Cheap emotional tricks by the writers

The first half of last episode was too unbelievable, the writer(s) introduced some phony emotional tricks that were well below the quality of writing for the rest of the series. They should have just turned it over to some interns who could probably have done a better job. The ending was fine but it did leave a few lines open. After the first 15 eps I expected much better.
