The script reading scene of tvN's highly anticipated drama Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born has been revealed.
Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born tells the story of Yoon Jeong Nyeon, a girl with a talent for singing who strives to become the best gugak actor. The K-drama is set against the backdrop of the immediate aftermath of the Korean War in the 1950s, an era characterized by poverty.
The casting of Kim Tae Ri (as Yoon Jeong Nyeon), Shin Ye Eun (as Heo Young Seo), Ra Mi Ran (as Kang So Bok), Jung Eun Chae (as Moon Ok Kyung), Kim Yoon Hye (as Seo Hye Rang), and special appearances by Moon So Ri and Lee Deok Hwa have garnered anticipation.
Furthermore, fresh and talented actors such as Woo Da Vi (as Hong Ju Ran), Lee Se Young (as Park Do Ang), Hyun Seung Hee (as Park Cho Rok), Jung Lael (as Seo Bok Sil), Jo Ah Young (as Jin Yeon Hong), Ryu Seung Soo (as Chief Go), Jang Hye Jin (as Han Ki Joo), Oh Kyung Hwa (as Yoon Jeong Ja), Min Kyung A (as Heo Yeong In), Kim Tae Hoon (as Park Jong Gook), and Lee Mi Do (as Patricia Kim) promise to enrich the K-drama further with their performances.
The actors also expressed their excitement about participating in Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born.
Kim Tae Ri remarked, "I enjoyed reading the webtoon, and I decided to participate because I found it interesting that women's gukgeuk [traditional Korean opera] had significance and value at the time. I'm diligently practicing singing and dancing, and also practicing dialect with my [on-screen] mom (Moon So Ri)." She added, "I think it'll be interesting to watch what charm there was in women's gukgeuk that captivated countless fans during that era. And what it would be like if that charm were to be showcased through the faces and voices of the captivating women of our time."
Shin Ye Eun stated, "Since learning about gukgeuk, I've felt its many charms, and I hope you all will fall in love with that charm too." She continued, "I'm proud of Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born. Please give me lots of love."
Ra Mi Ran added to the cheerfulness by saying, "I chose to participate in Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born because Kim Tae Ri is appearing in it."
Moon So Ri shared a behind-the-scenes story, saying, "I learned vocal techniques in my twenties. I even went to Mokpo with Kim Tae Ri and Oh Kyung Hwa to study the Jeolla dialect."
