Both are historical dramas and the story revolves around political intrigues. The friendship between the male protagonists is really strong and both are in love with the same girl.

Both are historical dramas with backstabbing and political intrigue. The bromance in both dramas are strong and overshadow the romance. However, the romance in Hwarang is more prominent compared to My Country, so if you're looking for a romantic historical drama, this might not be the fit for you. Nonetheless, both are amazing dramas, and I would recommend My Country.

They both are bromance.
They both were great frienship but even though they were in diffrent sides they still cared for each other.
They both were friends and then rivals.

It seems both dramas represent same period in history. Also, never ending throne war is a common point. My Country gives me same vibes as Scarlet Heart Ryeo.

Similarities:

- Both stories have a very similar feel to them, involving family, friendship and revenge.

- Both MLs fathers left a big impression and set an example to ML, and they were both wronged by the people in power. But in Rebel ML's father is more present during the story.

- Both dramas have a theme of brotherhood, brothers in arms who fight for ML and are ride or die for him.

- Both MLs have very strong loving relationships with their biological siblings.

- Both dramas include a person the ML deeply cares about that sides with the opposing team. But in My Country this is more of a main issue with the 2ML while in Rebel this is more a side thing with 2FL.

- Both include an evil parental figure that despises the ML and his family and are responsible for a lot of MLs' horrible situation.

- Both stories include a conflicted gray character that has inner struggle whether to join ML's cause or not. But in My Country this character is the 2ML, Sun Ho and in Rebel this character is a side character, Mori. In some ways Sun Ho is a what if Mori was a lead instead of a side character? Also Sun Ho has a deep complicated loving friendship with ML whereas Mori's relationship with ML revolves around mututal respect and understanding of their respective situations.

Main Differences:

- Plot.

- Struggling bromance. In My Country the main driving force of the story is the broken bromance between Hwi and Sun Ho. The main driving bromance in Rebel almost never wavers.

-My Country is more tragic, The Rebel still has its fair share of tragic elements but it's way lighter.

- My Country's characters live more in the gray area. You can see they're more complicated and suffer through their decisions to take the less terrible option. In Rebel things are more straightforward (black and white). While characters are flawed and well written, you can always tell who is on the right side and who is on the wrong side.

Bromance, Political Struggle, Romance. These two shows have unforgettable bonds, action packed plots, and amazing choreography.

Both are set on developing South Korea and stepping into a new era

The trio meeting scene had the same vibe. 2 friends falling for one girl, then running away together from hooligans and the betrayal of friendship
Now for me in my country sunho was right while hwi was wrong. But here it's obviously the other way around

Both shows:
> Focused heavy on the relationship of two brothers (one of them blood-related, the other sworn brothers). That relationship, however, becomes rocky as the brothers find themselves fighting on different sides; ending up meeting each other in battle.
> The Second Male Lead (one of the brothers) ends up struggling to find their place and, as a result, face plenty of identity crisis. Their painful journey is very heartwrenching, but the result is that they end up stealing the show with their amazing performances.
> Have an antagonistic parental figure.
> Female leads are good, but their impact and contribution to the show is minimal.
> Have a small side-plot of romance.
> Male Leads end up going to war and finding a click, becoming the leader of their group of misfits.
> Second Male Leads end up going to war and struggle not to be stabbed in the back. They end up losing hope, but attain one loyal man (their sidekick).
> Male Leads end up giving their loyalty to a man who's trying to change the nation.

My Country is heavy on the action and bromance and less on the politics, which I think Faith can be comparable to that plus their approach to this genre is so unique. The number of episodes in Faith may be a bit draggy, but overall it's really a solid drama.

· Same strong bromance between the leads in both dramas.
· The cinematography and acting in both of them is excellent.
· The plots are not too similar, but in both dramas the characters are complex and not perfect in any way.
· Fangs of Fortune has both enemies to friends & friends to enemies, My Country is mainly friends to enemies to friends. While in FoF the leads start in different sides but end up in the same side, in My Country the leads are childhood friends that by different circumstances end up fighting in opposites sides of the war.
· Same type of heartache for the characters.
· Both dramas are hard to forget when you finish them.

Both dramas are about the rise of Lee Bang Won. He is main lead / main story in "King of Tears", while "My Country" has other main leads (2 young guys) but historical events are same and though as SML Lee Bang Won is one of most memorable, important and deep character.

Mr. Plankton is similar to My Country of the New Age in many ways. Hae-joo's character, like Seon-ho, was full of pain that she hid behind her smiles. Both of them were full of goodness and kindness but pretended to be evil, hiding their beautiful inner selves behind a mask of evil and malice. Only in the hope of being able to protect their loved ones. Both of them thought they hated their fathers who pushed them away, while they wanted to be with their fathers with all their being and be loved by them. Their fathers were also similar to each other. Fathers who truly loved their children but perhaps didn't know how to express it properly and expressed their love for their children too late. Jae-mi was also a bit like Ho-yi. Both of them initially misinterpreted Seon-ho and Hae-joo's behaviors and pushed away the ones they loved more than anyone, but eventually realized their pure intentions and love.

Both shows have smart leads scheming to rule or control the country, or just survive. They are also both costume dramas with a lot of attention paid to the politics of life in the royal court. Everyone has a plan and the male lead is always inevitably pulled into the intrigue.
