nice

Nice twist and conclusion that tied up loose points in the arc! Arisu the goat <3 Agree with the other review. The acting in this show really sells it, the story and plot developments are masterfully crafted, and the pacing is on point. Kudos to the actors, screenwriters, director, and original creator. And although the show itself is super brutal, it at least acknowledges the insanity using its 2 morally upright MCs, so we don't get numbed to the killing. Enjoyed every single episode. The production value was off the roof :)

Pain. :/

I'd heard a lot about this drama, and my expectations were sky-high. Happily, I was not disappointed this time, and it was one of the best JDramas I've ever seen! The storey begins when all of Tokyo's population mysteriously vanish, and the main character (Arisu), a boy who has quit school and spends a lot of time at home to play, and his two buddies were put forward into a new reality. To survive, you must play the game of life or death. It's fascinating how each suit on the card represents a different sort of play and how each one has been carefully thought out. Even with the intense moments, it was difficult to take my gaze away from the screen; I was perplexed as to what was going to happen, what was going to happen. The acting is amazing, the tales of all the characters grow extremely well over the course of eight episodes, and the action scenes are breath-taking. It was incredible. Although I thoroughly enjoyed it, if you are sensitive or have a weak stomach, this drama may not be for you. There are sex scenes, a lot of blood, a few (very explicit) fatalities, and scenes of attempted sexual assault. Arisu absolutely wowed me. The main player, who first appears unlikely to be accomplishing anything significant with his life at the time, is placed into a bizarre one-world hellhole. He exhibits his knowledge and survival ability, as well as why he is the primary character and why he must live. Every step of the way, I found myself rooting for him. Then there's Usagi, a climber. A woman who first gave the impression that she didn't care about other players and was more concerned with her own survival. We only saw a glance of her when she played her first game with Arisu, but they became a duo a few episodes later. Her development with Arisu has been outstanding. She genuinely cares about him, and he genuinely cares about her. They both strive for survival and, for the most part, put themselves first. This was only a glimpse at what type of character development is to come for the two of them and I am interested in seeing how their bond will grow and develop.
