The Confusing Quality Of The Show Will Make You Wonder If It's Worth Your Time
The first 3 episodes are way too boring. Way too slow paced, too many awkward silences within the conversations, and some amateur acting from some of the actors. Then, somehow, it gets better.
The story develops in a faster pace, the actors show a bit more passion towards their craft & the conversations stop having these dead sciences right in the middle of them.
Until we reach episode 9.
In episode 9, we suddenly move from a college/sports setting to get a beach episode out of nowhere. The episode also skips over very important details in the events, and just gives you the end game of them all. The viewer will start feeling as if they were reading a novel & after completing half of it, they suddenly decide to skip to the last two chapters leaving some important events behind. A very poor choice from the director, that made the show’s flow & emotions feel detached & unlinked.
Then, we arrive at episode 11 & 12. The finale of the show.
However, we also arrive to unpassionate, almost feeling forced, cringe inducing intimate scenes and back to amateur acting skills, as the actors disconnect from their roles & let their own personalities show through . As if the actors forgot that they’re playing romantic couples. All except Kris Sakris Strickland & Porsche Tanathorn Charoenratanaporn playing the couple Dome & Vee. These two actors did give all in the acting department & never were separated from the psychology of their roles. So, they should be recognised for their efforts & exempted from the mess that the others made.
The soundtrack of the show is almost non-existent, aside from the perfect background music that came with the teaser of the show.
All in all, You Are My Sky had a potentially good story that was ruined by bad direction choices & fickle acting skills. So, it's totally your choice to either be patient with it all, or decide that you'd better spend your time on something else.
