It's quite clear right away that this is not just any amateuristic drama. The way things are being filmed, the sequence of events and the way the seriousness of the actors is displayed is just magnificent.
Whereas in a lot of other Korean dramas, the bad acting is often enhanced by bad camera work, this time good acting and good editing go hand in hand.
Surely, the plot misses out on a few chances where it could've been truly terrific, like how it was fairly obvious who the criminal in the general background story was right from the start, but aside from that, the other cases were pretty interesting.
I tend to see the whole vampire thing as something that isn't that important for the case-solving - as most of the crimes weren't done by supernatural powers - but as a part of what makes the lead character (portrayed by the wonderful Yeon Jeong hoon)more appealing to viewers who are looking for something that sets this drama apart from other detective/police series.
And this drama certainly does add a little something that other dramas don't: that dark shadow that seems to hang over each case and each character (supernatural or not). That which shows that they each have their insecurities, or their pasts that they'd rather keep quiet about.

And, very much to my liking, right from the beginning it was clear that this season woul become even more dark and exciting than the first.
Where the first drama missed out a bit when it came to the mystery part (as it wasn't hard to figure out who the master criminal was behind the leading story crimes at all), the second drama certainly met my expectations.
I do feel like, for both the first and second episode, they focus too much on the supsension part and not enough on the actual revealing of the criminals and their intentions.
If, for the next episodes, they manage to fix that ratio, along with setting up a nice general background story that doesn't reveal all of its colors right away, this season is bound to be even better than the first season.

A reasonably good man turning bad for revenge against a woman who betrayed him, it's not a story that hasn't been told before. As a matter of fact, I find that a lot of Korean dramas add the element of revenge as one of the leading principles behind someone's character.
What is it then that sets this drama apart from those other dramas? So far, nothing really. What this drama misses (so far) is that extra spice that will make me continue watching it till the end.
For some, that extra spice is undoubtedly the handsome Song Joong ki. His acting abilities are okay, but is an "okay" acting and a handsome face enough to keep me watching?
The only thing, or person, that makes this drama that little bit more exciting is Park Si yeon. There's something about her way of acting out emotions that comes across as incredibly realistic, something that I've rarely seen from Korean actresses. She has a very mature aura around her, something that, unfortunately, Moon Chae won (the other lead character)lacks. I've seen tons of dramas that starred MCW and I must say that, despite reasonably good performances, she still misses that credibility that sets good actresses apart from believable ones.
And it's the latter that really make me stick to a drama.
