Who, at this point of time, has lost his purpose and feel as good as dead. This encounter sparks in him a living thirst for revenge with the clear goal of avenging the 100.000 civilians of Qinzhou as well as rehabilitating his comrades from the Weibei Army. Mei Lin's relentlessness at kill him amazes him and he starts to admire her. As the two lie on a subliminal crisom herbal bed staring at each other. Prince Jing has made up his mind. He will make of her his pawn. She will follow him on his quest for revenge because they need each other. They are already a pair. Mei Lin : « I live to kill you »MRJH : « You can’t take revenge with just hatred ». We discover that MRJH's lips is still red from the bitting of Mei Lin in the nupcial pool. He is like tattooed by her, sealed. ( this man is mine, no tresspassing allowed ^_< ).Because everyone in Zhaojing was able to see it. It served MRJH’s plan of pretending to be interested in this particular beauty among the 100.When he plays a game, making every one looking at him as a lunatic and a blood thirsty murderer. Only Mei Lin knowns on the spot that the killer from the night before has been spotted and killed by him. Something feels off. It's the first time she as an hint that something is weird. The feeling deepens, as she enters the capital, witnessing the bashing Prince Jing was subjected to. In the middle of a commotion, Mei Lin is stunned by the sound made by a fallen Weibei Army token. Once again, she senses that something is off. Is Murong Jing He the real culprit of Qingzhou mass murder? As they enter the city of Zhaojing, 6 children sing a disrespectful nursery rhymne. Their goal is to diss Prince Jing and resurface the Qingzhou mass murder public outrage. Suddenly, someone throws a rond piece of bread at Prince Jing’s face. He sarcastically starts to have it. At this point of time, Mei Lin already suspects that Prince Jing might have been framed. Once upon a time, in order to save her. Mei Lin herself was throwing a rond peace of bread ( baozi ?) at a little girl trapped in a burnt house. Then she left her, passing on her father's blessing : « Live well. »Now, Mei Lin gets another hint at Prince Jing’s innocence. The fall of the Weibei army’s token undoubtedly sounds different from the one she stole from the arsonist. Did Mei Lin decide to save Prince Jing at this very moment ? She certainly found this token weird. For she feel compelled to bring justice to the innocent. Mei Lin will save Prince Jing, like she saved the little girl.
Mei Lin says to Morung Jing He that the souls of Qingzhou will take him to hell. And Morung Jing responds laughing: "I'm already in hell." He breaks her pride and needs her hatred. She is pierced by the arrow twice but still finds the strength to throw herself on Murong Jing's wheelchair and knock him down. This scene is epic. She shows all her hatred for him. "But he says you won't be able to defeat me with just your hatred." It seems like a premonition of what would happen in the future. (Her revenge throughout the drama will be love. That's what breaks him. Murong Jing considers himself a ghost as he fights ghosts and demons. MRJH pretends to be a heartless and merciless man in front of Mei Lin and the princess. But she realized that the man murdered that day was a professional killer who had been hired to kill him. The episode is a construction and deconstruction of Morung Jing He, because Mei Lin scene by scene discovers all the hidden masks, except one (that of the master of shadows). But the most important ones related to the Qingzhou fire, MRJH's resentment against his own mother. Because his mother also thought he was the culprit. What his mother taught him about mercy and justice, he remembered everything, and spoke indignantly to his mother, a monologue, because his mother had already died. The mistreatment suffered at the hands of his father (on the day he went to his mother's funeral, wearing the red wedding dress, as was his mother's dream. His brother, the crown prince, Murong Xuan Li, a cunning man, works behind his back, presenting himself before their father as an honorable man who is considerate of his brother Murong Jing He. Morung Jing He is humiliated by the crowd and even by children's songs, to which he convinces them to sing another song more "favorable to the ghost trainer who is perfect in everything". But his brother understood him better than others with this line: "MRJH would rather be a ghost than a man". And in the meantime, Mei Lin compares the two war badges in her possession, the one she found in the fire years ago and the current one that fell from MRJH's luggage. She realizes that they are not the same type. She hears Jing He's confession to his now-dead mother, the monologue, as well as the speech of his subordinate telling what happened years ago. In this episode, she discovers MRJH's innocence and knows that he is not her true enemy, but she will still have to comply with the shadow master's order to kill Murong Jing He because she was poisoned and has only 3 days to receive the antidote, otherwise she will die. Another line from this episode: A nearly naked Mei Lin in bed says to Murong Jing He: "I'm not afraid of fire, only of the cold." And he replies: "How interesting, I'm afraid of fire too." And then he says: "Be careful not to get killed. In this episode, MRJH is contradictory, because there is a scene in which he shows that he knows that Mei Lin will end up dying, but he assures her that she will have a dignified funeral and that she will avenge her, the little beggar girl and the people of Qingzhou.

Yes, I feel that, ML and MRJH are on a journey to help each other and save each other. The drama is so beautiful and inspiring.
I think she decided to save MRJH at that very moment.

Mei Lin and Jinghe crawling on broken legs were kindred spirits forged from the same metal. Gen Jing of the Weibei Army started his campaign against the Xiyan in the 14th year of Zhaoming. A year to defeat the Xiyan Army and retake Qingzhou and then 10 years in exile. That should be about year 25, and a year for the events of the drama, Mei Lin dies after the so maybe year 26 or 27. The Emperor abdicated in the 29th year. Emperor Jinghe died in year 10 of the Zhenyuan era. Jinghe outlived Mei Lin by only about 12 or 13 years. Jinghe probably knew at his Mother's funeral that his brother was the agent of framing him for the massacre. Public spectacles and outlandish behavior probably allowed him to live rent free in his brother's mind.
