Underwhelming romantic drama ,, good watch overall

Started somewhat interesting at first ,, had some potential ,, but it got draggy in the middle of the first part
boring and draggy ,, I barely watched the first part awake ,, there were not so much happening
the other couples were more interesting than the leads ,,, their love stories were enjoyable to watch even their kisses
the main lead's naïve persona was annoying sometimes ,,, the second male lead who loved the female lead was so much more than the male lead's character ,, he was the one who truly loved her from his heart ,,he kept her protected from his own father and evil followers ,, he helped her achieve what she hoped for ,, he was the one who had every thing wrong for him yet tried to save the female lead on every turn also he let her be free never controlled her or imprisoned her in anyway ,, he was truly the perfect lover not like the male lead who was self absorbed in his hatred towards the female lead and tortured her physically and emotionally while she was dying ,, their relationship wasn't healthy not that I consider love at all but may be it turned love at the second half of the second part
to be honest this drama had some good episodes and some really bad ones ,, it was over all enjoyable watch but I won't be watching it again ,, it's one and done
Jia Lun Ren the male lead is a very good actor but I don't know why here he wasn't that good ,, sometimes felt his acting was really off and weak
the kisses were as his usual fake ,, didn't feel real at all ,, his acting away from the female lead was good but with her was underwhelming
the female lead's acting was good not the best but I can't complain about her ,, she did her best with what she had
Actually the secondary characters were the most interesting in everything plot or acting

Overall best drama 2022

The very first thing I love this drama is the songs and the background music. The songs play with different instruments. Just love it.

The characters as well as good.

这部 《与君初相识·恰是故人归》是我最喜欢的一部剧。
每一年只会看完几部电视剧， 而 2022 年就是这一部。
可以看到音乐总监在这部剧的用心。
每一首歌都好好听， 是为这部剧量身定制的。
多种乐器和节奏的背景音乐一出来感觉就对了， 眼泪也流了。
这部剧需要慢慢细品， 建议戴上耳机 headphone 更加能听到背景音乐的优美旋律。

Honestly, it's amazing.

I mean, TBW really surpassed my expectations. I don't normally write reviews like this, but this one deserved it. The CGI is beautiful, the cast is amazing, the storyline is well-developed, and there's actual closure in the drama. Besides, the romance was developed beautifully, so in the end, the true love that the leads had for each other was really showing.

I think the best part of the drama was that besides all the misunderstandings and the overall angst, there was an equal amount of humor in it. There were no plot holes- like the things made sense in the end. It's just everything you're looking for in a historical drama. The acting is spot on too.

Personally, the storyline could have been developed further. They didn't have to show so many deaths, but I guess thats just one of the unique parts of the show.

The opening OST song is amazing, literally its so so good.

So, overall, its totally worth it.

Male and Female lead roles on reverse.

To be honest, watched the show because of the actors. From the Male/Female lead to supporting roles, they're all great.

The first few episodes seems a bit aimless and typical for this kind of genre. Only, the ML and FL roles were on reverse. FL was the hunter with a willful/playful personality. While ML was the reserved one, fiercely protective and loyal to a fault.

The redundancy here was a bit tiresome. Like how the FL lied to ML over and over and over again. Or how they commit the same mistakes again and again. These goes for everyone, even the supporting roles. Or how every problem can be solved only through life sacrifices.

Then there's the second half of the show, heavy on the heart tugging moments. Luckily, the writers were humane enough to give us a happy ending.
