Rookie (2023)

In una scuola cattolica in cui le suore non vogliono una squadra di basket femminile perché "questo sport rende le ragazze gay", una nuova studentessa si innamora di un nuovo sport, la pallavolo, e della sua compagna di squadra. Un film bellissimo che con delicatezza e in modo spensierato, mette sotto i riflettori temi importanti come le molestie sessuali e la chiusura mentale, ma senza mai diventare pesante grazie a momenti teneri e allegri che bilanciano il tutto. Grazie a questa miscela, lo spettatore non staccherà mai gli occhi dalla scena, sentendosi coinvolto in questo emozionante percorso di crescita che fa appassionare sia alla protagonista che a tutto il team.

An okay movie to kill some free time

It's a sport-themed high school GL. The storyline is not really focused on sports, but it revolves around the friendship that is formed through sports and the romance that blossoms between two players. The character development is underwhelming, and the movie's climax is predictable.

It also explores sexual harassment in female sports team, which I think is something important to highlight. Even though the sexual harassment issue is not satisfactorily resolved, I think it's important to address this matter, especially in school-themed movies. Overall, it is a pleasant movie.

Simple and worthwhile

This movie was a lovely surprise. It's a straight-forward, well-realised coming-of-age story with a strong focus on sports and friendship, as well as a delightful romance.
The audio and visuals are strong, the script - while not perfect - is solid, and the story quite skillfully tackles some more serious issues like sexual abuse and homophobia even if it doesn't focus on them too heavily.
Watching this honestly felt like watching a classic 2000s teen sports movie, it had such a wonderful sense of nostalgia about it. It reminded me slightly of Bend It Like Beckham except, you know, actually gay.
If you consider the story by itself it may be nothing too special, but it's earnest, fun, and delightfully queer - a perfect watch for a cozy weekend.

poucas coisas na vida são tão homoeróticas como escola exclusiva e time de esporte e esse filme decidiu juntar o melhor dos dois mundos.

o tempo do filme é relativamente curto mas é uma história tão divertida que você não percebe que o tempo tá passando. é muito bom ver um filme que tem seus dramas mas a felicidade dos personagens é o principal foco. você vibra com os personagens e fica tão aliviado que as coisas dão certo. foi uma experiência muito legal! os personagens são uns amores e o romance entre as personagens principais é um abraço quentinho
