The Guilty Pleasures List: Top 11 Cutest Japanese Actors

As the title suggests - this article is one huge guilty pleasure filled with some really shallow and shameless fangirling :D It's completely subjective and I didn't take into account their acting skills or personalities while I was making the list (but I will probably mention them here and there). If you're not into reading this kind of shallow stuff, it's better to close the tab before it gets too late :D If not, proceed. 

First, let me say that I'm a huge shoujo and josei fan (even though I have some issues with the shoujo genre in general) but a girl can still dream, right? The following actors meet my criteria of being the hottest ikemen and the epitome of cute live-action manga characters; thus if I were to cast a romance drama, each of them would be a perfect choice.

Therefore the content of this article will focus on their physical attributes. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) You're entitled to your own opinion and you're free to dislike them but please refrain from bashing these actors in the comments, it'd be pointless! ;) Well, let's begin! Here are my top 10 cutest/hottest Japanese actors, at least these days:

Matsuzaka Tori

Age: 29 / Libra

Tori is simply gorgeous! To me, his most prominent physical attribute is the tiny mole on the left side of his face. He also has gorgeous ears, nose, and heavy-lidded eyes. I guess his everything is gorgeous. This year he will be starring in three new movies. It seems to me he is quite a versatile actor, he doesn't shy away from romances but likes to take on historical and comedy dramas. Last year he showed a kinky side in Birds Without Names. *winks*

Fukushi Sota

Age: 24 / Gemini

I can hear groans through the monitor. lol But wait a minute, you can say whatever you want to but he is a cutie. He is truly a manga character come to life. His facial features are perfect. And that's why he has been cast so many times in shoujo live-action adaptations. Have you seen him in a school uniform? Speechless. #justiceforfukushisota

Nakagawa Taishi

Age: 19 / Gemini

Am I the only one who thinks Taishi is Fukushi Sota's lost twin brother? Or a younger brother? I mean, they're even of the same sign, I think someone should notify them to undergo a blood test or something. No? Well, he looks like the younger version of Sota! lol I don't mind though. His smile is beautiful and he seems like a really promising actor, I mean, he is only 19, he's got time and he's already starred in four manga adaptations. I must admit those roles suit him perfectly.

Yamazaki Kento

Age: 23 / Virgo

I would be a hypocrite if I excluded Kento, to be honest. It is the fact that he is the prince of shoujo adaptations, he starred in 7 of them! What is even more interesting is that he's got the natural tsundere face that most of shoujo characters have. I also think he looks cuter when he's angry than when he smiles. He looks like a completely different person when he laughs, I don't know why. I know that many of you are sick and tired of seeing him everywhere, but I don't mind him really. I mean, the boy's gotta practice, let him be an eye candy while he does so. :D

Nomura Shuhei

Here's another very promising hottie. MDL'ers will probably remember him from Suki na Hito ga Iru Koto and believe me when I say he's got a lot to offer (the guy even posts nudes on his IG, lmao). He's become so popular that last year he starred in five movies and four dramas! I'm not complaining, bring him on, he is unbelievably attractive... and a bit crazy, but who cares about that.

Horii Arata

Age: 25 / Cancer
Shoujo/Josei roles: Itazura na Kiss - Love In Tokyo 2, Hana Kimi Remake
My weakness: his smile :)

This cutie hasn't starred in many main roles, he is mostly famous for Itazura na Kiss - Love In Tokyo 2 but I think that is far from showing his true potential. He is also part of a Jpop boy group D☆DATE. What made me put him on this list is definitely his smile. Whenever this guy smiles, his whole face lights up. I feel like he could get away with anything when he smiles like that! I just hope to see him in more main roles.

Nakamura Aoi

Age: 26 / Pisces
Shoujo/Josei roles: Hana Kimi Remake, Q.E.D., Boys Este, When You Wish Upon A Star
My weakness: his eyes and lips :D
Status: married to a non-celebrity woman *cries*

Aoi's face is pure perfection, I mean, look at his eyes, nose and lips. I heard he became a father a few months ago which might be the reason why he hasn't been in the spotlight. This year he will be starring in only one drama it seems *sniff, sniff*. He is a great actor though, he completely shaved his hair and eyebrows for the role in Mutsu: Mieru Me! I hope to see him around.

Suzuki Nobuyuki

Age: 25 / Libra
Shoujo/Josei roles: Anata no Koto wa Sore Hodo
My weakness: his physique xD

Probably one of the manliest actors on this list, he is also one of the tallest ones I've seen (1.85 m)! He's a member of an acting troupe Gekidan EXILE. Until now he has mostly starred in action dramas but recently they started casting him in other roles as well. I think he is becoming more and more popular, and I Iike how his height makes him tower over everyone around him lol

Higashide Masahiro

Age: 29 / Aquarius

My weakness: his eyebrows and freckles :D
Status: married to Anne Watanabe

Masahiro might be taken but that won't stop me from fangirling over him (#sorrynotsorry). When it comes to him, I picture him more as a handsome guy, rather than a cutie, but that depends on the mood I think :D He's got the prominent eyebrows and the nose, but it is his freckles and the sad eyes that make him adorable. I don't even know if those are the freckles or moles, but I like them!

Mackenyu

Age: 21 / Scorpio
Shoujo/Josei roles: Chihayafuru,Peach Girl
My weakness: those huge eyes :D

Famous for being Sonny Chiba's son, this hottie is working hard to establish his own name not only in Japan but Hollywood too. This year he will appear in Pacific Rim: Uprising and ZAPS, Inc. He is still young but his smile is darn dazzling :D It's interesting that he can portray both a bespectacled nerd and a playboy. I'm sure we will be seeing more of him in the upcoming years and I'm so glad.

Matsuyama Kenichi

Age: 32 / Pisces
Shoujo/Josei roles: none I think~
My weakness: his gloomy but cute eyes and the nose :D
Status: married to Koyuki Kato

Ok, I know that Kenichi is a bit old to be cast as a high school or uni student (lol) but in my imagination everything is possible. I picture him mostly from his Norwegian Wood days because I've noticed that he's sporting a manly beard these days. He's got that I'm-gloomy-and-geeky-but-adorable look and I can't resist it. I know that he'll never accept anything shoujo-like because he is known for picking unique and strange roles. Oh and he's got a mole on his nose! Cute! :D p.s. he knows his kisses too :D

That's it, folks! I was thinking of including Miura Haruma and Sato Takeru too, but to be honest, I found them completely irrelevant during the past few years so I skipped them and decided to give a chance to new actors.
