"Connection" Continues on Decent Ratings
Actor Jang Dong Yoon offered to play Go Hyun Jung's son in The Mantis.
An entertainment industry insider revealed to Sports Chosun on June 27, "Jang Dong Yoon will be the lead in the new drama The Mantis." The actor's agency is yet to release an official statement.
The K-drama will be a remake of the French series of the same name.
The Mantis tells the story of a woman who was imprisoned as a serial killer long ago, and now someone begins imitating her style of crimes. She collaborates with her son, who is a police officer, to track down the new murderer.
Jang Dong Yoon (Like Flowers in Sand, My Man Is Cupid, Daily Dose of Sunshine) has been offered the role of Cha Soo Yeol, Jeong Yi Sin's son (Go Hyun Jung), who is the serial killer nicknamed Mantis. He is the detective who will work with his criminal mother to catch the copycat serial murderer.
Jang Dong Yoon is a well-known K-actor renowned for his versatility. His recent K-dramas include Like Flowers in Sand, My Man Is Cupid and Daily Dose of Sunshine. Notably, for his role in Like Flowers in Sand, the actor gained 14 kg to play a wrestling athlete.
The Mantis will soon complete casting and begin filming.
