Hi! Began the drama journey back in 2006/07 where I found dubbed Korean dramas on TV and I have never stopped watching since then (but not without a few slumps and 2 years of abstinence). From dramas I naturally transitioned to also watching movies, which I have realized I appreciate and prefer more to dramas, movies are shorter, no meaningless shots are usually taken and have a much more artistic approach about them in comparison to dramas (you can see from my list I give way more 10s to movies than dramas). Watching dramas and movies has furthered my love and appreciation for Asian culture.
Recently I have been travelling a rocky road with dramas, and in the limbo state of just watching absolutely anything. Meanwhile, discovering many drama gems like River’s Edge Okawabata Tanteisha, Shinya Shokudo, Atami no Sousakan , Mahoro Ekimae Bangaichi (and basically beginning a Joe Odagiri obsession). At the moment trying to find dramas that are slice of life with a comedic edge (preferably quirky), and dramas with food and its relationship to people.
Update! I have weaned myself off of Korean/Japanese dramas as of late, quirky slice of life is difficult to find :( I have begun a downward spiral into Thai BL series and consequently any other subsequent BL related series. Reflecting on this shift, most BL series are not that great (either the production/story/acting is poor), this is reflected in my rather low ratings for a majority of the series I've watched, I don't know why I continue to watch them and I guess it has become a sort of guilty pleasure. All is not lost and there have been some great gems, the faves are: Word of Honor, The Untamed, Cherry Magic, Until We Meet Again, Bad Buddy and Tharntype (Mew Suppasit has taken over my life at this point. Shhh!)
