FUJII RYUSEI

Birthday: August 18, 1993; Osaka, Japan
Job: Member of Johnny's idol group, Johnny's WEST
Blood type: B
Height: 181 cm
Weight: 64 kg
Siblings: Fujii Shuuka, Fujii Karen

I decided to write about Fujii Ryusei, a member of Johnny's WEST, Johnny's idol group based in Kansai. He's the older brother of Fujii Shuuka and Fujii Karen! He's a huge airhead, who has a very cool aura as long as he doesn't open his mouth. (But honestly, he's just too cute!)
Since I focus on him more like an idol and singer, I still haven't watched all of his dramas, but I can guarantee you – the ones I have seen so far are enough to make anyone fall in love with him!

Dramas

SHARK 1st Season (2014)

I watched this drama for Ryusei, but to stay completely spoiler-free, I'll just say that we don't really get to see much of him. This drama was made pre-debut of WEST. If you enjoy dramas about music and bands struggling to reach their goal of a major debut, you might enjoy this drama. The plot is very predictable, but what made it enjoyable for me was Ryusei's character, Kitagawa Kazuki, he always made me feel feely feels. His words and the overall aura and charisma of his character just made my heart go 'Doki Doki'... And I am saying this not because I'm completely biased on Ryusei!

Samurai Sensei (2015)

Even though Ryusei only plays a supporting character, Saeki Toranosuke, I found this drama very enjoyable, both because I am a nerd when it comes to Japan and Japanese history, and also because it's very entertaining. It has an interesting story and is overall a very pleasant experience. As a fan of Ryusei, I think it's not worth it to watch it only for him since he only plays a side role, but I am happy I watched this drama, because.. Trust me. It's good.

Rent-a-Rescue (2016)

One of the very best dramas I have seen in a while. Entertaining, the cast is great and the best part is, you get to see blonde Ryusei in very heroic situations. Ryusei plays the main role in this drama, spotlight-loving Aoi Denjiro, who is a rental saviour. It's exactly what it sounds like. The only downside is how short this drama is. Also, prepare for a lot of winking with very wet sound effects.

Honou no Tenkousei REBORN (2017)

Fans of J-drama who watch shows on Netflix have heard of this masterpiece for sure. This Netflix original is a weird mixture of everything that tends to be weird in Japanese media, starting with the anime/manga-ish format, ridiculous characters, and just overall silliness. I'd also love to recommend this drama not only to those who wish to see Ryusei but to anyone who is interested in getting to know Johnny's WEST, as it features all of the members.

Sotsugyo Bakamentari (2018)

In this drama, Ryusei plays Horiguchi Gaku, a literature student, trying to lose his virginity before graduation, alongside his three friends. They struggle together, make great memories and they are trying to do their best to reach their goal. I personally loved this drama. I have to agree that it might not be for everyone, but if you're trying to find something with the right amount of comedy and emotion, this might be it. I honestly felt so bad for the guys, seeing them struggle! But I just had to watch and cheer them on.

Tasogare Ryuuseigun (2018)

Tasogare Ryuuseigun is the newest drama in which Ryusei performed; being released only at the end of 2018. In this drama, you can see Ryusei star in the main role. It's definitely a more serious drama than the others I wrote about before. I suggest it to everyone who prefers drama and more difficult storylines over comedy and light-hearted stories.

Variety Shows

Agent WEST

The premise of Agent WEST is very straightforward. In each episode, selected members face a problem or a question – referred to as missions. The members also have certain character roles, for example, the adventurous Fujii Indie Jones, or a detective character, Fujii Holmes.

I hope you enjoyed reading my first article and that I sparked your interest in this wonderful idol!
