Absolutely Flawless
The title of this review says it all really: this show was flawless.Impeccable acting, beautiful cinematography, realistic but enjoyable storyline, atmospheric music, the perfect blend of serious/humour/emotions, GAH IT WAS SO GOOD.
Honestly the type of show that you fishing and wish you could forget so that you can immediately watch it for the first time again. It was such a wonderful experience.
I laughed, I cried, I screamed in joyful delight, I clutched my chest at the teenage angst and pain and beautiful raw emotion. And honestly they could release that plushie as merch.
The most important thing I can say in this review is: please go and watch this show if you haven’t already. It’s the kind of show that changes the whole trajectory of J-BL, for me this sits on the throne with Queen Cherry Magic.

ADORABLE
This was absolutely ADORABLE!!!The story is pretty basic - cute, innocent unpopular boy develops a crush on the cool, cold popular boy without realising that the popular boy is also crushing on him. What follows is eight short episodes that follows the pair discovering more about each other and navigating their new relationship. There’s a lot of secret glances and affectionate smiles - and so much healthy communication!!!
Takara is the greenest flag ever, he is absolutely adorable underneath that cool facade, and he was hopelessly smitten with Amagi, it was SO CUTE.
This whole series just had me kicking my feet and screaming into my pillow, it was too adorable for words.
Also if Amagi’s best friend wants to just step out of this show and marry me, I am absolutely on board with that. He was the MVP of this show, what a national treasure.
Definitely a show I’ll rewatch often.

Interesting idea but a little slow
This wasn’t a terrible show by any means, but it just felt like it dragged on and it was missing a spark of excitement. The storyline itself was quite enjoyable and the mystery was a good blend of suspense and letting us see the side character’s stories, but it did feel like there was a lot of filler at times and it probably could’ve been condensed down a few episodes.
The main couple were nice enough and they had some cute fun moments, but there was a bit of a lack of chemistry and the few kisses were awkward and bland (one was fully eyes open and it’s such a pet peeve of mine!!).
My favourite part of the whole show was the House Guardian - he was absolutely wonderful and easily the best and most interesting character, he won the show at least an extra star in my rating.
Probably not one I’d rewatch but if you’re looking for something low angst, low drama and easy to watch then this fits the bill.

Cute and enjoyable
Ryuji carried this series from average to very good for me. Don’t get me wrong I did like Amane and I found his tendency to mask vulnerability over being gay with humour very realistic for a young kid who’s been hurt by someone he trusts, but I just couldn’t quite love his personality fully. I think at times he was a bit too over the top with the energy and it’s more of a personal preference than an actual criticism of him as a character.I did really love their relationship though and Ryuji is joining my list of BL Green Flags, he was so honest about his feelings and he was an ambassador for healthy communication which made for a refreshing divergence from the usual BL misunderstanding plot lines.

Cute but went a bit awol
This was pretty decent tbf. Very cute, good chemistry across the board, Yoon excelled in this annoying character role and his scenes were the funniest. The first 7 episodes were probably heading for an 8/10 but then the typical Thai BL final few episode shenanigans kicked off and it got a bit silly. The plot was nice and chill, nothing too angsty or stressful and some nice bonding, until the end where it felt like the writers went oh crap we need to add some drama to drag this out, after which a kid randomly showed up for one episode and then disappeared again, the ex gf reappeared and created a misunderstanding that could’ve been solved with ten seconds of sensible discussion and at one point Tawan fled to a mountain.
I also felt like the cheating boyfriend plot could’ve been exposed and ended like 3 episodes earlier instead of being dragged out as an excuse to keep Tawan and Mork apart.
The kissing was also kinda awkward? Not full dead fish levels but there was minimal mouth movement and all three kisses were essentially just chaste little pecks that reminded me of a ten year old’s first kiss. It was kinda disappointing given their chemistry.
Also it was nice to see Ging in a role that wasn’t the jealous bitchy ex/female love interest.

Unexpectedly amazing
Didn’t expect to love this even half as much as I did!The synopsis kinda put you off but the story is so much more in depth than it lets on. The characters are realistically flawed, there’s such a great found family vibe, there’s some interesting glimpses into idol culture and LGBT representation beyond just the main couple being gay/bi.
The supernatural element wasn’t explored too much but I think that’s fitting for the story tbh and I don’t feel like it suffered because of it, in fact I’m glad they didn’t delve too into that or it would’ve been a very different kind of show.
My only (very minor) complaints would be the very abruptness of the ending and the few frozen statue/mannequin kisses that were randomly thrown in - which seemed even more out of place when the couple kissed perfectly normally at other points in the story.
Overall I absolutely loved it though - and it’s very explicit for a JBL!! I personally really appreciated the raw realism of the sex scenes in this show, the honesty of how they were depicted (with actual movement and talking during) was a refreshing change after the staged stillness of most NC scenes.
