"Squid Game Season 2" confirmed to premiere in December!

Netflix announced that the new season of Squid Game will premiere after Christmas.

On August 1, Netflix officially confirmed that the much anticipated Squid Game Season 2 will officially be out on December 26. They also confirmed that there will be a season 3 as finale and it will air in 2025. 

Squid Game Season 2 will showcase how Seong Gi Hoon, the recent winner of the mysterious game, takes revenge by joining the game once again. 

Lee Jung Jae will continue to play his role as Seong Gi Hoon. In the new season, he will work alongside Lee Byung Hun, Wi Ha Joon,  Yim Si Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Sung Hoon, Yang Dong Geun, Park Gyu Young, Won Ji An, Lee Jin Wook, Kang Ae Shim, David Lee, Noh Jae Won, Jo Yu Ri, and former BIGBANG member T.O.P. Actor Gong Yoo will make a special appearance once again. 

The Netflix original K-drama will be directed and produced by director Hwang Dong Hyuk. 

Aside from revealing the official airing date of the new season, Netflix also unveiled another still photo for Squid Game Season 2. At the end of season 1, Seong Gi Hoon was seen with red hair flying to the United States to meet his daughter. In the new photo released, Seong Gi Hoon is seen with short black hair and sporting the official uniform of the game with his iconic number 456 once again hinting that he is participating in the deadly game once again. 

This raises questions on how the story will unfold in the new season as Seong Gi Hoon, the sole survivor of season 1, participates and gets revenge on the makers of the game.

Netflix also released the official letter of the creator and director Hwang Dong Hyuk to avid fans of Squid Game. 

The director shared his excitement for the official release of the second season after three years as well as delivering the news that there will be a season 3 to be released next year. The director also shared that it felt surreal when they started filming for the new season and he is excited to bring another thrill ride for the viewers. 

Director Hwang Dong Hyuk also confirmed that the new season will showcase the revenge of Seong Gi Hoon, his fierce battle with the mysterious Front Man, as well as his journey as he joins the game once again.
