The Royal Gambler (2016)

Features the same King Sukjong ( played by Yoo Ah in ), the next king son of Jang Ok jung and King Yeongjo , his other son

Both are very game based. The characters are continuously faced with games (which relate to their current problems in the plot) and need to find a way to solve them (to move forward with the story; save someone or themselves, get something, etc).

The two main male leads fighting for the throne and the main antagonist runs the evil organization that controls the people.

The Royal Gambler is about King Yeongjo's early life and his succession to the throne and The Throne has the events that came later in his life.

Both dramas have both the main male leads as brothers but both characters don't know that they are brothers. Both the father and mentor of the main character for both dramas was played by the same actors. Finally, both dramas are about avenging the death of a father, but also becoming the true king that the people of Joseon deserve.

Both dramas are about unconventional heroes trying to save the people from a corrupted king, so many twists and turns, keep you guessing what will happen next.
