Adorable Watch
I was anticipating the release of this movie because I’m a huge fan of the manga. Lovesick Ellie tells a hilariously adorable story of high school love and self-discovery. Going into the movie, I knew that many parts of the manga would be cut or changed since it would be impossible to fit it all into a movie adaption. However, I was so happy seeing some of my favorite scenes portrayed in the live-action. There were several changes made in the movie that I felt were unnecessary or kinda felt unnatural to the characters in the manga, so just a warning if you’re watching it expecting it to be a direct adaption of the manga it isn’t quite that. I still really enjoyed the storyline of the movie, and I think the pacing of it was good as it stayed mostly loyal to the manga. My favorite part of the movie was definitely the casting. I think they really nailed the casting for Ellie and Oumi. Both actors did such a good job in the acting, and I think they were really cute together! I saw some people complaining about the overacting from Ellie, but dramatic and embarrassing reactions is literally Ellie to her core. I wish we got to see more of the side characters, but they did a good job in their limited time. Overall, this was a fun and entertaining watch. It wasn’t as funny as the manga, but if you’re looking for something cute and entertaining I would highly recommend!

the cutest thing
i think this is my new favorite c-drama! i’m getting that empty feeling you get when you finish a show (lol). so this drama is your classic story of first love. although at times the story gets a little embarrassing or strange, i believe it was entertaining throughout.despite the romance being very youthful, i think it was refreshing to see high school/college characters being played by actual teenagers and not 30 year olds! i liked both the male and female lead (i must admit the acting was little stiff from the male lead but i think it was his first drama). what i especially liked from the male lead was his character wasn’t a total a**hole like most male leads
are. thankfully it didn’t fall into the cliche where the female lead is hopelessly chasing after the cold-hearted male lead while a way more competent second male lead watches (i’m so tired of this typical school drama trope). the female lead has some great growth from being super timid to confident (without relying on her bf or friends!)
i think it was clear that the male and female lead liked each other equally (aww). although their love story is slow (i personally love a good slow burn), i think the scenes when they started dating were so cute. it makes you want to replay them over and over again! i’m not a fan of the slow-no tho. the side characters all had interesting stories, but i was not a fan of the constant fat-shaming of one of the friends. in addition, the way they made the female lead change her appearance so much (even portraying darker skin as ugly) was not fun to watch. i understand the beauty standards are different, but this took away some of the enjoyment of watching the show.
