Another show that Mnet almost ruined
Note: This is solely my opinion on the show, if you want to create an opinion before judging mines I would suggest you watch the show.(Spoilers!)
I first got into SWF when I saw it on TikTok and it looked pretty interesting. Also, as a dancer of 6-7 years anything that has to do with dance competitions gets me immediately hooked. I’ll start first on the judges, I feel like the show should’ve actually chosen famous choreographers or people who are well respected in the dance community instead of K-pop idols who would probably help the show gain some popularity cause what k-pop fandom wouldn’t support the group members or their favorite solo artist. Second, the music, it was okay to be honest but there were times during the dance battles where if I was probably on stage I wouldn’t know what to do but I would have to give a big applause to the dancers who despite the lack of music in some episodes were able to add their own sense of style. There was one battle between Aiki and someone else (i forgot) but Aiki got this really girly song it was just bad music to freestyle to but she did really well and was able to make her dancing styles stand out despite the song which is really hard to do for some dancers. Finally, the drama, I will not lie the only drama I was actually into was the CocoNButter and HolyBang drama. But after that ended, there was more drama that try to start up that was not it at all. I understand that it was Mnet’s terrible editing to make certain people seem toxic or catty. As a person, who watched this for the dancing I took nothing from it and it just ended up being an overly edited reality show to me. In conclusion, I’m glad I stuck by the whole thing.Though the show was an mediocre watch, I was able to learn about new dance groups and I’m also searching for more dance shows.
K, bye :)
P.S. I think there’s a Chinese version for this which has Wang Yibo in it (which is probably the reason I might watch it) I’ve heard good things about it.

I had already heard of some of the dancers, like Honey J and Hyojin Choi but the show introduced me to a lot of new faces and it was cool to see everyone's dance styles and the crews perform.
The first episode was probably the worst - with some of the camera work in the dance battles really bad where you couldn't even see the dancing properly but it got better after. I think it's the same production crew that does SMTM because they use the same sound effects and so it's understandable that the filming was rough at the beginning if they're not used to filming dance battles.
I probably wouldn't rewatch the entire show, but there were iconic moments that I would happily rewatch and you can find the performances on Youtube. Overall this is a good show to watch if you're at all remotely interested in dance. There is some drama too (because of course it's reality TV) but honestly that sort of fades and I feel like the dancers genuinely cheer each other on which I liked.
It's a 7.5 to 8 for me, but I'll round it up since there were some truly great dance battles in this show.
