She respected her dying father's last wish. "She must live".This is role playing time at Jeinbei: MRJH is a lustful playboy and Mei Lin is a lethal "femme fatal".In this white troubled water pool, after Mei Lin, (very seductress) told Prince Jing that she just wanted him.The latter pierced her throat with her own hairpin. The same hairpin she wanted to use to assassinate him. The boy, a villain, um anti-heroi ? The heroine, a revenge killer?

From the opening song and the first scenes with the heroine, we imagine a plot of relentless revenge and a cat-and-mouse war between the heroine, Mei Lin, and the dangerous anti-hero, Morung Jing He. The tragedy that Mei Lin faces brings her a deep hatred for the supposed killer of her family and the people of her hometown. But the first encounter with the anti-hero (and now I realize, it was funny, full of humor and childish jokes about two little animals he loves: a white puppy and a turtle (his true friend who passed away and he was holding a funeral for this friend). He was being carried in a sedan chair by his soldiers (apparently, not only because he was a prince, but because he was unable to walk). But even in this situation, he presents a lazy, arrogant and carefree aura. He says right at the first encounter with Mei Lin (among all the beauties, this one (Mei Lin) is the only one who interests me.
From the first scenes, why didn't I realize it before? (he is a mask of what he is not). A boy hidden behind the mask of a butcher general and a merciless lover (but it is all a mask) and from the first seconds we were shown. Mei Lin is tricked by the master of shadows to kill Morung Jing He. And she tries at the first chance, but falls into his hands, when he, in a medicinal pool, was taking his bath. This was their second encounter in this episode. This encounter has an element of dangerous sensuality, like two angry, lethal chess players facing off, but it ends with him getting up from the bathtub and her realizing he can walk. She is very surprised by this.

Murong Jing is beautiful and complex, indeed. Mei Lin is a sensitive and deep heroine. They complement each other perfectly.
PS:
As for the scene of the drop of blood in the water symbolizing the loss of virginity. You are completely right (in the book Mei Lin had not been raped by anyone because they thought she might have a disease from her hometown, so men were afraid to touch her. And Murong Jing was the only one in her life. So, it makes total sense for the drama to represent it this way (because they are always processing the book), and not disregarding (it is a retelling of the book) as done in the drama.

And thank you for the informations about the book. I did not read it. But I felt that her blood was important. This is why they emphazised her blood so poetically.
This pool scene was very sexy and immensely innocent at the same time. Such a perfect mix^^
