Just for fun and expect to laugh out loud

I rewatched this dram twice and watched selected clips severla times apecially that of Zhao Zhan and Zhao lusi 's. I watched all of Zhao Lusi's dramas so there goes my bias. Lol! I just love it. It is very entertaining and love costume dramas in general. I was really hoping for Zhao lusi and zhan to be the main leads but despite this, i still enjoyed this drama. I love all the Zodiac team's characters and how they behaved. Being Zhao Lusi's first female lead role, she did a great job. More power to her!

I had no high expectations going into this as I'm not convinced by New as an actor and I've never seen anything by Kaimuk before. However I did see the Chinese version before this and while I wasn't a big fan of the acting, I did want to see the Thai version.

STORY

A very simple story of mismatched strangers who are forced to share accommodation and slowly feelings start to develop. This reminded me of the Japanese manga and drama Good Morning Call and Chinese campus love stories like Love O2O.

I enjoyed the story for what it was, a light romance where conflicts are something that the Main Leads overcome without being dragged out for an eternity. This is very different from Thai drama's which can't seem to get their pacing right. This had an emphasis on the ROMANCE component of the story and while this was a nang'ek centric lakorn, the p'ek almost got an equal amount of screentime and development.

What I did like a lot was that they made the nang'ek smart and not ditsy, yes she was a bit naive and inexperienced when it came to her job but that was understandable as it was her first proper job. Chinese campus love stories also have a tendency to make the FL a lot dumber compared to the ML and I'm glad to see the Thai version didn't do this.

ACTING/CAST

This had a very idol drama feel to it and was confirmed when I look into the background of Kaimuk and found out she was part of a idol group. The use of pastels in clothing, the colour saturation and gradient gave the drama a light and bright feel. Totally different from the filming style of Thai drama's and was very noticeable.

While I don't think New is a very good actor, he was perfectly cast to play the initially cold Pupaa who changes and turns into a loving boyfriend. The role itself isn't very challenging so it was just right for his acting level. While I know he has done other drama's before and I recently watched the one he did with Pancake; for me, he still feels like a very new actor who has a lot of room to grow. I would love to see him challenge himself in a slap kiss, as that seems to be the dividing line that determines good actors in Thailand, those who can pull it off and everyone else.

Kaimuk was very good in her role and I had nothing major to pick with her acting. She's one of those that grow on you as time passes, I didn't feel that much chemistry between the two leads though.

The secondary leads were a bit annoying at the beginning but once the Main Leads got together they weren't as bad.

Overall no role was very demanding for the actors but I think a more experienced team could have brought out the more subtle emotions and displayed the micro expressions better. However it was still a competant performance by everyone.

MUSIC

Nothing really stood, not even the opening track. Just very average

REWATCH

I might rewatch a few favourite scenes down the track

The point of this was?

Okay, this little side story wasn't even needed. I figured out why Zheng Teng was so but hurt about Rui helping Chen Yi in the actual show, I didn't need a 20 minute short confirming it for me.

The actor who plays Zheng Teng wasn't very good in my opinion. Even in the series he wasn't very good.

Além de ter feito eu ficar viciada na ost "I can't forget you" do Kim Feel.

A very cute watch.

To be honest when I first watch this drama I was a little bored so I dropped it for a while. A couple months later I came back and tried to rewatch it, and I ended up loving it, though the original cherry magic was definitely better. In my opinion Thailand’s version of it is still very good I really liked the casting of Tay and New And I also loved seeing some new faces. Those some parts are cheesy and hard to watch that just made it all the better. There was one plot at the end that did make me rule down my review just a little bit, The no office romance plot. It didn’t really serve any purpose or really do anything to the story so I found it kind of meaningless but nonetheless it out a little bit of drama into the end if you’re looking for something cute and easy to watch this would definitely be it, but if you’re looking for something with a long plot This probably wouldn’t be it. To be completely honest if Tay and New weren’t in the cast. I probably wouldn’t have went back to rewatch it. but still, I give this drama an 8 (To compare I gave the original cherry magic a 9.5)

Couples who grow together STAY together!!! and end up saving the country along the way

If I could rewind time to rewatch this whole series again, I would do it right now.

I was so excited for DESTINED I even broke out my rusty Mandarin to try reading the webnovel it was based on (Chang Feng Du, or "Long Wind Crossing") before the series even aired. (Turns out my Mandarin was a bit too rusty lol.)

If you're a fan of:
- a heartfelt couple who goes through THICK AND THIN together to solve problems and save civilians
- intricate political schemes featuring a 3-dimensional, cunning villain who's easy on the eyes
- host of side characters that brighten up the screen
- diverse genres from war time, palace intrigue, business start-ups, to even slice-of-life and rom-com
- and main characters that go through amazing growth throughout the series,
Then this drama is right up your alley!!

PROS
❀ This couple is my new gold standard for historical dramas
No misunderstandings, unnecessary break-ups, and over-the-top arguments/bickering. JUST mutual affection and understanding, riding the same frequency, passionate embraces, staunch devotion, and growing with each other. The ML Gu Jiusi is at first a carefree dandy, but you can see that he's still soft-hearted and caring, which sets his character up for huge potential. The FL Liu Yuru is getting ready for an engagement as per the young ladies of the time period, but in the series she blossoms into more than those expectations. I adored how both leads inspired the other to go beyond what society expected of them. For GJS, it was maturing past his playboy tendencies to become an official that brought peace to the people, and for LYR it was seeking a surprise passion: business.
Their interactions were so sweet! I love how LYR turned her accidental marriage into something productive and pushed her husband out of his comfort level. On the other hand, GJS's open mind and natural intelligence also sparked new drive and passion into his wife's heart. Individually, they became dependable and strong. Together, they were a gold star team.
Their romance took up a good portion of the story and hooks you in with satisfying character development from the get-go. After the first 10 episodes or so, underhanded scheming upends their lives as they grow more into their roles to save the family.
OH! I also loved their kiss scenes :)) not to mention the couple looked gorgeous together.

❀ The side characters had significant depth
I love how the show focused on side characters as much as the main leads. Relationships of all types are featured: romance, bromance, sismance, revengemance (lol?), and more. The biggest shout outs I have are:
- Pan Xuan and General Zhou's bromance: one that transcends beyond official positions
- Zhou Ye x Ye Shian x Gu Jiusi's bromance: I literally pump my fist whenever I see them working together in court
- Liu Yuru x Ye Yun x Qin Wan Zhi's sismance: I love how each of them are capable in different ways (businesswoman, physician, and female general!)
- Luo Zi Shang as the villain and his subordinates: this villain!! He's smart and he knows it. Manipulating everyone everywhere he goes. But with his backstory and how the actor portrays him, you CAN'T help but feel as if he deserved more. Obviously too late with his evildoings, but you can't help but think: "what if?" in terms of his upbringing and situation. One of my favorite villains to date.
- Jiang He, GJS's maternal uncle: another intelligent character with hidden depths. I love how he was introduced and integrated into the story, as well as his role in wrapping everything up.
- GJS's mom and LYR's mommance: lol sismance but they're in-laws. Both strong women in their own unique ways.

❀ Everyone was casted really well
I loved Bai Jing Ting in You Are My Hero and Reset, and he was AMAZING in this historical piece. His facial expressions - especially towards the beginning - were hilarious as he acted as a carefree dandy. Later down the episodes, even though his character matures and starts to command attention both in the palace and on the battlefield, he still retains some of that playfulness. Song Yi's character also grows from a demure lady to a smart businesswoman (after trials and tribulations), and she executes that transformation really well. At first her dub was a bit sweet/sing-songy to me, but I got used to it as it matched her character. Liu Xue Yi as the villain was stellar as well - even though he was super evil I felt for him. I really did. And not just because of his sad backstory and good-looking face, lol.

❀ Really enjoyed the plot execution
Although I know there was deviation from the book, I love how the storyline pans out. I thought everything was revealed naturally and methodically, and the storyline was tight from beginning to end (meaning - no unnecessary fillers). You looking for a Chinese drama with minimal plot holes? You came to the right place. The writers did a great job tying up loose ends, in my opinion. You get to see the outcome of all the major characters and the final conclusion - which did have tragic moments as per unspoken historical Cdrama rule - was ultimately fulfilling. I literally felt like I had withdrawals after I finished the last episode.
As for the plot, we get to enjoy a host of genres: first we see a rom-com background where two seemingly different people end up together. Then, tragedy strikes and they walk through fire together to save their family and rebuild from scratch, lending a slice-of-life feel. LYR is building her business while GJS enters the government as a lowly yamen runner. As he works his way up (literally climbs the official ladder through numerous achievements and plans), we get introduced to war and much more action. Finally, the main leads make it to the capital and the show continues in a palace setting as everything leading up to this moment gets revealed.

❀ Subtle message of female empowerment
I feel like many Cdramas try to push feminist ideals in your face and end up getting a bad rep. DESTINED doesn't have that focus; rather, the feminist ideals are naturally integrated in the story and characters. GJS - literally greenest flag to have ever flown - is open-minded and not afraid to call people out.
- Why would you have filial piety if your father doesn't deserve it? -> A statement he makes that LYR is shocked about, but ends up applying to her own situation.
- Who says that women can't do what men do? -> GJS's message that inspires LYR to find her own passion rather than living for the sake of her husband.
- Women from all sorts of life: from LYR's birth mom to her friend that takes a stand in her hostage situation to the antagonist team's brothel owner who also takes control of her own life, each woman is depicted with quiet strength and resilience.
In terms of female empowerment, this drama does an amazing job in "showing" those ideals rather than just "telling" the audience.

CONS
✕ I can't really think of anything huge under the haze of my overall love for this drama, but some weaker plot points include:
- 2ML/villain's obsession with the FL: I know Asian dramas tend to oversell childhood friends but even the flashbacks weren't strong enough to supplement his attachment to her
- how our main couple never caught a break after they established themselves: it was literally one conflict after another lol. I didn't mind it but I can see why folks get tired after ep 30ish since the series starts dialing up the palace drama and politics.

OVERALL
DESTINED balances multiple genres really well, but at its heart is a young couple who goes through obstacles and end up growing as individuals while saving people. Along the way, they gather a colorful crew of loyal friends who become the pillars of the nation. While the FL and her business does take a step back in the latter quarter to make room for the ML's kingmaker moves in the palace, she still supports and supplements him. At the end of the day, they were certainly destined for each other.

Brb, about to rewatch it now ;)

Agente do caos

Estou desmerecendo as fãs internacionais? Jamais!

I blame the director

I would like to start by saying that I blame the director. All my major problems with this series basically boil down to the director not directing properly.

Premis is a forbidden romance I can get behind.
Bodyguard falling in love with the boss's son.
Love & duty on the line.??

For the most part even though the mc starts off as a little spoiled brat, he does get better as it goes on.

The bodyguard is just kinda sad with his kind of adoptive father taking advantage of him the way he does. He is generally good if a little stoic most of the time.

I liked the 2nd couple, they were funny & cute and really deserved a more well developed story than what they got.

The mob bosses and their henchmen were okay. I laughed at them more than I probably should have but they weren't terrible..

The acting overall was okay until the more emotional scenes which is when the director needed to direct the actor better because his acting went from decent to...
The emotional scenes just fell flat coz I couldn't get past his acting which again someone should've flagged & helped.

It was rehearsed, shot multiple times, edited and reviewed and NO ONE thought that maybe they should re-shoot those scenes after giving some helpful feedback to the actor? No one?

In conclusion: Direct damn it. He wasn't a bad actor, he just needed better direction!

What a talented cast! I came here for Yang Zi but from episode 1 have been captivated by the actors.

What a talented cast! I came here for Yang Zi but from episode 1 have been captivated by the actors from the little ones to the grown ups. The child actors did just a great job portraying little Xiao Yao and Cang Xuan.

Was waiting for season 2 to drop so that I could watch it all together. It finally has, I watched the newly released episodes of Season 2 before coming here and it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I still liked the characters but I didn't know who they really were and why they were doing things they were. So, coming to this season, I can say that Yang Zi has grown so much as an actor. From portraying the Jin Mi in Ashes of love to Xiao Liu in Lost You Forever she has mastered the art of acting like a man. Her mannerisms are so on point. It puts other actors pretending to be men at shame. Kudos to her!

My two cents on the characters so far:
------------------------------------------------
Xiao Yao / Wen Xiao Liu / Haoling Jiu Yao / Xiling Jiu Yao: The woman has abandonment issues that are well warranted. Despite all that it is clear that she has liked Shi Qi from the get go. He has always treated her well. I was a bit mad at him for not showing up with Xuan and Nian came to collect the antidote, but since then he has proven himself. He is like a healing balm that Xiao Yao needs.

Xiyan Cang Xuan / Mr. Xuan: I guess we are supposed to forget that he had Xiao Liu tortured for hurting A Nian or that he had her leg broken. Xiao Yao doesn't seem to care about these things and has faith in her brother, so who are we to hold grudges? Although I liked the little boy and girl who promised to be each other's confidantes, the grown up Xuan failed her. But since he has found out that she is Xiao Yao he has treated her great so no more complains about him.

Tushan Jing / Ye Shi Qi: I liked his gentleness and care for Xiao Yao. The only thing that he has against him is that he is sometimes seems too passive. You can't help but love him, what a kind and gentle soul. He seems like someone who'll take care of Xiao Yao. I can't believe people hate his character. Why? Because he is too nice? Aren't you just like his brother Hou then. But I do agree that is a little too slow in taking action, I mean so many of the things could have been avoided had he taken care of his brother and fiancé's affair long time ago. I mean it is not like he doesn't have a brain, he helped Xuan so much in background.

Xiang Liu / Fangfeng Bei: We all have a thing for bad boys and the character shouts bad boy in spades. However, every time Xiang Liu met Xiao Liu, Xiao Liu ended up with physical injuries. And no, it is not just the fang marks, but the forty whips and the broken leg. I mean do you want to be kicked by your partner and it is not some kind of roleplay where he'll be gentle but with actual malice? I wanted to ship these two because they look great together but I don't want Xiao Yao to suffer more. He reminds me a lot of the Novoland Sky Castle character, Feng Tian Yi.

Haoling Yi / A Nian: What a cringeworthy character. I wouldn't mind if they stopped adding such childish characters to great productions like this. Spoiled, not held accountable so keeps on bullying other people. Where's the humility? Her character improved a bit as she grew to care for Xiao Yao, but she is just a brat that you can't tolerate.

About who Xiao Yao should end up with?
---------------------------------------------------
=> Tushan Jing. I see his faults, he just lets people bulldoze over him. But Xiao Yao is no angel. Following the story, the guy basically was drugged and abused. He did not have anyone to comfort him because he wouldn't speak to anyone about it. What's worse, had Xiao Yao been fully invested in the relationship she wouldn't have taken the easy way out. She should have cared that he was violated and now with the child has no option but to marry the woman who did that to him. I believe had she chosen to stick by his side, they could have figured things out.
=> I wouldn't have minded Xiao Yao ending up with Xiang Liu / Fangfeng Bei because he did give up one of his lives to save her, which was actually quite selfless. It wasn't even the only time he did something like this, he even took on the poisonous bug knowing what it meant. But what do you want Xiao Yao to do, even had there not been Tushan Jing, do you want her to throw herself at Xiang Liu at every turn, knowing full well that he is only going to reject her in brutal ways? What's more, his rejection would never be just verbal one, but also physically abusive one. Had he wanted he could have tried to be with her, but he did not really want that. He never dreamed of it because of who he was.

So beautiful drama .It having so many love stories ,so beautiful pairing as well as so emotional ,touchy and romantic scene .I like the the ghost king more than the first male lead as I watched his "never let you go " drama and I like his acting and the charisma on his face so I wish his love story with the lead actress which eventually is there in starting part of drama and I wished in which he should be pairing with lead actress but his character turned to be a "womanizer" but when he realized his true feelings it become too late for him ..His character did so many bad deeds in starting but at the end he turned to be good person but all his past deeds had to pay and his end had bad ending...Then I like the small love story between the lead characters in mortal life reign then big love story in their immortal life both story has so much emotions and lovely romantic scenes that didn't make the drama boring. Then again there is another love story which has emotion ,love but had sad ending they never came together ,I wait till the last episode to see their (dong hua and fue ji)ending but it come out to be sad ending ...There one small love story where both of them don't able to propose each other because they belongs to different reign but stare towards each other and shows their love so there is again a bad ending .Other supporting characters are so very cool like fourth brother of Qing Qing ,her mentor's brother zhi yan ,then that kid he is so cute and his dialogue delivery so adorable. As a whole I love watching this drama. Too good and too best but two flaws I want to see lead character marriage and Dong Hua's love story should have happy ending.

I loved The Show so far but I couldn't see the full episodes because of no English subtitles.
Its a lovely story from my view. I wish I could see more of it. I only got first six episodes with english subtitle in YouTube.
So I would request the publisher please add English subtitles for International viewers. thanks

If you are William Chan's fan go for it! If not, think twice before starting watching this drama...
Starts interesting but very fast turn into some old/rusty romance (or lack of romance) with 30% of boring flashbacks in almost every episode ... Forwarding - forwarding - forwarding ... So many interesting possibilities to explore even with the main subject being love (or lack of competence to find love), the plot and some of events just jumped to new scenes without conclusion and you end up having to guess what might have happened. Why William Chan accepted this role it's beyond me since it wasn't a challenge as he is much the same in other dramas! Of course the main characters romance was cute on some parts and it shows William with the good guy posture (around the 30st episode forward). Anyways, it was a stone road but to make things easier for you, just watch it from 1 to 15 jumps to 32 and it will be easier to finish it with a smile in your face. :-) !

Definitly worth watching

This is your typical thai bl (school, haters to lovers concept) there is a bit of a diference tho since Lee and Park are already together at the begining of the series (secretly together for 7 years), there is cute scenes jealous scenes and drama of course (cause you know whats a thai bl without those things) but its also a very comedic bl.

Mek and Kim: i loved their story (haters to lovers) Mek and Kim meets because of a prank that Mek, Bear and Lee (they have a pranking youtube channel) did that ends up with Kim, Bomb and Park somehow being involved in it so the principle punishes Mek and Kim to act as a bl couple since that would drew attention to school and its activities, they of course at first dont like eachother but the more time they spent together the more they fell for eachother.

Bear and Bomb: their story started a little different since Bomb already had a Crush on Bear since he has been a fan of Thunderous sky channel for a while (though he is anonymous on the channel) he is the only fan that comments about Bear on every video so as a result of that Bear sets out on a mission to find out who he is, once he does find out that the fan is Bomb he falls for him (i honestly think he fell for him a while ago since Bomb was helping bim find the fan he was looking for (Bomb didnt know he was the fan Bear was looking for just like Bear didnt know Bomb was that fan) their love story is just adorable

Lee and Park: their relationship has already started in the first episode (they have been secretly dating for 7 years) there isnt much i can say about their story but i definitly also enjoyed it

Tim and Mai: Mai is Tims bestfriend who has had a crush on him for a while though Tim seems oblivious to his feelings to be honest i think Tim had cought feelings for Mai a long time ago but just didnt realize it until he almost lost Mai to another person, their story will definitly have you feeling bad for Mai since it seems like Tim doesn care about Mai and his feelings at the begining.

This has to be without doubt my favourite one of the series.

I actually saw Jinny's Kitchen first because of Wooga Squad and only later watched all the previous versions now that Season 2 of Jinny's is airing. And I have to say after seeing them all (barring Youn's Kitchen 1), this has stood out the most for me. I absolutely loved the subtler product placement than the other seasons and the genuine relationships they formed in the neighbourhood in this season. We saw some great bonds on all the other seasons too, but they were quite commercialised in a way. Here, you saw genuine friendships between the team and locals, the actual work that goes behind running a restaurant and also how they rallied together to make it a success. Also, this has by far been the only one where I saw someone actually react to the food negatively, which made it much more realistic. They are not professionals and are cooking for people with a different taste palette, of course, they will make mistakes. Love how they recover from that first disaster!

I also quite enjoyed the behind-the-scenes and the amazing chemistry between the team. It has been interesting to get an insight into their day other than the restaurant like the washing fairy Yu Mi and running Seo Jun. Also, the beautiful scenery of Tenerife adds to the charm of this variety show.

My favourite episode was the one with the people from the Square Restaurant. Loved the friendship between these two teams!

A must-watch for anyone who likes watching variety shows!
