After her midnight filming for her drama on the 19th of June, actress Gong Hyo Jin (The Master's Sun, The Greatest Love) was involved in a three car rear-end collision on the highway.
Gong Hyo Jin was traveling in a van on the Yeongdong highway towards Incheon. While the van was switching lanes, it collided with Mr. Park in his 4.5t truck. Immediately following the collision, Mr. Kim rear-ended the actress’s car with his 2.5t truck, resulting in a three car accident.Everyone, including the driver of the van, Mr. Gong, had injuries and were rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment. Her agency responded to reporters through a phone call saying “Thankfully nobody was seriously injured. Gong did hurt her forehead, back and her face but they are minor injuries.” They also revealed that the staff members riding in the car along with her had only slight injuries as well. However, shortly afterwards, Gon Hyo Jin’s agency announced, “We thought the injury was minor but after a few more tests, it seems that Gong Hyo Jin has fractured her left arm and will have to rest for a while.” Gyeonggi Highway Patrol police, after a careful investigation, decided the fault was on Mr. Gong, who was driving the van that started the accident, and has charged him for failure to drive safely.
On June 20, actress Gong Hyo Jin’s agency, Management SOOP, gave an official update on her current condition following her involvement in a three car accident yesterday: “Gong Hyo Jin is currently hospitalized at a hospital near Seoul. After successfully undergoing surgery for her arm fracture late last night, she is getting rest at the moment.”
They continued, “The results of the surgery are good so the actress is taking steps toward recovery. Once her condition improves, it seems that she will be able to rejoin filming for the drama ‘It’s Okay, It’s Love.’ However, the exact schedule has not been decided yet, as we are currently discussing details with the drama team. The staff members who were also involved in the accident are receiving treatment at the hospital and resting as well. Additionally, we will let you know if there are any more updates.”
Meanwhile, Jo In Sung and the production team of “It’s Okay, It’s Love” will continue on with their plans to film in Okinawa, Japan.
On June 22, Jo In Sung and the rest of the cast and crew will take off for Japan ahead of Gong Hyo Jin, who is planning to join them depending on the progress of her recovery.
Initially, the two lead actors were scheduled to leave for Japan together, and carry on shooting for about a week. However, due to the actress’s unexpected car accident, there was a hitch in the original filming schedule.
