The drama series is based on classic Chinese novel “Journey to the West,” but reinterprets the story into the present day and has a romantic-fantasy twist.
Raccomandato da The Cupids Arrow
Both dramas involve a supernatural/ fantasy aspect. There is a ghost in Chicago Typewriter and demons/ deities/ spirits in A Korean Odyssey. There are also a few scenes of the Japanese occupation in A Korean Odyssey. Both dramas also have a similar feeling and tone when you watch them.
Raccomandato da esha
Both female leads see supernatural beings. They also both involve possession. The dramas also have a good comedy aspect along with the romance.
Raccomandato da esha
This is another magical drama. Everything happens between life and death, enemies and friends. A couple also belonging to South Korean mythology. And the male protagonist at every sign of love suffers from deep pain. He who should kill her is the one who will give his life to save her.

Both are based on the tales of Journey to the West. The Journey to the west is closer to the original story and funnier. I also find the Sun Wo Kong here is more active like a monkey, funnier, smarter and real troublemaker than Hwayugi. If you really really like the tale Journey to the West and Sun Wo Kong, I really recommend you to watch this. Even though this drama is old, this is truly a masterpiece.

However, if you want more mellow and romance then choose Hwayugi.

I think both are good in different perspective.
Raccomandato da Dandelion
Both are about monsters/immortal beings. Bulgasal is more action/drama focused with a much darker overall tone whereas a korean odyssey is more fluffy but still touches on subjects such as death and the ups and downs when mortals meet with immortals.
Raccomandato da Emma
Both dramas have a similar humor regardless of the fantastic/horror overall theme. In both drama you find yourself trembling in fear one second then the next moment you're laughing out loud.

This has the same feel and reminded me of Hanson and the Beast, both are action packed fantasties. Where the ML in this is a punished deity monkey in H&B it is the FL as a Silver Fox, both are desperately trying to stay alive and protect their human love and both end up nearly dying in the process with both there human loves prepared to sacrifice themselves in order to save their magical loves and trying to escape a higher authority, only difference being in H&B the silver fox FL ends up being saved from the demons chasing them by the human ML and both live but in the KO the FL ends up sacrificing herself and dies in order to save her monkey ex-deity s-o-g who survives but loses his memories of his now dead love who end up granted 24 hours by the gods to return in order to help him restore his memories and once he did he leaves the human world and goes to the netherworld to search for his ghostly love.
Raccomandato da Kim Skippings
"I want to eat you" but I need you. Almost the same premise. it's just that now, it is Lee Seung Gi's turn to "crave" his one true love.

In 2017, Son Oh Gong and Ma Wang are in conflict with each other as they look for a true light in a dark world where evil thrives. Having made a contract with Seon Mi 25 years ago, entitling her to seek help from Son Oh Gong whenever she calls him in exchange for letting him free, the two meet again in a fateful encounter. From there, Son Oh Gong is bound to his protective role towards Seon Mi, the little girl he had met years ago.
Raccomandato da Farhana Akhter
Both are based on Chinese novels
Both are painful but you cannot help yourself but be enthralled by the plot, OST, acting, cinematography and the tragic love of the main leads.
They both have supernatural elements(one less than the other but still)
The supporting characters stories are really interesting and add to the main story
Raccomandato da kasumii
- They're both connected of fighthing evil spirits though in wu xin theres no collecting points to become a deity

The plot is different as SP is set in varsity while AKO is set in the workplace.

Similarities:
In both dramas, the FL first met the ML when they were younger and then they meet again as adults.

The ML falls for the FL as a result of some supernatural force at first.
Raccomandato da Fexchie
A tale of love and adventure between an immortal fox and an artisan goddess. An eternal love that will face enemies in heaven and on earth.

Although in A Korean Odyssey the supernatural character is the male lead and in Rattan it’s the female protagonist who is the supernatural being, the relationship between the leads is somewhat similar and watching Rattan reminded me of KO. I think If you really liked one of them you should give the other a try :)
