Heartwarming + Action
I’ve no doubt on Jackie Chan movies, most of his being the best in the industry…but acting with the horse almost the main lead here I was doubtful at first if he managed to pull it thru and yes again he didn’t fail us audience!Watched it just two days ago in the cinema and ended up using my serviette tissue for my popcorn (luckily I ate 2/3 of it while waiting for screening to begin, else too busy focusing to eat!) eating to wipe my tears and blow my nose (okay I did it discreetly…lol) it’s really touching and didn’t expect it to be so touching.
Jackie’s fighting styles are my all-time favorite and together with the horse (I must admit I’ve seen some hard kick-ass scenes are done with CGI which anyone will notice if they stayed behind for credit roll—Jackie’s way of production to share BTS clips—it will show but it doesn’t stop me from being amaze with the choreography of the fights) it was superbly done and the bonding between him and the horse is strongly portrayed. Many moments whereby his closeness with his horse and unwillingness to give him away seems so real that makes my heart cry.
Jackie’s character as a father with his daugther was wonderful…at first it doesn’t occur to me it will have such good fatherly chemistry (probably bcos knowing his real life story of estrange relationship with his real son) but he did nail the character well and to some extent his determination and relentless professionalism to make his stuntman career work for himself & his stunt team and also hoping to concurrently make his family ties work does seem to be his real life story (yea and after watching only I read somewhere some content it’s about his life story as well).
Appreciate how the editing includes some of Jackie’s other great movie production works clips and BTS into this movie…(some may say it’s just reproductions of his past works to insert into here but hey how many actors who have such strong foundation in stuntmanship yet also having so much great movie clips to share…hence such good works should really share) and watching it again (yes i rewatch many times during his many interviews last time) does makes me teary how a person can challenge his own limits to this extent, enduring the pain and yet still carrying on.
Jackie Chan isn’t any younger (I’ve watched him since I was a kid as he was my late father’s favourite actor) and reckon if possible it’s best to watch this in cinema as a form of support to the diminishing production of action movie in the industry…and it’s much better audio and focus in dark cinema to get into the atmosphere as not to waste the opportunity to see and feel how good this movie is… : ))

New Jackie Chan Movie
It is wonderful to see a new Jackie Chan movie, though seeing this movie does really show how much age has caught up to Jackie Chan also. The movie has alot of humor in it, started with humor but ended up really tearing up at the end. It is a very touching move. You may want to watch it with a pinch of everything nice and stop side tracking movies. Animal activists etc, please..... if you wanna pick a movie, there are tons of movies that includes animals including the olden times - even the English movies. If you want to watch a movie, watch with an open mind.Overall, it is a really good show to watch - hey it's Jackie Chan after all! - and all the casts did very well in this movie. The songs are also nicely paired, I love the duet Jackie did (was rather hard to find also - without any snippets of the movie in the song. It is definitely worth a first watch, the rewatch would have to base on individual thinking of the movie.

Woohoo... So long not watch Jackie Chan movie at my local movie theater... And I enjoy every moment of it... Haha...Heart warming story about the struggle stunt-man and his family. Sometimes from our screen we often forgot the one who work behind the screen, especially the stunt-man for our actor/ess.
The story revolve around Luo Zhi Long (ZL) & his family. Story begin with ZL & his horse having problem about ownership, that problem make ZL has to contact his long detached daughter. After that finally their journey to win the case begin & also rekindle their relationship. While at the same time ZL himself finally start again his stunt-man job together with his horse.
Really like in the end how he finally realized how important family are. And how to appreciate the relationship with his family. And how to choose what's more important between his pride or the safety of his own & his family (the horse. Haha...). And at the very end we can see that loyal animal is not only dog but also horse, or maybe just basically any animal that we take care with our full heart.
Through out the drama I also thought, what it feel for Jackie Chan himself...? Is it like slap in his own face....? I think ZL relationship with his daughter quite like his own relationship with his son in the real life. Is he also mend his own relationship with his family like ZL did with his daughter...?
What interesting: We can see many many clip from Jackie Chan old movie & his own stunt. Haha... Seeing that clip really make me nostalgic & want to re-watch his old movie.... :D
What missing from this drama:
Unfortunately this movie missing 1 point in my opinion. It's gonna be more perfect if the last movie that his friend talk about movie for appreciate stunt-man really comes to the screen. But anyhow without this it's also perfect for the story, cause this actually not really focus in that aspect too...
Overall this really good movie to be watch for....

Its a 'meh' story from a legendary action star
While I may be writing this review now, Ive actually watch like months ago. I'll try to keep it a decent length reviews as found that there are loads of negatives and positives comment from here.1. I love and admire the relationship between Jacky and his horse. Its like a man's best friend but in a form of a horse, I mean wow, I am really suprise a horse can have that level of emotions, loyalty and closeness to Jacky. And in fact, 40% of the comedy comes from him. Cool...though towards the end...you know..some find it emotional but personally, I kinda lean towards the annoying side of it...its like they placed a bread to heat in the oven..but they tune it to like 300°C, 20 minutes...yea its that over. I see some people kinda am ok with it. Great for them, but for me...nahh thanks.
2. Generic father- daughter troubled relationship. Swear this isnt Jacky's first movie with this concept, its a rinse and repeat format which I was like..yea...some parts did well, but others...I felt that the daughters role may have overshadowed Jackie...not my cup of tea.
3. You see stunts...little bit more stunts here but...seems like he is rinsing his last bits of stunt ideas, some parts were exceptionally great, like my mind was like ' WOW, A HORSE CAN DO THAT?'. Admiration...that is something cool there..
4. Tribute? I am gonna lie, I feel that is a wrong way to show a tribute and a totally drain water whose idea is to use his old stunt videos as a tribute. To me, if you want to do a tribute, keep it glorious, respected, motivational, emotional. However, I only see emotional in this one. There are so many scenes he could have be like...Ok this is my last try (the castle scene), where je did it in a glorious way and give it that ending people crave for..but you know what they did? Give Up!. Kids, teens, adults, everyone who are watching this...dont do that. Dont give up! You wont know how close you are into achieving it. Just because of a few phobia, he decided that he is done for it.
I am gonna stop here, do have loads more comment on the choppy storyline..like it felt they had multiple teams writing their part of story and just connect it. So, parts will be uneven and even confusing. But, still...I see the beauty of this drama from the man-horse, father-daughter relationship and selected stunts. And one more thing...Jacky is better of as a slapstick comedy man then an emotional one. But yea, here it is, my review.

Jackie Chan’s Sentimental Stuntman Comedy Is a One-Trick but Fun-Trick Pony
Jackie Chan’s recent output has been somewhat hit or miss and I still consider The Foreigner the best film he has done in years; the trailers made Ride On look like it was going to be more of the same and although there is still plenty of classic Chan humour I wasn’t expecting to get as emotionally involved in the story with Jackie giving one of his best performances in years.I’ll admit I was nearly sobbing by the end as I’m a softy for anything involving animals and Ride On’s greatest find is the horse Red Hair. It must have taken an age to train the horse to do all the tricks he does in the film but it could be argued that he actually gives a performance; I know that sounds crazy but if you see the film you’ll understand.
Ride On is a love letter to the stunt industry with Jackie playing aging stuntman Luo whose career has seen better days but when he reunites with his estranged daughter his fortunes change and his life takes a dramatic turnaround.
It must be the hardest thing for someone who has relied on their body be it in stunts or action movies to make a living but when age catches up to them they have to face the harsh reality that they can’t really do it anymore. Jackie uses footage from his classic films throughout so this feels like it’s a biography of his life disguised as a movie giving it extra emotional heft.
Although this is more of a drama there are still plenty of fight scenes with Jackie proving that even despite his advancing years he still has what it takes in the action department; his dedication to the craft is unmatched which is why he is one of the greats.
Despite having several fight scenes Ride On is a little slow at times and may put some viewers off who are just looking for a straightforward fight film. I found my patience rewarded as I was fully engaged with the story and couldn’t wait to see how it would all work out in the end.
Wu Jing shows up in an extended cameo but he has no fight scenes so if you’re expecting that you’ll be disappointed.
Overall, Ride On is a heartfelt love letter to stunts and the action industry with Jackie Chan at his best and an almost scene stealing turn from a horse (never thought I’d write that). There are a few fight scenes to keep viewers interested but this is more character based than action driven.

stop use animals in movies!
even here play a legend i can't give it 10 stars jus bc of it! yeah Jackie is a legend ok ,he is a very powerful actor and martial artist but i don't support movies where they use animals and specially in action scenes ...firster u can watch it and think "wow that's cool they so wonderful manage all it " but then u see how suffering animal , u see the pain or fear in his eyes ... no matter how computer technologies are good nowadays u can't hide real emotions or deleted them thro Photoshop ! so.. that movie bring me sadness while i watch it..too bad they use animals in movies! u can see how bad the horse looks, the ribs are visible and he is clearly afraid (episode) when he is attacked by a group of people with axes .. I don’t think that the animal is the same actor that can perfectly convey emotions when it is needed ! animals are not humans! it is a pity that the public organization for the protection of animals is not looking anywhere to that ! it's a pity that people stupidly exploit animals for profit! no matter what u say, but best of all, real feelings are conveyed by the eyes of animals ... the horse is clearly not comfortable with all this that was in the episode, even though he was trained for certain commands .. and remember guys ,one day will no animal in this world bc of u who's support to use them in movies! and one day someone gonna treat ur animal for bad if y support something like that ! ..i read how they ( directors and some animal org) lie to journalist that "no one animal was harmed or die) but the truth is in a lot of movies a lot of animals already was harmed bc of no water no food for them or some action / no accurate scenes ...all u can find in Google and some big companies who's must protect the animals and check in every movie with them * that they are all treated well , they ain't do it and trynna hide the fact that some animal died bc of humans action ! it's horrible! untill u don't stop it it's never end ...animals matter in this world same as humans ! same as " black lives matter "or whatever what matter ! so ppl be a humans ! don't forget that without animals u can't live! u must care about them but not use or kill !Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
