Nostalgic 90's tale
What a masterpiece. I love dramas when they nail the timeline they're set in specially 90's. Our times is like rewatching the era of tech boom and transformations economically and culturally from Chinese Perspective. With seriously strong Nationalism, capitalism & entrepreneurial journey plot of two poles apart friends -This is a riveting tale of selflessness and being selfish. Such a contrasting main characters with balanced screen time & absolutely brilliant portrayal of an extrovert & introvert friends cruising through life, career & romance in one of the most transformational era.
Really love the art direction, absolutely bang on music & opening & closing credits of episodes. Filler videos of 90's Chinese cities is fascinating part. Wu Lei as Xioa Chaung is adorably sad. Everyone fits the character like a glove. It's like a novel in motion.
My only complaint is 36 episodes are not enough. The story remains to be concluded & definitely needs a S2 (which apparently is shot but not released)
More & more ppl need to watch it. That DRESS SCENE ?, When Wu Lei gets a haircut ? ? ? ? The changes from pay phones to pagers ?
