Song Joong Ki's upcoming K-movie Bogota: City of the Lost gears up for release.

The production team of the K-movie unveiled character stills of Song Joong Ki, who plays the role of Guk Hee, a young man dreaming of rising from the lowest point to the highest.

Set against the backdrop of Bogotá, Colombia, Bogota: City of the Lost tells the story of Korean immigrants who, out of desperation, turn to smuggling in this city of last hope. The story takes place in the aftermath of the IMF crisis, following Guk Hee (Song Joong Ki), who travels to Bogotá, Colombia from South Korea, the other side of the globe, with new hope of a better future.

There, he gets entangled with Soo Young (Lee Hee Joon) and Sergeant Park (Kwon Hae Hyo), powerful figures in Bogotá's Korean community.

Guk Hee, after fleeing to Bogotá, with his family in the wake of the IMF crisis, begins working under Sergeant Park, a powerful figure in the Korean community and a big shot in the smuggling market.

Driven by his desire to return to Korea, Guk Hee displays a strong will to survive, gradually establishing his place within Bogotá’s Korean community.

The stills capture the young Guk Hee, who arrives in Bogotá clinging to his last hope but is left devastated after being robbed of all his possessions by a thief. Viewers also get a glimpse of his journey to ascend to Bogotá's highest district Zone 6, along with the deep anguish he experiences along the way.

Song Joong Ki shared, "This is the first time I've portrayed such a long narrative for a single character, spanning from his 20s to 30s. Among the roles I've taken on, Guk Hee experiences the greatest emotional changes. That was a really fun part for me [as an actor]."

Director Kim Sung Je added, "Song Joong Ki was the only choice [for the role]. He has a good voice and a face that could convey the contrast between boyhood and manhood. While I began [the project] with the Guk Hee I envisioned, I worked while feeling like I was watching Song Joong Ki bring his own version of Guk Hee to life."

Bogota: City of the Lost is set to hit the domestic theaters on December 31.
