Satisfying Image
The Asadas are a family we all want to be, close and silly. This movie carries that satisfying mix of slice of life, comedy, and drama.
I, as a photographer, could relate to what the main character had to face on his journey of taking images.
I really enjoyed the acting as well as the writing for this movie. I felt like I was really watching a family through several years of their lives. I was on their emotional roller coaster and thoroughly enjoying it. I even caught myself smiling without realizing I was.
This story did take a swift turn, but it was a great change in perspective on the purpose of taking photographs. Photographs are not just made to hang at an exhibition, but great tools for remembering those moments we miss. Photographers create what they wish to see and through the lens we see what matters to us.
I wholeheartedly would rewatch this and recommend it to all!

It's not your typical "follow your dreams" show
At first, I thought this is going to be another typical "dreams come true" story, boy was I wrong. What makes this unique is that it's inspired by true story. I'd love to meet a family like that, how fun are they!?Firstly, it is a unique perspective to be seeing family photos like this in the "art scene". I mean, most award winning photographs we often see are like nature, still photograph, or just anything but something that looks like a "family photo album". Yet, this man did it.
Secondly, it shows us how important photos can be. In digital world where taking photos are so easy, the art is sometimes taken for granted. Yet, when one's family got hit by Tsunami, suddenly these photos become precious moments that are left. I really love how ML took the photo for the little girls' family. That really got me choked up in tears.
Thirdly, it teaches us to continue showing up. If no one wants to publish you, do your own exhibition. All it takes is one person to spot you. But, it takes showing up consistently. This actually reminds me a little bit of La La Land
Overall, it's really worth watching. It's so healing, touching and inspiring.
Honestly to me, this is more about family love than following your dream per se, although that's big part of the show
