Such a cheesy disaster that it's endearing
In totality, it was okay. Definitely loved Duean and Meen more than anything else. It was cheesy full of stupid plot devices that you learn to deal with it1. Mork was a stalker. A glamorized one, but a stalker nonetheless
2. The whole Bam plot twist is such a classic GMMTV thing to do. A FEMALE has to come out from NOWHERE to produce conflict. Of freaking course
3. Instead of the ep 11 curse, GMMTV decided to be edgy and made the conflict in ep 12. It made everything feel rushed when literally they had 11 episodes of nothingness
4. I hate how manipulative Mork was to Pi in terms of forcing Pi to come out with their relationship.
All of these things are so cliche and are so bad, but I guess I'm so used to dramaland that at this point, the predictability is what sold it for me.
Also, Pond is so freaking gorgeous.

Frustrating watch
Let me preface this by saying that I never watched this before, and I'm coming in as someone who has high expectations due to people calling it a classic. To contextualize, I watched this on June 2021, which is 10+ years after this was released. This is important because I feel like the story only worked for that certain time period, but now in 2021, it's kind of - quite frankly - bad. Maybe it was called a classic by people who grew up from that time, but aside from the 'nostalgia' factor I got from this, there wasn't a lot that would make me want to watch this again.
The female lead is an annoying liar. The male lead is frustratingly stubborn. The second male lead is pathetic. The doctor portrayed as a martyr was good, but she went along with the lies which cancelled everything out. The President mother and her relationship with the grandson was the highlight for me.
Their love story was shallow as well. You fall in love with someone because of their innocence and piano skills? Give me a break. And for him to feel that deeply that fast? Without any challenges to build that unconditional and sacrificial love? For him to throw everything? The only challenge they had was the who court thing where she was harassed by her uncle-in-law, but it all felt like a high school skit to me. College students defending someone in front of a school board? In what world? They needed lawyers, and they needed police. The uncle couldnt have escaped (his story wasnt resolved as well!!!) it they were in a courtroom. It was for publicity, but wouldnt an actual criminal litigation give them more PR? I'm sorry but it was too ridiculous for me and I hated being treated like I'm stupid.
There are a lot of things I dont like about this drama, and I feel like people dont have the guts to call this bad because of it being a cult classic with huge following. Probably the whole nostalgia thing is what made this popular, but then again, I watched this in 2021 so I dont have to abide by their standards
Wouldn't watch it again. It took me a week to finish when I finished dramas of similar length (that I liked) in 2 days.

Started strong, fell flat on its face
Ahh how the mighty have fallen. This show had so much potential, but it dragged way too much. Plus, the product placements became way too unbearable. I wanted hotpot almost every episode, damn it.The acting was good. Of course it is. Johnny was spectacular as usual.
I wanted to smack Dilraba's mom here. So freaking hard. Oh my god. Tell me i'm not the only one.
Music was average to below average. Nothing outstanding. Videography was okay except some weird angles. I never forgave that one shot where Johnny's jaw literally disappeared and his face went straight down his neck. An ugly shot, I tell you.
Not rewatching. Don't recommend

Absolutely important. Very heartfelt
A genuine queer story that represents some of the real struggles real couples have. This was also a coming of age for Cai as he actualized himself with the help of Gav.The friendship between the three of them was so precious. It's so so heart warming to see a powerful bisexual woman play a supportive role and not a toxic girlfriend who slaps the main guy for being gay.
This series broke so many toxic tropes and proved that gay stories are just love stories similar to the straight ones. There's no need to fetishize their relationships, unlike what's being done in other BLs (A LOT OF BLs), where the story was clearly made to pander to straight women's fantasies of seeing straight men kiss each other.
Would have loved more skinship, but this was done at the height of a pandemic and they were treading uncharted waters. It paved the way for other PH BLs because now they know what to do and what precautions to take. The actors pride themselves for that because there's no manual on how to produce a series like they did i.e. just talk to cameras without feeding from the energy of your costar. They were pioneers, and we love that for them.
10/10 would recommend. This is my first review, and this series set the bar so high. I loved it so much
