessories and date whoever they want in whatever manner they desire. I really liked that. It had a F*ing strong start.
The first few episodes are my favs and I would rewatch those but not the full drama. Ok so onto what bothers me:
The love story: Starts in a refreshing way for a kdrama, I mean, it s not the usual korean drama couple. But as you go into the story, her not wanting to get married, him wanting to, the endless and pointless drama between them bored me very much. The ending was as boring as their couple story. I must say that his acting and way of being (the resting bitch face and voice and everything) was more suited for Kill It (where I really liked him) or the other drama with the serial killer (come and hug me- I think). Not here.
What kept me going? SCARLETT. GODDAM Scarlett was everything, I swear. She ended up being the only one I cared about, her style, personality, everything.
***IMPORTANT: if this was a drama focused on Cha Hyun(scarlett) I would have given it a 10 (so you can watch it based on this little detail)

This turned out to be a big dissapointment. I have to say that I really love the idea of the Joalert. Before it was aired, when I read the plot I thought that it was indeed a cool idea and that it would be a great drama. I was thinking that the love alert would have many paths to take( you could make a romantic story or go from romantic to something really fucked up). Indeed, they do throw in some protests or mass suicide or a rapist but they were just a few seconds from a long time of basically nohing.I see no sense in Jo Jo s family story and trauma. It s true that I haven t seen until now in a drama a kid that survived that kind of a thing but, again, it had almost no connection with the story. Scenes must mesh together but in Love Alarm they are like different stories put blindly together. The evil cousin and aunt, her difficulties and how the cousin kept saying that she killed her parents were ABSURD.
How Sun Oh stole, really stole his best friend s crush was a really bad move, it s hard to love him after he did that as a character. He s lucky that he is better looking so it makes you forget how childish and unacceptable his actions are. I understand a love triangle but that usually happens after each guy crushes on the girl but kinda not knowing about the other or they are enemies. In the end only they fight over her. Here? As soon as he hears about Hye Young s crush, Sun Oh goes immediately and kisses her because??? On what basis did he fall for her? He didn t for fuck s sake. It s something that leaves you stupid. Like what the hell did just happen?
What s the purpose of the scene where after the accident she couldn t contact him and went to his house and everything? I found it useless. Just time lost that could ve been replaced with some full of sense scenes. And after that the breakup. Why? Why?? Jesus.
I really liked Deok Goo though.
Another thing is the 8 episode release. Again. Why? Can t we have it the old kdrama way with 16/ 20 or whatever? I really hate the Netflix involvement here.
In conclusion this is bad. Really bad. I m not sure if I ll watch the sequel (if there will be one). God, I m so upset over it

A moment of silence for what it could.ve been
I.m just coming out of a kdrama break and I stumbled yesterday upon LA2. Oh my god, I said, finally. Oh my god, I said a day later, this is terrible. If you.re reading this and you.ve watched kdramas for a couple of years now (personally I started 9 years ago) I would like to comment on 2 things that I absolutely hate about what we.ve been offered these years>
-Kdramas have become less focused on actual good plots and that focus has been put on details like fashion, hairstyle, makeup (that are usually way overboard- I mean, I like it, but too much dude)
-Actors are like plastic- they can't act anymore and they look like babydolls. Girls are way too perfect (to the last hair strand) and guys are just as perfect and what is worse is that (at least in my opinion) they are too feminized.
What does this have to do with love alarm?
1. Not one of them is actually playing a role. Everything is resumed to staring into blank spaces looking dramatic af. Let's add some tears in the eyes while looking like we blanked out at math class and this is what this drama is made of.
2. I can't help but compare> do you remember I miss you? Where Kim So Hyun played as the young character played my Yoon Eun Hye. Do you remember HOW INTENSE EVERTHING WAS? Do you remember the first 4 episodes where she appeared most often? Are you telling me that looking sad is all that she can do? GOD! I'm so angry about this. And that was 9 years ago! What happened?
3. The guys- (I mean she is also a part of this but let's look at the guys for now)- they have no personality. They have nothing special about them. The badass what-his-name-was is basically a hot stalker by season 2 and the other one- he's only worth of pity. I don't know why the writers were so cruel to the characters, they are so superficial, there's nothing profound about them (and adding a sprinkle of family drama really does not do the trick).
4. No, really, take a minute to look at their acting- all we get is close-ups of them staring and that's all
5. Must not forget the plot: But is there even one? :)
Don't get me wrong, I love a good old casual kdrama but this is too much. I'd rather watch some Love-evil parents-amnesia-I don't love you-Oh I love you- kinda crap. But in that era, the actors tried to SHOW THOSE GODDAMN EMOTIONS. Chaotic and stupid as they were, they were more complexe.
This aesthetic shit that they are trying to give us is really not appealing. Give me real acting and aesthetics if you want. I'm not accepting less, it's 2021 already.

Do I have Alzheimer's if I don't remember what happened until now?
To answer: No, it's just that nothing happened.I was very excited about this drama and, as I liked Jang Ki Yong, I hoped I won't mind the existence of Song Hye Kyo as a main character, since after watching her act in a drama made me avoid every single one that she ever acted on again. To be honest, I'll have to admit that JKY isn't any better in acting (he acts the same as a cheating boyfriend, son of a murderer, killer etc) but somehow his charisma makes it more bearable.
This being said, you can imagine what happens if you pair them: you try to cover a disappointing storyline with good looks. For some viewers that is enough but I'm sorry that not for me.
For only 2 episodes a week, you'd say you can watch them and not get bored but, after really trying, I couldn't. I stopped mid episode to write this review (I'm curios in a few months, when people will have access to all the episodes, if the percentage of people that dropped it will increase)
Nothing really happens, there is no central conflict (for real, I mean. They tried to come up with one but it is and isn't there), it feels like they're dragging the episodes so they can reach the end. Also, you can figure out the plot by yourself after watching 2 episodes.
One last thing that I want to say is that the "one night stand" kind of a situation is overly used to cover up a bad drama and it's beggining to be a clichee (the new post accident amnesia)
Life is short guys, watch a good drama.

Kokdu: Season of Deity

Read this before you decide not to watch it
I consider myself to have quite a good taste in dramas, as I usually don't waste time with bad stories and acting, except for when I just need to watch something that doesn't require brain work. I decided to write this review just so I can clear up at least *a part* of this drama's name. HEAR ME OUTThe first two episodes are terrible, as is the story and, more or less, so are the other episodes. No, this is not an "award winning" kind of a kdrama, yes, you will question everything about it, yes Im Soo Hyang's acting is as terrible as ever, yes, there are plot-holes. If you are in general not a flexible person, maybe you shouldn't watch it. At the same time, don't rate it with 1 star either if you haven't seen all episodes.
THE HIGHLIGHT of this drama is no one other than Kim Jung Hyun who managed to save this entire series. Please, at least out of curiosity watch a few episodes (more than 2, because, again, the first 2 are really bad) and check out his acting. He had to portray around 4 different roles, 4 clashing personalities and he did it beautifully. In contrast with others, this was my first contact with him as an actor and his great ability made me look him up so that I could eventually watch Mr queen and Waikiki while Kokdu was still airing. In my opinion, if from the beginning your mindset is about having fun, watching something really strange that makes no sense, having curiosity, you might like it, at least 50%. To be true, even I am wondering how I got to finish it, but, as I said, Kokdu's character really saved everything. Never in my life have I seen someone with so many different and entertaining ways of speaking. One more thing I have to say is that, once again, we are surprised by Jung Hyun's singing, as he sings one beautiful song from the OST
On the other hand, even if I've never finished a drama with Im Soo Hyang, I felt that I could stand her character more here. The flashback to her past probably improved her image. I really liked -shockingly- how she portrayed the final moments of her past self.
I also don't get why no one is talking about the reunion of Kokdu, Ok Shin, Gak Shin (who were together in Mr Queen). Their interaction was really funny and pleasant to watch, equally together and apart.
In conclusion, if you have no expectations and you really try to enjoy it, you can, as I believe this was their exact purpose: to create a funny and enjoyable story. I believe that everyone knew what they were doing which is a full on stupid romantic-comedy that was SUPPOSED TO BE STUPID. No one tried to remake Goblin, you can rest assured.

ACTUAL REVIEW starts here:
First of all the leads: She is great, will always be but this role isn t really for her. Not because she can t handle it, because she is too good for it and the role has nothing to offer. The guy? Never heard of him, so I don t really understand why is he the one acting next to Eun Hye. I don.t hate him, I found him quite cute, could have been worse. The other characters are poorly developed as well and are played by unexperienced actors (in my opinion, I might be very wrong on this one). And I don t have a problem with an actor starting out, because they need to get that experience from somewhere but there are too many new actors so the drama looks stupid.
The dialogue is really poorly structured, the story is not well thought through,I didn t even realise there was even music in the backgroud (so that sucks too).
The worst part? It is very boring. I can say I know many other stupid dramas. But none like this one. I can say You re beautiful or Secret garden which are so old and actually a little cringe to watch now are still better. And there s a gap of at least 6 years (i think) between them. Oh, and I am still excited about rewatching those two, no matter how cringey.
So yeah, even though it breaks my heart, don t watch it even if you re dying of boredom..

1. The story. Even though I was excited to hear more about Man Wol s past, I can say it was not constructed really well. I think it needed more details and I find it that I still have some unanswered questions. Also, the daily ghost situation: at first it was ok, they were interesting but It got boring. Watching the same thing over and over again (new ghost, idk Chan Sung is in danger, Man wol saves him etc etc). The love story was slightly covered ( I find that their love didn t really have a point where it started--- which I should like, because technically the love grew bigger and bigger---but I saw no starting point)
What I mean is that I think the drama had no focus: it wasn t really the love story, but it wasn t the ghosts either. Lets say it was her past. Was it really? The past doesn t cover much.
2. The acting was ok. As expected form IU (obviously). The others acted well but there werent that many scenes where they could have shown really cool acting skills either. That s why I gave it a 9. The cast was really well chosen tho.
3. The music was on point. It made sad scenes even more heart breaking.
4. Hmm. Rewatch.. I would rewatch this but only in a few years maybe, after I forget what it is about. To be honest, I m pretty sure I won t. When I rewatch dramas I pick a random episode, because I know that every episode has something good going on. But here, I don t really know, there s a boring vibe it gives me.
*IMPORTANT* even though from this review it sounds like I kinda hated it, it s not true. I enjoyed every episode and when I had to be excited or shocked I was. The review compares it to my expectations of a really really good drama (also I ve just finished another one and it really blew my mind. So i might be comparing to it as well).
For a first watch, it is a cute drama that IS WORTH WATCHING.
