New Comedy K-Drama "Family by Choice" Reveals Premiere Date

JTBC's Family by Choice, starring Hwang In Youp, Jung Chae Yeon, Bae Hyun Sung, Choi Won Young, and Choi Moo Sung, has confirmed its premiere date for October 9, thereby, will air as a Wednesday drama, airing two episodes on the same day. 

Family by Choice is a story of three people who, despite being unrelated by blood, consider each other family and spend their teenage years together. They reunite after 10 years. The K-drama is a remake of the C-drama Go Ahead. 

The teaser highlights the unique profiles of Yun Ju Won (Jung Chae Yeon), the beloved youngest family member; along with Kim San Ha (Hwang In Youp), Kang Hae Jun (Bae Hyeon Seong), Yun Jeong Jae (Choi Won Young), and Kim Dae Wook (Choi Moo Sung). In the teaser, Yun Ju Won, who had been indecisive about what to name the family's group chat, finally decides on the name "Family by Choice" and adds the members. 

As soon as the chatroom is created, Kim San Ha immediately asks Yun Ju Won if she caused trouble, and Kang Hae Jun questions the reason for setting up the group chat. Yun Jeong Jae and Kim Dae Uk naturally join the conversation, giving a cozy vibe.

JTBC explained the reason for scheduling the drama on Wednesdays: "With the recent rise of OTT platforms, the diversification of program distribution channels, and the shift in viewing habits toward rewatching and binge-watching, the competitiveness of individual programs has become a priority. By scheduling consecutive episodes, we aim to maximize viewer engagement with the drama, establish a lock-in effect to secure a stable viewership base, and strategically leverage this to generate buzz."
