1. Itaewon Class
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
- aired + watched: jan 31, 2020 - mar 21, 2020
- mvps: park seo joon, kim da mi, kwon na ra, ahn bo hyun
- quick thoughts: the potential for this drama was so high, which is what makes how it ended all the more bitter. from the author's standpoint, maybe this was what he wanted from the very beginning, but from a viewer whose expectations were set high with a diverse cast and forward thinking, ambitious women in the main cast, this drama overall left a sour taste in my mouth. i think there was some performative, faux feminism that i fell for in the beginning.

2. Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life
Korean Drama - 2019, 100 episodes
- aired + watched: sep 28, 2019 - mar 22, 2020
- mvps: seol in ah, kim jae young, oh min suk
- quick thoughts: uh. i think the scriptwriters for this drama went through several rounds of amnesia. first off, the drama was advertised to be lighter than it actually was (which was basically a makjang imo). secondly, the guy in all the posters in the drama wasn't even part of the end game couple...which was just a huge wtf moment. maybe the writers wanted to focus on growth and healing and what not, but it's still ridiculously misleading from kdrama standards. the only bright spots were the cuteness between seol in ah and kim jae young, but those moments were few and far between.

3. Never Twice
Korean Drama - 2019, 72 episodes
- aired + watched: nov 7, 2019 - mar 2, 2020
- mvps: park se wan, kwak dong yeon,
- quick thoughts: on average, i think this weekender was better than the other one i watched at the same time (beautiful love, wonderful life), but generally i think the bad parts were worse, but at least they didn't happen too frequently. park se wan's country bumpkin accent was adorable, and she, kwak dong yeon, and the baby were such a cute little family. if only there wasn't so much damn interference from the rich family. also some other members of the inn were pretty annoying / didn't feel grounded enough for me to connect emotionally with them.

4. The Lies Within
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
- aired: oct 12, 2019 - dec 1, 2019
- watched: early april 2020
- mvps: lee yoo young, lee min ki
- quick thoughts: really well written + plotted out mystery, though i definitely could have done less with the gruesomeness. ugh those body parts...and the thought of lee joon hyuk's character in pain for however long this was going on...it makes me so so so queasy. lee yoo young was great as the emotional center of this show and also holding her own within all of the machinations that were going on around her.
