Beautiful, authentic story about loving the right person at the wrong time.
i for one really loved the authenticity of this story. All 3 couples struggle with a sort of "right person, wrong time" romantic storyline, and they don't shy away from portraying the raw and real emotions that come with it.
I personally find episode 11 to be the best overall in the show, a really beautiful representation of how difficult and scary it can be to figure out your own identity after you've been living in the shadow of someone else your whole life.
Really lovely show.

The Confusing Quality Of The Show Will Make You Wonder If It's Worth Your Time
The first 3 episodes are way too boring. Way too slow paced, too many awkward silences within the conversations, and some amateur acting from some of the actors. Then, somehow, it gets better.
The story develops in a faster pace, the actors show a bit more passion towards their craft & the conversations stop having these dead sciences right in the middle of them.
Until we reach episode 9.
In episode 9, we suddenly move from a college/sports setting to get a beach episode out of nowhere. The episode also skips over very important details in the events, and just gives you the end game of them all. The viewer will start feeling as if they were reading a novel & after completing half of it, they suddenly decide to skip to the last two chapters leaving some important events behind. A very poor choice from the director, that made the show’s flow & emotions feel detached & unlinked.
Then, we arrive at episode 11 & 12. The finale of the show.
However, we also arrive to unpassionate, almost feeling forced, cringe inducing intimate scenes and back to amateur acting skills, as the actors disconnect from their roles & let their own personalities show through . As if the actors forgot that they’re playing romantic couples. All except Kris Sakris Strickland & Porsche Tanathorn Charoenratanaporn playing the couple Dome & Vee. These two actors did give all in the acting department & never were separated from the psychology of their roles. So, they should be recognised for their efforts & exempted from the mess that the others made.
The soundtrack of the show is almost non-existent, aside from the perfect background music that came with the teaser of the show.
All in all, You Are My Sky had a potentially good story that was ruined by bad direction choices & fickle acting skills. So, it's totally your choice to either be patient with it all, or decide that you'd better spend your time on something else.

Three love stories but only one is impactful
I do not know what drew me to watch this series. Perhaps it was the synopsis of three gay couples featured and frankly this series was a bit under the radar. But I am glad I watched it. Certainly, this series was a mixed bag both in terms of emotions and story content. It matured and seasoned well towards the end except for one major flaw. Its editing left a lot to be desired. The story jumped and ebbed and flowed without a lot of consistency especially in its time jumps. The story became very uneven then. The love story between Dome and Vee is the one worth watching.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
Ok...yeah just ok for me
I'm late to this party, so maybe it would be better if It came to me one episode each week. I found myself toward the end fast-forwarding occasionally. The main couple had a great story but not fulfilled by the script or acting. Dome and Vee were the most intriguing couple even though the complication was a Yikes! Sean and Aii to left me cold. Maybe others will like it more. Just my opinion. PS I did watch it to the end though. PS that's a good thing so at least the story kept me watching till the end.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
something is missing
I feel like there are some parts of the series that were missing SPOILER ⚠️: break up scenes and other scenes were not added so I feel like the story is not complete. I also felt like some part were all over the place and some situations that should've been in the drama was skipped.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?

a gem in the rough, but a gem nonetheless
though the story starts off slow, confusing, and a little awkward, this series gets better as it progresses. i do also think we have to take into consideration the time that this was filmed in, there was COVID going on, restrictions in group gatherings, and a generally pretty rookie cast.you really see a lot of the challenges this production had to work with, especially in regards to the games, crowds, and how they used it to portray "loneliness" on the court. i wish they had gotten the chance to film this without a pandemic going on, but they honestly did a great job despite it all. i also think the cast, despite being pretty new overall, did a great job.
the only downside of this, is that the time skips were very jarring. one episode thorn gets hurt, and the next one he's already had a surgery (that he doesn't seem to be using any recovery medical equipment for?) and it felt like i missed an entire episode. honestly, i had to make sure i didn't actually skip anything... still, it was a great watch, and i think it highlighted the complexities that come in sports and relationships well.

Love will find a way
As far as story is concerned, You're My Sky doesn't reinvent the wheel. Rather than that, it follows a compass of a few tropes you've likely seen before such as childhood friends to lovers or the cutesy admirer who is really a borderline stalker. The romances here all burn and develop slowly over time, utilizing both flashbacks and time skips throughout the series. Flashbacks are one thing, but rather than time skipping forward and learning what happens through spoken dialogue, I'd much rather watch the action unfold before my eyes than listen to a recollection. For me, the story didn't really pick up steam until about episode 6, where the three leading couples come to a turning point in their relationships and face their feelings head on. Torn and Fah are your classic childhood friends to lovers who must learn patience and communication with one another in the midst of a highly competitive basketball scene. Saen is the rich and stylish cling-on to the nerdy and introverted Aai. Right off the bat, Saen confidently proclaims his interest in Aai in front of the whole faculty at the rally in episode 1. However, if I'm remembering correctly, we never get to learn why he likes Aai in the first place. I really wish we got to learn more about their relationship as opposed to the brooding, angsty, emotional constipation of Dome and Vee. I do like the story and dynamics at play here, but so much of what we see from them is just... frustrating to watch.
Visually, You're My Sky is stunning. The lighting and coloring always sets the scene so beautifully. The music is fit for the mood and never distracting. As far as the acting goes, all the lead couples deliver a passing performance. At times they can seem a bit stiff (namely Tae and Kris), but are offset by their co-star who handles the heavier parts. Suar played Torn fantastically in the second half of the series and Vee showed us he has a lot of promise going forward.
Don't be put off by a slow. disjointed start to this series. Give it some time for this slow burn to turn into fireworks;.

The sky's the limit
A series about questioning one's ambition, what one strives for, commits to, dances around, You're My Sky shows us characters trying to find a balance between love and life. There are some issues I'd like to highlight. One being how they execute the time skips in this series; I feel it tore down what each episode was trying to build upon. Next is, this might be broad, but this is a series with a slow, gradual pace. For me it wasn't an issue, however I can understand it might be annoying for those who want to watch something with a much faster-paced plot. So if you don't dig slow burn romances, or just slow paced stories in general, this might not be for you.
What SHOULD be regarded as deserving high praise is how this story deals with its complexities. From relationships, moral compass, to what each character tries to achieve, I love and appreciate how the focus is more broad. It's not only romance, but it has friendship, sports, dynamics, so much that adds depth to the plot. The production really showcases the budget taken to create You're My Sky; eye-catching scenery, beautiful cinematography, very rich and colourful tones that are bountiful in terms of aesthetics. Lastly, the acting, from rookies who are playing such diverse characters? Incredible job, seriously. They add such life to their character and portray something unique.
It is shocking how criminally underrated this series is, because it is worth diving into. There's so much to You're My Sky than it has to offer from its brief synopsis.

Solid story about college friends and their love lives
I like the plot of this series! There are a lot of moving parts but it never felt overwhelming. And for the most part, each couple got their screen time. I will say, Saen and Aii were by far my favorite couple to watch and I think there could have been more focus on them. One thing I think was lacking in this series was the on-screen chemistry. It's obvious from the plot and the script that the couples are in love. The acting seemed to fall short of that tho. I say that with love because it was fun to watch! I do feel that the plot did require more chemistry to be properly pulled off.
I'm surprised how much they squeezed into 12 episodes tbh and overall I would recommend it! If you like love stories, sports stories, college stories, this has all of that. Including heartache and a happy ending. I don't know if I would watch it again but I enjoyed watching it thru this time!

Lumayan ...

Exceeded expectations.
There is nothing average about this show.I loved the character development, I appreciate the fact that people faced consequences for their actions.
I appreciate that there is more than one couple whose stories are explored fully and given enough attention.
Thorn and Tupfah.
I don't understand that people do not get the fact that he was as much a professional athlete as Tupfah. I would even argue he was the better athlete. He never wavered from what he wanted.
The pain and loneliness he felt after his injury was heartbreaking to watch. I cannot imagine going through that and then having your friends and the person you love exclude you from their lives.
Starting secret chat groups? Talk about ghosting.
His 'friends' sneaking to the beach to talk about their futures without him was not how people who care about you react.
Tupfah knew he was in the wrong hence lying about the training sessions with Chain in the mornings. While Thorn encourages him and supports him, he keeps secrets from him. He promises Thorn that he will always be available to him, but breaks those promises every time. Of course, Thorn would feel betrayed. When he tells Tupfah that the only reason he would be alone is that others left him? That was such a powerful line, delivered perfectly by Suar. His acting was incredibly in these scenes.
Overhearing Tupfah questioning his love for Thorn to Chain of all people, again betrayal.
His actions after that are understandable, this is his life too, his passion too. He does go about it the wrong way, but it is out of a need to prove to himself and others that he still counts. After realizing how wrong he was, it leaves him terrified that he would lose everything, again. It is only here that Tupfah finally and thankfully realizes how much Thorn was hurt.
Aai and Sean? Typical BL storyline, there are some issues, but again, it is resolved easily by the last episode.
Dome and Vee,
This was a problematic relationship from the start. If Dome broke up with Pan as soon as he realized he has feelings for Vee, it could have mitigated the fallout. But he doesn't, he actively pursues Vee, while still dating Pan.
Vee's reaction when Dome tells him he is going to break up with Pan was authentic, the guilt consumed him at that stage.
Even when Pan tells Vee that she is okay with their relationship, how do you explain that you are now dating your sister's boyfriend immediately after they broke up?
I do give Vee credit that he knows this is wrong, distances himself from Dome. He is mature enough to understand that it will take time for everyone to move on before they can pursue a relationship.
In the end, it is the only thing that they can do.
