Mixed Feelings About This One
I'm a little disappointed in this series. The series started off to an amazing start but as one of the other reviews that I saw said midway through it started to feel like more of an obligation to finish. So I'll break down my review into 3 different parts: plot, acting/characters and overall.Plot: The plot I think was a generally an okay story, but I think it was poorly executed. Midway though the series the plot started to get lost. The main story was annoying and, dare I say, boring at times. Also the side stories were just all over the place. From Ae giving birth on public transit to Jaab and Jane's whole debacle, I think the side stories were not planned out very well which ended up talking away from the development of the main storyline. I did the the main storyline of the series which was the employee falling in love with their boss trope, but again I just think it was poorly executed. A couple things I didn't understand concerning the plot was why Pat didn't think he was good enough for Jeng even after Jeng confessed his feelings, why Pat tried to start dating Put again after how Put treated him and knowing that he liked Jeng, and the last thing I didn't understand is why all of Pat's friends were happy that he started dating Put again when they know how Put treated him before.
Acting/Characters: Overall the acting was decent at best. Some of the actors were good and some were not. I absolutely disliked Ben's character (Pat) from the way he acted (like a baby even though he's a full grown adult) to the terrible facial expressions he made in every scene. Also idk if it was just me but I did not feel the chemistry between Pat and Jeng (or Put). I hated how Jeng and Jaab were both kind of push overs when it came to the person they liked. Jane was also annoying in the sense of like why did you borderline cheat on your boyfriend and push Jaab away but then get mad/upset when he had finally given up on you. I thought Khanun was annoyingly dumb, idk I just wasn't feeling that character. Chot was the only decent character in my opinion; everybody else was lowkey mid.
Overall: This wasn't the worst Thai BL I've seen but it definitely could have been a lot better. It had a lot of potential but unfortunately failed to deliver.

Every Character Needs Therapy ASAP !!
Okay , the Tap and Ping situation is so lame and I’m getting hella tired of the lack of communication from Fahlan and Sher like wtf. I get why Fah is mad at Sher and Prince bc it’s like he told them the excessive touching and pda makes him uncomfortable and they continuously make it a point to do it directly in his presence. Also Sher not making it clear what their relationship is annoying af and I understand why Fah is frustrated but at the same time he needs to stand tf up bc how many times does somebody need to tell you AND show you that they’re not serious about you.Overall after giving it some thought this show is BAD. Firstly the portrayal of a toxic and abuse relationship that’s seemingly normalized in this series and secondly the lack of communication in all three relationships but especially in FahSher and PingTap is damn near unbearable. And I mean I kinda get what the creators were going for with this storyline (that all relationships aren’t perfect or whatever trying to show more substance) but god damn they took it to an extreme bc why am I watching Sher beat on Fah every episode .. and Fah doing nothing about it but crying (also having no support) and his friends/ other schoolmates even encouraging him to make up with Sher ?!?!! Sher needs his ass beat , Fahlan needs some self respect and a backbone and EVERYBODY in this show needs to go to therapy expeditiously .. ughhhh

A Somber Watch
No one could've prepared me for what I witnessed in these 3 episodes! If you're like me and are, for some reason, drawn to melancholic, somber dramas then "The Effect" is a must watch!
On the other hand, if you're not a fan of these types of dramas then I think you should pass on this one. I will say this drama definitely does need a trigger warning on it because they do touch some touchy subjects in these 3 episodes, the main two being SA and harassment.
Plot: Some vibes you can expect to see in this series is true friendship, gossip/bullying, blackmail, depression, etc. Overall, I think what makes this series different from other Thai BL's is that 100% of the conflicts that happen in this series could happen in real life and that you actually do hear stories like this happening in real life. So, I definitely think this drama will hit home for a lot of watchers, whether they've been through a similar situation, know someone who has or even simply saw/heard of an incident similar to the one portrayed in the drama.
Acting: Overall, I think all the actors did a great job in executing their roles. So I don't have much to say on that.
Also I want to say that although 95% of this drama is a kind of depressing to watch the ending actually isn't super sad and the show actually ends on an okay note (imo lol)

Lost Then Regained Interest Towards the End
Ok I have a lot to say lmao. Firstly, I want to say compared to some of the other recently released Thai BL's, I think this one is one of the better ones I've seen. With that being said, this series was a good at first but I then slowly started to lose interested towards the middle and then regained interest towards the end of the series. Let me explain.Ok, so I think the plot was very original. I don't think I've seen another BL series with a similar plot. But I think about 4-6 episodes in I noticed the main characters are literally self-sabotaging to the point where it's kind of ridiculous. For example, with Lomfon and Saengtien, Lomfon continuously goes after Saengtai when quite literally everybody else in the series is telling him not to. Also, I think Saengtai also self-sabotaged because there's no way he couldn't tell Lomfon liked him. Even when Beau told him that Lomfon liked him he completely disregarded her observation. I think Phat self-sabotaged in the end because instead of listening to Dream he ran away from his problems.
Also, the lack of communication in this series is actually wild. None of the main couples in this series know how to actually communicate, from Phat and Saengtai, Lomfon and Saengthian, to the parents.
Overall, though I did find the lack of communication and the constant self-sabotaging slightly annoying, this series actually wasn't that bad and there were a lot more good scenes than bad ones.
