Okay so first of all, I've seen many comments on people who dislike the film due to the fact that Dew gets reincarnated as a female. In my personal opinion, I saw nothing wrong with that. Here's why:
The movie focuses on the deep love and affection between our two main leads Pob, whom I would call the main main character, and Dew/Lew, who are the same person but Lew being the reincarnation. I can see why many take this love story as specifically homosexual love, the first half of the film and the main beginning of the romance happens with two male characters, which gives the viewer an impression that "oH, this must mean they're gay", which is not wrong, since both Pob and Dew confirm that they are. See, the reason why the chosen couple in the beginning of this storyline are homosexual is due to the time it is set in. Here being gay is looked down upon and more or less a taboo topic. Here is why the second half of the film (the present part) does not include the same trope, it's present day and taboos change. Being homosexual, especially in Thailand, is not necessarily a taboo thing anymore, times have changed. This is why the reincarnation of Dew, Lew, is a younger female. It's the new taboo, the age-gap, which has become more looked down upon compared to homosexuality.
This shows that no matter how much society does not accept their love, these two will still be feeling the same things. Whether they're gay or there's a huge age difference.
- sorry if the explanation was messy, I had a hard time formulating my theory, but I hope it somewhat made sense -
Story-wise, I give this a 7 due to the fact that it can be misunderstood easily and there's a few plot holes here and there. It tried to cramp two story arcs in around 2 hours, which rushed it a bit. I would honestly prefer this to be a mini series, where one could come more in depth into the story. The ending made sense to me. It creates a loop, and opens up for further theories. It is not their end, but solely their continuation.
The cast did a great job. Ohm's crying scenes started of a tiny bit weak imo, but after he finally let the tears fall, I could feel the emotions. The chemistry was nice as well.
I really enjoyed the music too, nothing necessarily memorable, but it played a good counterpart with the visuals of the film.
I wouldn't rewatch this film, as I don't think the same spark will be present. You could watch each arc as their own short film for some nice chemistry, but overall I don't find this movie having any rewatch value.
It was a nice film and had great aspects of acting, visuals, and music. The story was decent as well, but not my favorite. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the film.
