Currently Watching
Here I am again to present you another drama I'm currently watching.
This time, I'll talk you about the latest remake of Itazura na Kiss.
Unlike a lot of members, I think, I haven't watched any of the previous versions nor have I read the manga or watched the anime. It's a story totally new to me.
Enjoy!
The Story
Aihara Kotoko (Honoka Miki) is a simple high school girl who, for 2 years, has been madly in love with Irie Naoki (Furukawa Yuki). After spending an entire night writing him a love letter, she finally decides to gather her courage and confess her love to Irie.
Unfortunately for her, it doesn't go very well...
After being bluntly rejected by our guy, she decides to forget him for good.
Could her life get worse? I mean, for her, being dumped like that is humiliating and almost equals the end of the world...
Well, actually it can...
She and her dad are moving into a brand new house. This should lift up her spirits a little, right?
It would have if on the moving day, her house didn't get hit by the fragment of a shooting star...
Yup, a shooting star...
Fortunately for them, one of her dad's old friend saw what happened to them on television and offers them to stay at his house while theirs is being rebuilt. Thumbs up for you Iri-chan!
Life finally brightens a little.
So you think! HA!
But actually, no.
Well, for Kotoko, at least...
It so happens that her 2-year-crush, Irie-kun, is the son of her dad's friend.
I'm not sure if I would have the exact same reaction as hers, but I think it'd be pretty close.
And so begins her life under the same roof as Irie-kun...
The Main Characters
Kotoko is a simple girl and let's face it: not very bright ^^"Aihara Kotoko
She's an optimist, hard-working and always sees the bright side of things. And she seems to like very cute things.
She's also a very bad cook...
Looks more like some sort of stew... | I feel you there. Maths have always been a mystery to me as well |
Uh? Okay... | See! Cute things! |
Irie Naoki
The guy whom Kotoko falls in love with. Unlike her, he's bright (IQ 200), doesn't even need to study to place number 1. He's the kind of person that looks down on people, well on stupid people to be precise. Most of the time he shows a stern face. Little details about him: he's fluent in English and his mom used to dress him as a girl when he was little.
Looking down on people again... | Kawaiii!! |
Ikezawa Kinnosuke
One of Kotoko's best friend, Kinnosuke (Yamada Yuki) a.k.a Kin-chan, is someone who's very expressive and loud. He's always on Kotoko's side, and doesn't understand why she loves Irie so much. Especially when he loves her so much. Despite not being very good with his studies, he's a great cook.
PS: Did I mention that he has a lovely Kansai accent?

Why Watch?
Well, for the people who've seen the other versions, it's an occasion for you to enjoy the story again.
In general, that drama's just so cute without being stupid cute. Also, this drama has one of the most adorable moms I've ever seen in a drama. And Kotoko's not as annoying as I thought she would be. There's a little detail that I find important nonetheless, since most of us cringe when they hear people supposedly fluent speak English: Furukawa's truly fluent since he lived in Canada and in the US for 10 years. Isn't that great?! No cringing!! Yay!

I think the acting's really good. For a 16-year-old girl, I think that Honoka's doing a great job. Especially considering that Furukuwa's just 10 years older than her (Yup, I had to check more than twice to be sure that I wasn't mistaken). You fooled us all, mister (Well me, at least), and Honoka seems to handle that perfectly.
And last, but not least, a screenshot from my favorite scene so far:
-You have bread crumbles on your shoulders-
-Uh? :O -
Well, that's it with another of my CWs.
Hope you liked it and will decide to watch Itazura na Kiss :D
