Story: Has a dark undertone to it due to the themes that the writers brought to the forth front: obsession, jealousy, birth secrets, lies. The writers did an amazing job keeping me guessing with the romance and just keeping me glued to the screen (most melos become repetitive after a while). What I loved most about it though was the hopeful/happy ending(you dont get those too often in melos).
Actors/Cast: I didnt know any of the leads but i was quite impressed with the casting choices after watching a few episodes. Han Hye Jin has amazing dramatic chops and i loved her chemistry not only with Joo Sang Wook but also her frenemy Kim Min Jung. I'll be honest, when i first saw KMJ on screen I got taken a back by her looks and not in a good way. I was so shocked that they would choose an actress that was not as pretty as the other main lead because it was hard to believe the main male character would choose her and become obsessed over her at first as he did. But when the time jump happens she is given a total makeoever and her amazing acting skills begin to shine. I really think both lead actresses did an equally tremendous job. I didnt like the second male lead characer, the acting was bad and his character really wasnt needed. Loved the rest of the supporting characters.
Music: Dark and moody to fit the atmosphere.
Rewatch- I will definitely watch it again because it had excellent pacing and i enjoyed it so much the first time but not for a bit because its so twisted.
Overall Thorn Birds is a different kind of melodrama but very enjoyable if you like gritty stories.

I had a difficult time feeling any chemistry between the 2 main leads, and it didn't seem their romance was developed realistically or steadily throughout the story. The little girl was cute though.
Both main leads were flat/boring and lacked a bit of character or personality.
The female antagonist got very annoying and her antics took up a lot of the drama. The people who catered to her as well, you just wanted to shake them with frustration - but not necessarily in a good way!
Overall, not a bad drama for a filler, but not something one could marathon.

It does not deal with a love story as the main story, but centers on the relationship of the two girls.
I really liked, the (in fact very implausible, but that can't be a measurement in dramas xD) story and the conflicts it caused.
I also really liked the characters changing. In the beginning I really didn't like Seo Jung Eun, but that changed. I also liked the "bad", the supporting cast. And I liked that there were no real "bad ones" or only "good ones".
I also really like the supporting cast of Seo Jun Euns friend and Lee Youngjos Brother. It was refreshing and funny. I would have liked more about that ;)
Of course, there were things I didn't like also. The lovestory of the mainleads could have been so much more wonderful! But they didn't really got the chemistry maybe.
In ways of Seo Jung Eun I think her character could have been more interesting if she had a darker tone also, I mean if she would not always do everything "right", but that's my opinion. Also Lee Young Jo was a little colorless as a character.
Then I would have liked Seo Jung Eun to visit her adoptive home of her childhood once again in the later episodes and also have more like a REAL friendship with Mi Ryun, because Mi Ryun couldn't even tell her she can't have babies? Why not talk about that as friends.
And I didn't like Han Yoo Kyungs clothes. She looked like 13 with that small figure of hers, like a doll. She always had very short skirts. I wouldn't have taken her seriously as a producer. And I mean, she wanted to be tough, to look tough. But still look supercute? Maybe for the manly audience.
And that Han Byul was always shoutin Daddy! was a little annoyin to me too.
I still really enjoyed watching. I didn't really notice the music. Nothing to listen to later for me in it, but not annoying either.
There are only very little dramas I would watch twice, because I think it's boring if you still now what was going on. No actor of this drama blew my mind that hard that I'll have to watch this again, even if Joo Sang Wook is eyecandy, indeeeed. I think the story didn't get boring, but "the suffering" in the later episodes was tiring.
I would recommend this drama! It makes you think on your view of things :)
So, that's it, my very subjective opinion.

The drama had a decent amount of episodes. And it was spaced out nicely. The story line was good, and was easy to follow.Bad points first:
How ever i felt that the main female lead lacked emotion. The daughter she had adopted didn't really feel like a mother daughter relationship. I didn't feel a bond. And i think its important for the viewers to connect with the characters. The romance that was involved was also a little boring. I also got frustrated on how the female lead couldn't stand up for herself. And how she didn't realise the second FL was using her. And again with the romance, i didn't feel the chemistry between the leads. And felt like the relationship was rather sudden after living in the same house for 6 years you'd think that they would love each other a lot. And i just didn't get that vibe.
Good points:
But, the story line was good. The second female lead (for me) i felt i could connect to the most. Although she had given up her daughter, and wanted to abort her, i some how still felt sorry for her. Her character was good and felt like she developed well. Even though she did a lot of bad things. But she somehow made a come back, and became a decent human being. I felt she was a misunderstood character, since all she wanted was her mother.
All together it was a ok drama. But personally for me i don't think i'd re watch it as sometimes i kind of felt bored, but pushed through it to see if it got any better.

this drama is not too bad!
This show is OK for a melodrama. & honestly, I enjoyed the FL and adored the ML (yum!) I actually didn't find the drama too terribly long or drawn out, surprisingly, since I usually do on these types of shows.Man did they give us a character to hate though, am I right? I hated her guts and wanted to throat punch her SO bad SO often throughout the show.
Also, though I liked the ML... I couldn't LOVE him, mainly because he fell for such a you-know-what of a 2nd FL! I mean... why? how? and can we trust a guy with that kind of taste in women? I think NOT! lol
and finally... SPOILER SPOILE R SPOILER BELOW, but...

OMG I hate a "give the evil bad b*^ch a disease at the end of the show to make everyone forgive/forget her epic evilness through the whole show like it never happened plot device". UNGH. Yeah, that happens. -_-

The Root of Misunderstanding
I just finished watching "The Thorn Birds". It is a lovely story. I especially like the actresses Han Hye Jin that portrays the "up and coming new actress" Seo Jung Eun and also Cha Hwa Yun that portrays the "mature actress" Lee Ae Rin (Yoon Myung Ja). Veteran actress Cha Hwa Yun really works well as a catalyst, she makes the character Seo Jung Eun and character "script writer/film producer" Han Yoo Kyung (that is portrayed by Kim Min Jung) blend well in the story.I especially appreciate what the costume designers create for the cast. We notice that character Jung Eun always wear flats as her footwear that tells us that Jung Eun is a very modest and generous. She is so humble, also she is not wanting any attention or recognition for her efforts to help Lee Ae Rin recuperating from her breast cancer surgery and raising the little youngster Seo Han Byul. On the other side, we notice Yoo Kyung always wear stilettos and pumps which represent determination, competitiveness and also intimidating. Jung Eun is so clueless and shares so much information with Yoo Kyung without realizing that information is power. Yoo Kyung is so conniving and seduces Lee Yeong Jo (portrayed by actor Joo Sang Wook), that is the beginning of all misery for our female lead character Jung Eun.
I would recommend "The Thorn Birds" as the ending is not too depressing after Jung Eun stands up straight and speak up against Yoo Kyung to protect her adopted child, Seo Han Byul.
