A relaxing bedtime story
I have a problem to differ part 1 and part 2 as two separate dramas, so I review them together as one.Plot: 7
_______________________________
★★★★☆ Main idea:
--> Nothing extraordinary, but I still really enjoyed it.
_______________________________
★★★☆☆ Logic:
--> Plot sort of makes sense, but there are many unreasonable and annoying twists that disturb the overall impression from the story.
_______________________________
★★★★★ Pace:
--> It was interesting till the end.
_______________________________
★★☆☆☆ Impression:
--> Not much intrigued. It was an average plot.
_______________________________
★★★★☆ Skip rate:
--> I skipped some of the side plots, but not much.
_______________________________
★★★★☆ Annoying factors:
--> I generally don’t much like evil characters, that are evil just for sake of being evil, with no personality of their own. A lot of the antagonists here were these kind of characters.
--> I was also a bit disappointed by the ending – it felt like they wanted it to be a happy ending, but didn’t really know how to lead the plot there, so it felt like “tragedy, another tragedy, more tragedy – boom, an unexplainable happy ending!”
Characters: 8
_______________________________
★★★★☆ Lead 1 - Merman:
--> He wasn’t the best lead I’ve ever seen, yet I pretty liked his evolvement from a child-like naïve to a grown leader.
_______________________________
★★★☆☆ Lead 2 - Ji Yun He:
--> I pretty liked this character in the first part of the series. I was a bit disappointed by her in the second part thou. She was presented as very clever and inventive character, yet in part 2 she became a martyr, unwilling to explain herself and unable to guess the merman’s feelings – simply playing dumb just to drag the plot to a few more episodes.
_______________________________
★★★★★ Overacting:
--> The are some side characters with a melodramatic personality, however this had no bad impact on the show, since it was simply the part of the plot.
_______________________________
★★★★☆ Acting:
--> Liked the acting.
_______________________________
★★★★☆ Annoyance level:
--> Annoyed by some side characters, with no personality of their own, which existed just to make things difficult for one of the leads.
Background: 9
_______________________________
★★★★☆ Soundtrack:
--> Really liked it.
_______________________________
★★★★☆ Visuals (camera, scenery, visual effects, ...):
--> Really liked it.
_______________________________
★★★★★ Wardrobe (costumes, hairstyles, makeup, ...):
--> Absolutely loved it.
Rewatch value: 6,5
I assess this value based on impression, skip rate, annoyance level and overall preference.
Final verdict: 7,5
In general, I liked this show. I really liked the visuals and costumes, and the story, though not one of the best, was still a beautiful tale I enjoyed very much.

Where the heart is, that is place called home...
I'm so excited when I heard Allen Ren Jialun and Dilreba Dilmurat were confirmed as Chang Yi and Ji Yunhe. Not only did I'm falling in love with the novel, but I also waiting for Allen and Dilireba to act in a wonderful drama. The story, personally I love angst stories, so this is one of my favorite plots. And yes, the story is sad enough to make me cry a river. Although there are some little differences from the novel, I really satisfied with the drama's plot. The differences made the drama perfect in their way.
I was afraid when the total episode didn't fit the story from the novel that was already beautiful. But now I really grateful to the crew to develop such a great story and didn't miss any important points.
Cast, Allen is one of my top favorite actors, his acting never disappoints me. How he portrays Chang Yi was perfect. The cute and innocent Big-tailed Fish, and the charismatic and admirable Beiyuan Master. Honestly, I was so excited when I know Allen joined this drama with Dilireba. I really looking forward to them.
I watched YAMG for killing time waiting for this drama, and I know Dilireba is the perfect Ji Yunhe for me.
And Sa Ding Ding, she is stunning even in small character.
Music, with Sa Ding Ding, Zhou Shen, Mao Bu Yi, And Jin Zhi Wen, I know this drama will tear my heart for sure when I hear the drama OST. They are really amazing.
Rewatch value, I definitely recommend this drama to you, and I loved to rewatch it again, It's not easy to find Chinese drama that suits my taste very well like this.

next part
Different from part 1. I really like this part quite a lot. Although I must say the pacing still so damn slow makes me really want to hit that speed button, but unfortunately I can't.What can we learn from this part:
* Everything are given & take. Want to bring peace to the world, there are someone or some people must sacrifice for that cause, that also lead someone being sad.
* Everything must or better be talk about, like the decision that Yun He (YH) & Chang Yi (CY) made for the wedding or to close the volcano. If not there will be someone who regret or misunderstanding happen, like when Li Shu just silent about his sacrifice or when YH did in the beginning that lead to all the misunderstanding for YH & CY in the most part of their life.
* Everyone must make decisions for themselves, like Cheng Yu must make decisions to go apart from his master or like YH with her freedom.
* The most difficult decision sometimes to forgive urself & accept ur wrong doing. Like what actually happen with Ning Qing past with Ning Ruo Chu & Qing Ji.
* Last but not least. Everything already arrange by destiny. No matter how hard you try to avoid that destiny, everything will just gather where is supposed to be. Like how Lin Hao Qing try to avoid YH meet CY, in the end they still meet each other.
I still really like Kong Ming (KM) & Luo Luo (LL) couple. They are my fav couple apart form our main lead. They are so cute & adorable, the wodden KM paired with happy go lucky LL is so adorable.
And yes I really like the pairing of Dilireba & Ren Jia Lun, I can sense their chemistry. I think except Bai Lu in forever & ever, Dilireba is the most compatible partner for Ren Jia Lun. And also a little pitty with Wang Yi Fei, this is the third time I see her act as someone whose her love is not reciprocated, but fortunately she is in here not as stupid as her other character in other drama.
What I don't really like from this part is unfortunately is the ending. Where is our time stamp, how long it's pass since YH go to that volcano until she wakes up again? Why YH can have tail? But upon all the hanging being made, I still really like the ending too... It just perfect to close the curtain.
So when I think about this drama as a whole, I think I'll give this drama 7.5 rating in total.

And on the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the...script writer's lack of creativity?
In my personal rating system of "loved," "liked," "meh," and "nah," this rates a "liked" with potential to rewatch. I'm reviewing both seasons in this review since I suspect two seasons was just a way of getting around the forty-episode cap? This was neither the best xianxia nor the worst xianxia I've ever watched (it that is even the genre we can put it in). I have actually never watched a drama with Dilraba as the FL and I thought she did fine (though when she was dying, instead of looking tired and ill, she just looked a bit stoned, but that's a minor complaint). I neither love nor hate Allen Ren, but I thought he did well in this one--and his wig designer did a nice job of finding him a flattering look (AND best of all, there were not two long dangly bits of hair on either side of his face that I spent the entire drama wanting to snip off! [I'm talking about you, Novoland: Pearl Eclipse!]). I felt that both actors were playing characters they were used to playing and were good at playing--nothing challenging for them, but that did not make it a bad drama.
As the title of this review implies, the dying and coming back to life did get repetitive. I seriously said out loud "Oh you've got to be kidding me!" when they showed the SML in his father's wheelchair with basically the same injuries at the end. Poor guy, he loses his girl and his mobility--his death when he fell of the cliff made way more sense. This is basically the world of the gods and immortals, so surely you can play around with some more plot devices than resurrection? I mean, there's not a lot of restriction on reality. And if this was a xianxia--where were the rest of the gods? Why was the Heavenly Realm just a kid and three older men?
The "I'm going to sacrifice myself for the sake of the world [and not tell my partner about it]" also got a bit old. I feel like a lack of communication can sometimes just be lazy plot/script writing (on the other hand, events in my own life have led me to sympathize a bit more with people who do not wish to tell the truth so as not to hurt someone else...).
I also appreciated that Dilraba's character never gave up her desire for independence and freedom. Even when ML was playing the dominant, possessive lover, she never gave in and always tried to escape no matter what--even though she loved him and understood why he was doing what he was doing. Whenever he told her she was his, she replied that she was her own, not his--which I love b/c that machismo BS in dramas makes me mad and I love that the character refused to put up with it.
I liked the scenery, costumes, and music. Sometimes, I felt the songs were overused, but as it must cost a lot to get a couple of fresh songs written solely for a drama, I can imagine them wanting to wear them out a little. :)
If you like xianxia, the main actors, and/or a drama that won't make your brain work too hard while at the same time not boring you to death, this drama is worth the time.

Spoiler warning:
Why on earth was everyone scarfing themselves for their partner I thought that was really sad.
Questions:
Why does Sunde and Ning Xiyu have the same appearance?
How did Luo Luo come back?
How did Ji Yunhe come back?

The only show to make you continue through all the episodes no matter how sad they are !
As someone who rarely watches show filled with misunderstandings or fantasy dramas, this one took me by surprise. The amazing acting of all the cast from the lead cast to the support all exceeded their capabilities and gave their all to give an absolutely wonderful performance. I would recommend this show to everyone, it will truly take in your interest by the amazing lighting scenes and CGI used. Just like season 1 this season 2 truly gave justice to the story. I urge everyone to watch season 1 and 2 of this amazing drama.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
They kissed! Like Real Kissed.
I felt like this was the most anticipated drama of 2022, what an A list cast with epic budget, explosive CGI and impressive costumes.I 100% watched this drama because of Dilraba Dilmurat and Allen Ren and what can I say. The no kissing clause is no more! I know it's silly to mention this but it was very disappointing to see The Long Ballad with no kissing and Allen's 6 years of dramas with no kissing. To have the main leads actual kiss, really made a difference in my opinion.
I have mixed feelings on this drama. Overall, I enjoyed it and it's hard not to with the over the top CGI, beautiful costumes and impressive sets.
For me the drama is broken into 3 different arcs. I'm not sure if I favored one arc over another, but the drama does have the classic fantasy C drama vibes. You have the epic, melodramatic love and obstacles coming from all angles. The most gripe I have is the pacing of the show.
First off, I didn't like watching the first few minutes of the drama, because it gave us a flash forward of what happened to the couple (that doesn't even happen until midway), so throughout the entire first half of the drama I was wondering when the first few mins would be explained, I wished they left that part out.
I did like the first arc where the FL and ML met and the ML is very innocent and happy. I love the inner torment of the FL (and I know some complained about this) but I really enjoyed watching the FL struggle. I felt like it gave Dilraba depth of character.
The second arc I struggled the most because of the pacing. I felt like it felt forever to resolve the main issue that couple was going through. I enjoyed watching the secondary and third couple (although the butterfly was a bit too young for him, so it was a little creepy) but a hilarious storyline to watch.
I kind of wished the main couple didn't struggle as much and we got to enjoy more than the few episodes here and there of their "cutesy" moments. That's something I couldn't help compare to the Long Ballad, where I truly loved the pacing in that one.
By the time we get to the 3rd arc I was a little tired of the couple struggling and I was wondering when the resolved misunderstanding would happen because it's been dragged way out.
I feel like if you are a fan of the actors and love fantasy high budget C dramas, this one is worth watching. The sound track is pretty amazing and it's just an overall pretty drama to watch. But for me, it doesn't hold a candle to the classics.

Great Xianxia saga and painful love story ( ͒˃̩̩⌂˂̩̩ ͒)
To continue this large Xianxia saga (with sects, earthly and celestial immortals, merman, etc.) and the tragic love story ( ͒˃̩̩⌂˂̩̩ ͒)PLOT S2:
After a painful separation, the ML, merman played by Ren Jia Lun, is now at the Court of Foxes. When she manages to escape from the Immortal palace, the FL (Dilraba) also finds herself there, very ill. To protect her, Chang Yi will hold her prisoner until her death (sacrifice). She then comes back to life as a fox, then finds a grieving Chang Yi and gets her memories back. But the war against Evil continues.
PROS:
+ A great cast with as CL, Dilraba and Ren Jia Lun
+ Well-developed 2ndary characters
+ The storyline is addictive, you never know what will happen next.
+ The production is dynamic. We can see that the budget was high :) because the CGIs are of very good quality and the images, sets, costumes are amazing!
+ The OSTs are very suitable for this great saga.
CONS:
- Some inconsistencies in the storyline.
- A botched ending for the CL, with a lot of plotholes and an unexplained 300-year ellipsis... Too bad (๑•ิཬ•ั๑)
=> Despite everything, a MASTERPIECE not to be missed!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dommage (๑•ิཬ•ั๑)
=> Malgré tout, un MASTERPIECE à ne pas rater !!

Heart breaking sacrifices
One of the better dramas with good writing on the many sacrifices that took place. Heart breaking and lots of tears shed as the music and cinematography added to sadness of each sacrifice.Unfortunately though, Part 2 started off draggy in the cold North Abyss in comparison to Part 1 which opened with an engaging story in the beautifully imagined Flower Valley.
Seeing the FL suffer constantly being trapped and on the verge of death made for dreary watch with no end in sight for a reconciliation between the main couple. Some of the storylines like the evil spirit, Heavenly King and 3rd couple were also not very engaging.
Although the love triangles were carried through from Part 1, I am glad it didn’t turn into jealousy and instead have the 3rd wheels being understanding and letting go. I still loved the second couple here in Part 2 and cried buckets again for them.
As with Part 1, I enjoyed how realistic everything looked especially the animation of the powers swirling around and the portals and energy shields that remind me of Dr Strange. Costumes were gorgeous and stunts well done.
Thankfully, the ending was mostly happy although it was the usual vague, leave it to your imagination type for the main couple.

this shows already knocked me out in in part 1 in the fist episode and part 2 was no exception
yo this shows knocked me out in less than 1 episode in part 1 it can also be the same for part 2 too once again the songs in this drama is masterpiece been listening to all of them on youtube. the plot is a continuation of part 1 but this term it will have a reunion between ML and FL but sadly they will part. this shows still sticks with the emotional bombs when you leas expected it they drop an emotional one on you when you think it will go to a happy ending they drop a tragedy for example when the ML Chang Yi(Ren Jia Lun) was supposed to die from a freezing poison and sing to FL FL Ji Yun He (Dilraba Dilmurat) during the wedding night dammit it got me good cause i taught he was gonna die and he didn't but i was not expecting FL to get imprisoned in order to save everyone. this drama was intriguing and interesting . not only that i like the FL she didn't back down or waste too much time when it comes to plotting escapes or saving people the FL character is a strong and smart one. this drama for me was extremely satisfying for me. just so you know i am a big sucker for tragedies, especially good ones.Questa recensione ti è stata utile?
This is more intense and more serious than part 1, however it also contains a lot of cheesy part that most Wuxia seris has.
First, the petty misunderstanding. I honestly thought it made Chai Yu's Character seems so narrow minded and petty.
He knew that Jin must be lying and obviously as smart as he is, he should of know Jin was lying. His hate and reaction would of been better IF Jin actually betrayed her in a much cruel way - just to save him. Not that scene on the cliff.
He acted like an immature brat bullying the girl that he likes.
Allen is really handsome in this part though. Unlike part 1, I couldn't finish the rest of the series and I escaped a lot of scenes.
This series has so many characters and backstory that I really don't care about. I wish they had just focus on the love story instead of the usual "the mac has to sacrifice themselves and be the hero for everyone, so they can die "
