Cleopatra na Onnatachi (2012)

The acting in this drama was good, and I especially enjoyed the performance by Sato Ryuuta in a role different from his usual ones, but the unique script was what kept me watching. I didn't know much about cosmetic surgery before watching this drama, and story really challenged me to reconsider my opinions about it.

The story was somewhat episodic, but kept a nice balance with the long term plot arcs. The different clients visiting the clinic all had different stories and reasons for pursuing body modification, and the story did a good job addressing associated issues. One of my favorite parts was at the end of each episode, they included short interviews with people on the street. Each week was a different question about beauty, or self-confidence, or what makes a person shine, all questions brought up and dealt with during the drama.

The characters were pretty convincing, and I especially enjoyed watching the interactions between Mine-sensei, his father, and his roommate, as well as everyone at the office and all their drama. The music wasn't much to speak of, but it was ok. This has a good rewatch value in my opinion. The mood was light-hearted, yet the drama had a lot of content that was seriously addressed, and I think I could get more out of it by watching it again.

I was surprised that I liked this drama since I hate the plastic surgery theme and I would never do it myself. I first thought that this drama was supposed to make plastic surgery sound good or find excuses for it but that wasn't the case at all. Don't be mislead by it.

The acting was great, here I compliment Ayano Go and Kitano Kii especially. I also liked their characters the most.

I think this drama has a storyline for everyone. They managed to fit quite a few different characters into it, even if it is only 8 episodes long. They could have just as well made it longer, I wouldn't have minded.

I really liked the theme song, but apart from that there's not much to say.

Also, the little "interviews" with people on the streets at the end of every episode were very cute.

I'm just saying that everyone should give this a try, even though I know that it's not everyone's taste.
And you should especially watch it if you like bromance. I mean, that's what made me start it. ;)

Дорама приглянулась сюжетом, потому что о медицине всегда интересно, а о пластической - отдельный бонус. И правда - сюжеты серий не подкачали, были показаны разные случаи, причем зачастую о таком и не задумаешься, например, когда близняшка не хочет быть похожей на сестру или когда придурошная мать (другого слова и не подберу) настаивает на операцию второго века своей маленькой дочери. Интересны показана работа врачей с клиентами, причем не стали зашкаливать пафоса, а решили не приукрашать эту область медицины - платность, коммерциализацию и модность в обществе. Конечно, в легкую, но я рада, что сахарного сиропа и диферамбов пластике сильно не наблюдалось. В отличии от так сказать, романтической линии дорамы: внезапный роман главных героев - молодого врача и врача-женщины в браке,да с ребенком, старше Ггероя. Роман был, слова любви были, но общество сказало нафиг - Гг ответили окей. В общем, жена и мать вернулась в семью, пафос-пафос...
