This show was cuter than it had any right to be.
Going into The Princess and the Werewolf I didn’t have high expectations but I needed something light to watch. This show fit the bill perfectly, and by time it was finished it became one of my favorites. I absolutely loved it.Is it utterly ridiculous? Yes, at (many) times it is. Are the costumes good? No, but they’re not bad except for the werewolf prosthetics; they were terrible. Did I expect this to be a top quality production? No, and yet it still gave me everything I needed. I got some good chuckles from the lightheartedness of the story and one scene had me literally laughing out loud because it was so unexpected, yet so well done.
The supporting cast were all great and I really started to care about their side stories, as well.
If I have one complaint about it (besides the terrible prosthetics), is that it took far too long to do the reveal. It could have been probably several episodes shorter and been more enjoyable. Once the reveal had been made, watching the queen/princess’s forgiveness arc left me feeling a little empty and maybe confused. I wanted more from it because it felt like something was left out or forgotten. I don’t know what exactly, but after taking forever for her to learn the truth and then this weird way of working through her forgiveness, something was missing. Or maybe I was just so fatigued by then from watching episode after episode of her not knowing the truth that by time the story changed, I was more hopeful.
I think the story would have also done a bit better with the villain (villains?) story a bit more simplified and introduced earlier on. By time we learn the truth of the real villain, it seems like it was just an afterthought.
All of that being said, I really did love the show overall, and considerably more than I expected to. The ML was excellent and now I am actively seeking out other shows he has been in.
The Princess and the Werewolf is definitely worth your time if you’re looking for something mindless but that still has a really sweet love story.

I had such high hopes...
I was so excited for this show. I think Haii (Ken) is one of the most handsome guys out there so I couldn't wait to see him in something besides TT2 where we could see if he could really act or if he was just another pretty face. Turns out he's a pretty good actor when he has something to work with. Sadly, this show only gave him a small amount of that. This show was supposed to be released in late 2022 but kept getting pushed back, and while I was disappointed because I couldn't wait to watch it, I was hopeful that the delays meant they were really putting a lot of effort into making it great. That did not happen. I feel like after it was "complete" nobody actually watched it to make sure it was good before releasing it. I find it so hard to believe that any editor was okay with how this turned out because it was atrocious. I think they tried too hard to make it cinematic with pretty views and forgot about actually making a cohesive story,. There were a few scenes that I actually had to make sure my tv hadn't froze up because they were so long and still. This could have been 5-6 episodes (total) and been considerably better than it was.
Haii was amazing though and I hope he gets cast again in better shows, and what a great introduction to Boom (Lue). This was the first thing I have seen him in and will definitely keep an eye out for his future works.
