Shut Up: Flower Boy Band

'Shut Up' is not about music or a band, though. The friendship, rather brotherhood, between the main characters is the driving force and is what makes this drama so enjoyable. Bromance between hot guys is fun to watch no matter what, sure, but the writing and overall development of the story made everything even stronger.
About L: I'll admit, I had issues with watching this at first because sticking idols into dramas never really turns out well. He is a really fantastic actor though. At the risk of giving too much away, I'll just say that even though I'm not a fan of his, I was very pleasantly surprised by this performance. He has real talent.
The music is so good. Crappy music can really break a decent drama, but 'Shut Up's music really made everything better.
Everyone says this is an emotional, heart-wrenching show, but it's also one of the only dramas to make me actually laugh out loud at my screen. Everything was crafted so nicely from beginning to end.
If anyone else is on the fence about giving this a shot, just go for it. (Rewatch is a 9 only because I rarely rewatch dramas). I watched this in 2 days because I literally could not pull myself away. Give it a shot!

I'll get some thing out of the way first: Wilber and Dean are terrible actors. Rainie's voice was cute but irritating. OH THE CLICHES!
BUT
the humor was there and was strong enough to bring me back another time. There was chemistry between the two leads. They were cheesy, albeit fun. I did say the guys were bad at acting, but all you have to do is suspend disbelief (that people could act so fake) and find the heart that's there.
I guess most people just don't see the cuteness and purity of this drama. If I were to rewatch any drama with horrible acting, cliches, and over the top fluffiness, I'd pick this one.

Being just a little kid in 1997, it shouldn't have easy for me to relate to the setting. Considering the enormous fanbase Reply 1997 accumulated, both young and old, I have to say there's something right going on behind the scenes.
The dialogue was snappy and perfect. Every little word, cultural reference, and even the sheep sound effects chimed so nicely in with what shows today are missing. The raw, uncensored teenage energy without the fluff leaves us more relatable humor.
Every actor was perfect. You'd think with so many idols and newbie actors, it'd be a mess. ENTIRELY not the case. These people took the amazing script and turned it up 10 more notches. It's no wonder that each of their popularities skyrocketed because of this show. I am very much looking forward to what the actors of our six misfits get up to in the future.
Speaking of the future, it seems Reply 1997 has a sequel in the making. That's something to look forward to as well :)
Overall: I've always loved teen dramas, but I'd been slipping away because they all seem to be cut from the same cookie cutter recently. I love that Reply 1997 does use excessive cliches, but mixed in with such lovable characters, you actually appreciate rather than scorn them. I'm so sad that it ended, but this was definitely the most FULFILLING ending of any drama in recent years. Every plotline gets a heartwarming conclusion.
Anyone, kdrama fan or not, should watch this show
