Upcoming blockbuster tvN drama starring Jun Ji Hyun and Joo Ji Hoon titled Jirisan (Cliffhanger) will reportedly have billions of Won in budget per episode.
It was revealed that the drama will have 16 episodes with a total budget of 32 billion won (~$29 million US dollars) which amounts to more than 2 billion won / $1.8 million dollars per episode. It is said to be the most anticipated drama of tvN in 2021.
It will be the comeback of top actress Jun Ji Hyun on the small screen after her SBS 2016 hit drama The Legend Of The Blue Sea. Meanwhile, this will be Joo Ji Hoon's return to tvN after his work with Kim Hye Soo in Hyena. Many are already excited to see the blockbuster drama with such a star-studded cast and crew.
Jirisan started filming last October at Namwon Jeolla Province amidst the pandemic and things were going smoothly until the Covid-19 situation escalated in South Korea and one of the staff tested positive. The team ultimately decided to halt further production until December 31.
The staff who tested positive didn't have close contact with the actors as the person only checked the set ahead of the resumption of filming. Both staff and actors are worried about the halting of filming and if they can resume with the current spread of Covid-19. There are no exact plans yet after they announced the postponement of filming.
The drama is written by Kim Eun Hee who's known for her works such as Netflix's Kingdom, tvN's Signal, and many other hit dramas. It will also be directed by Lee Eung Bok who worked on tvN's Goblin, KBS' Descendants of the Sun and many more. Other cast includes Sung Dong Il, Oh Jung Se, Jun Suk Ho, and Lee Ga Sup.
tvN's Jirisan (Cliffhanger) is subject to air in 2021 and it will also be available on various global video platforms such as IQIYI.
