─ the twist of adult child.
Started this drama without any prior knowledge about the plot or the full cast. So, there weren't any expectations but I was glad to find this twisted and psychological approach to this kind theme. The conflict between desperation and greed was nicely written. From the beginning, the sisters and chef reminded me of children that are forced to become adults. Neither managed to grasp freedom and instead followed a way that offered them dream like escape. At some point, you find yourself feeling bad for them, another time you question their morals and greed. Even at the ending scene, you still witness the twist in their ordinary looking lives, which I think was quite unique to see.
While the story had its ups and downs, sometimes left you looking for more and sometimes felt draggy, the cast did awesome job at their characters. Especially Nam Jihyun and Choi Hyunwook rightfully owned the spotlight as they portrayed desperate people that did not hesitate to turn bad when it comes to "being able to live."
Overall, it was a nice watch that delivered specific messages successfully.

A decent thriller that shows what greed does to people
I found it from out of no where , literally no buzz, no proper subs yet found it decent and enjoyed watching it.If you compare it to a book you read the first half and found it interesting , You turn the page and every character feels new and different in the second half . The story pace is quick and the plot twist's are new and refreshing.
It is basically about cookie addicts , family bonding and betrayal upon betrayal. The only strong bond i found in this is family bond the rest is all betrayal and greed.
The characters are twisted and dark , you can literally trust noooo one in the drama.
This is basically one of those dramas where they do something bad and unethical and blame it on the past traumas , helpless situation and greed to become rich. By in the end as one of the characters says " all of it is just an excuse".
In the end, do i hate any of them , definetly NO. Yet i cannot overlook the little yet obvious plot holes here. They show a person has full power and is invincible yet the next second they show the same person is vulnerable and weak.
Moral of the story :-
If you expose your weakness , vulture like humans will not think even a second to take advantage of it and greed can get you to do anything and ur mind will probably give you a concinving and reasonable answer to it.
I would say the hero here is ... not Soo Young... not Ho so, not seong pil, not minyoung BUT " The cookie"
If you are into mini thriller series who thinks little plotholes are bearable and enjoys excellent actor , you can give this a try. Every episode has something new at times dumb things for you.

"거짓말은 거짓말로 막는 거야".
🔸The 8th episode is when I hoped this burnt cookie flips over and shows us its colorful glazing. Alas! This webdrama seems to arise more questions than answers, and by the middle you don't care enough to unravel them. By "questions" I mean it throws random interactions, circumstances and accidents at the viewer and expects you to edit the drama in your head by yourself. The plot is atrociously incoherent and unconscious. I have never met such disrespectful and humiliating for its viewers drama. Not even Seven First Kisses can compete.Who want what? Who does what? Why? Why aren't all the students at that school high on those cookies? Or why are they? Doesn't that "application coach" have better things to do? Why does everyone hate everyone at school? Did you really think I was gonna believe that idiotic ending? Did you really think I was gonna empathize with all those detestable characters? What do you think I am?
🔸The reason I'm so furious about this webdrama is that such good actors as Choi Hyeon Wook (right after the splendid Twinkling Watermelon), Jeong Da Bin and Nam Ji Hyeon ended up in the hands of a screenwriter who lacks any emotional intelligence whatsoever. The presence of the director of Youth of May didn't help either.
Undoubtedly, there are many people who thoroughly enjoyed the story, but I took it very personal, as you can see. I just can't battle the detestation that kept arising in me with each episode. I gotta admit, it's harder to explain why a movie is bad than to tell how much you love it. It's still the ground to explore for me.

Mixed feelings on this drama…
When thinking of how I could describe this drama in one sentence, all I could think about is how difficult and confusing it was to formulate a sentence. It a really good drama in the middle. Both the beginning and end are harder to watch to me. Not because of the content, but because of the atmosphere and character choices. For me personally what made the beginning and end hard to watch was Choi Min Young, I don’t know if her character was meant to be so frustrating. But every time she was present, I found myself uninterested in the way she would go about things and her character development. That’s why for me the middle is the best part, her not being there drove the story even more, but also allowed the other characters to do things freely without her holding them back. An example of what made me frustrated, and also showed that she was kind of a hindrance to the story was when she first wakes up from being in a coma she starts pulling strings, as if she has been there the whole time. She seemed like a very controlling character that had no reason to be as controlling as she was. Maybe that’s just her personality and she’s very strong headed but for her to wake up and tell her sister “we’re gonna go back to normal” “you can’t do this anymore” etc.. was something that made her not only unlikable, but made the drama harder to watch.
Besides CMY making the drama herder to watch, how slow, some of the characters were in making fast paced decisions made me disconnect from the story that was being told. I think for the content and situations that they were in a lot of the time you had to be really fast at what you’re going to do next otherwise they would be repercussions. Yoo Seong Pil for instant did this a lot and maybe because he is a police officer you could tell those times where he would pause and think everything out. But he would do that during scenes in which you can’t pause. You could say that he’s acting this way because of the drugs, but those are also drugs that enhance thinking so it’s very weird of him to take so much time to do something. Like when Seo Ho Su’s mom was having a seizure I couldn’t tell if he was being strategic in not helping her or just froze in fright. Either way from what we know of him he’s a smart cunning person you would think that in that situation he would be on top of things without hesitation.
Despite of the characters lacking storylines, my favorite part of the drama was in the high school. There’s a lot that Choi Soo Young could work with, and I really enjoyed her dynamic with Song Jin Woo. Those two characters were the highlight of the whole drama for me. I liked how she could be funny at times with him and he would be serious but also kinda let his guard down. If drama has a season two I would love to see how the characters develop more because there was a lot of them that needed background stories because I couldn’t understand why they did what they did or how they got to where they are.
✧Overall the dramas is pretty good, if you have time to watch it, please do so. But it’s also not a drama that is a must watch. My opinion the best episodes are 4-16 so if you don’t mind how the drama kinda drags in the other seven episodes, then give it a watch. I think this drama would improve with a season two that explains why the characters are who they are. In the end it was a harder drama to finish, but at least I was able to complete it.

No sugarcoating, just pure grey
It's great to see a drama that understands the focus of what makes a fascinating drama is the characters and it's a real shame that there is no proper subtitles yet as of this writing for this twisty thriller that's a meditation on the desperation to do whatever it takes to survive and to claw a sense of relief from poverty/abuse/neglect/illness/etc that is being faced. It's kudos to the writing and performances that the main characters can illicit both sympathy and disgust for their selfish yet understandable actions through the lens of their individual needs.I felt so bad for Ho Su who felt cared for by the person who wanted to kill him and betrayed him when she saved him, that little bit of kindness, even knowing it was self serving to save her sister, was such an ocean to him that he entrusted his most precious information, his mother's location to him and she tragically caused her death. He himself has caused so many deaths with his drug cookies, but his folly of humanity, of wanting love, connection, and trust was pitiable.
It was also so sad that Soo Young's wish is is what she's living by proxy with the facade she as Eun So, the senior year she never had, school, friends, dating, looking forward to university without the baggage of her broken family and needing to raise her sister while being barely older herself. Her photobooth scene with Jin Woo and neither of them knowing what to do was so funny. As Eun So, she showed that she is resourceful in using the connections of various cookie customers to get information and creatively get out of situations. It shows what potential she could have had.
There are no saints in this story, but everyone is a protagonist of their own. There is a high death count and the show is not afraid to make the characters to explore what lines they will cross to get their objectives and the fallout of the decisions. It's kind of funny Ho Su and Sung Pil kept coming back from assumed death. The end seems to set up for a possible continuation. I hope that this drama will get proper subtitles either from a kind translator or from a streaming service that will pick up the distribution for it.

A rollercoaster ride
So first of all I wanna say I did not find any good translations for this drama. This may be a bit of a problem or not decide for yourself. However, I gotta say the first episodes were okay then at episode 9-10 I dropped the drama for like 10 months until I finally finished it now. It got better is all I can say and it had some really good plottwists but the end ruined it for me again. It was kinda like a rollercoaster ride. So honestly, I would not recommend this drama to anyone. Nevertheless the acting was incredible especially for Nam Ji-hyun, Choi Hyun-wook and Kim Mu-yeol. That point definitely convinced me. I'm kinda sad they wasted so many good actors/actresses on this drama. Well whatever I guess.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?

Not your typical ending
Welll my bad for expecting it gonna finished wiith bright ending end with friendship values. You can't overlook the fact no matter how good reasons/purposes the characters have, they all are actually criminals, no difference with drug seller irl. I'm not saying the deserves those ending but they don't deserve happy ending neither. Overall as someone who fond to thriller/crime and action, I love it. It exceed my expectation, not expecting the twist and ending though. The 'expect the unexpected' in this is hardOn characters? Hosoo's whole story build up is the most painful sad, I cried. But again, he is the backbone to all of these. Jinwoo. My fav character, rooting for him for no reason and devastated when he no longer live... The actor is good expressing using his eyes. Would love to see more eloboration on his relationship and Hosoo. Sooyoung/Eunsol is a strong character indeed, just lost in the end which cause a hugeeee damage

Loved that Kdrama
I’ve watch that kdrama because of the cast and I was not disappointed, my fav actor in the cast is Choi HyunWook I was wondering why he would choose a role like Seo Hosu that at first but I understood why at ep9I really loved that character as well as Choi Minyoung and Choi Sooyoung
I think the story itself and the idea of Cookie is amazing, I loved the plot twist at ep9 and ep19/20 about Seo Hosu, what he did and what happens to him as well as what happen the Sooyoung, and finally I hope for a season 2 because of the last scene with Minyoung

Fresh
the story was intriguing at the start, the drug cookie... everything looked fine, until the unnni join the game and everything fell into place even more. the mystry of who the chef is, was growing on people, me included. the unexpectedness (even though i had a little doubt) dcbjwsbfvbew was so gooooood........ preferrable for the psychological thriller part..... it is good with intense throback to school culture of being always on top.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
Dropping it because the subs are missing
PS. My ratings here are random since I couldn't post a review without them.I read the comments and seeing two types of ppl : those who struggle finishing eventho it started off well and those who, as well as I, want to make their own opinion on it but can't because of how weird the subs are on streaming sites to the point I'm thinking abt dropping the series since the subtitles are weird asf and incoherent... Characters all had their names written in chinese when here you could clearly tell their names are supposed to be korean 💀 to be more precise about the problem.
Having the subs being off makes the series understanding hard for us since nothing is coherent and relevant 😭. This just destroyed the ratings of the series and even its chance to be well-known
