Fabricated City (2017)

First let me give you my honest overall thoughts on this movie : even after several rewatches it remains one of the best thrillers I've seen. It's dark, it's brutal, and you will never get tired of Ji Chang-wook, because he's perfect for this role!

This movie was so gripping and real adrenaline rush the whole imprisonment aspect (for angst lovers this movie is a must watch) especially how dark they got at times it was all excellent, even the hallucinations.

I liked the premise, a bunch of gamers, of different ages and genders band together to fight for the main lead, who is wrongfully accused of a murder. But the thing is the first part feels different from the second half almost. I feel like they were trying to get the feel of shows like Gotham because the villain was clearly Penguin inspired but it wasn't executed as well.

And it's not exactly realistic because the hero will frequently do insane action after getting the kind of injuries that should have got him completely unable to do anything. But Shim Eun Kyeong looks hot!!! But MOST action thrillers movies or books, Hollywood or otherwise, do this, they don't do realistic injuries or realistic anything, and this is one of those. My point is I'm not an idiot lol I see plot holes and other issues but for movies like this where they cast my favorite actors, I can easily overlook all that. Every movie is different.

But I have to say that prison part was very messed up, so might not be for everyone.

Anyway, so yes, if you can deal with the darkness, this is an excellent watch.

Very crazy movie. Ji Chang Wook is a great actor. I mean ... let's be honest, this was INTENSE. I wonder why people are complaining about character development. I don't think this movie was really the type who wanted to explore different personalities. The action was great, the direction, the production - superb. The story nothing new, at least I have seen something like this before. I was constantly wondering why Ji Chang Wook was considered their "leader" when everyone else had great skills (hacking, building drones), the main lead's skill was driving a car and saving others. But well, it was a two hours action packed movie and, like I said, it was not supposed to be a character study. At least I didn't feel like something was missing. I enjoyed every second. The villain was over the top, but in a good way. It's a while since I got so shocked and excited because of a movie. Hollywood could learn something from Korea.

An addicting movie

Being an impatient person, i continuously skip scenes when i get bored. This is the first movie i watched without skipping even one scene.
The story line is mesmerising. The depth in story line is beyond words. The acting is feels so real. They actually express the feelings and emotions in a very realistic way. You actually feel like you are in the movie.
This movie is stuffed with entertainment and so ahead of it's time. The fights, the car chase, the technology stuff, everything was so fascinating. I couldn't take my eyes off even for a second.

Ji Chang Wook is a fantastic actor, of course he did a wonderful job in this one as well. Actually all the other actors did great too. Shim Eun Kyung, the female lead is also a great actress. This movie was great from the beginning to the end.

In my opinion, this is one of the best movies i have ever seen. I would love to watch the movie again and again

I saw this mve becoz of Ji Chang Wook. I like the manipulative organization in this mve. Acting is on point. No romance here. Its a little dark theme. But very nicely done with the mve. The cast acted very well.

I still don't understand what the title meant. I thought "Fabricated crime" would be an apt title as it describes the plot. Kim Sang Ho acted as a side villan here which surprised me becoz i only saw him in roles of comedian, kind person. I couldn't take seriously his actions becoz of his previous drama effect. I would have liked a little romance b/n the hacker girl and Wook but that's my opinion.

All in all its a good mve to watch on a summer evening worth 8.6/10.

I liked this film because it has amazing visuals, excellent action,
mind-boggling thrills and a watertight script. It's a film targeted at
youth like us and that's another reason why I enjoyed it very much.

The film's excellence is visible from the very first scene: it's the
best part of the film in my opinion. As the film progresses, it turns
out to be something extremely surprising. If you've seen the trailer
you might be having great expectations from this film, and happily it
doesn't disappoint.

Ji Chang-wook fits in the lead role and does an excellent job. Same for
the rest of the cast, especially his friends and the antagonists.

The visuals are breathtaking, and the action scenes are "explosive".
The editing is decent and some dialogues are memorable.

FABRICATED CITY is an impressive action thriller which will be liked
more by the youth than any other audience.

Filme surpreendente

Foi um filme surpreendente. A vida do protagonista virou de cabeça para baixo após uma simples devolução de celular.
As cenas na prisão foram atormentadoras; ele foi perseguido, espancado e seu psicológico estava sendo destruído aos poucos. Ji Chang Wook passou muito bem todos os sentimentos de angústia do seu personagem.

Foi uma montanha russa de emoções, e quem gosta de filme de ação vai amar esse. O elenco é top e a história é muito interessante.
Eu gostei da reviravolta e me surpreendi com quem era cada jogador na “vida real”.
A ajuda deles foi essencial, quando descobriram o que estava por trás de toda aquela confusão que causou a prisão perpétua do Kwon Yoo e tentam provar a sua inocência, é aí que tudo pegou fogo mesmo e surpreendeu demais.

E para fechar... só acho que deviam ter mostrado a história de vida da hacker também(fiquei curiosa pra saber como ela chegou naquele nível de vida).

Oh, this was fun. I love action movies and really good chase scenes. Fabricated City has several to spare. FC is nothing like I thought it might be from reading the description. It is a lot more grittier and realistic than I expected. If Ji Chang Wook, was trying to rid himself of the pretty boy image in order to move into meatier roles, he certainly found the right vehicle. I found the prison scenes especially surprising.

In a nutshell, Freeter/NEET (whatever you want to call him) Kwon Yoo finds himself beautifully set up for a murder. Like most NEETs he spends most of his day playing online MMOs. He is the chief or leader of a raid party in what appears to be his favorite MMO. There is a fantastic scene that takes place in the game. Honestly, I thought this would be on the level of certain animes that have people possibly stuck in their games like BTOOM! or even Log Horizon. It's not. The production team did a very good job introducing the game and the real world. They make it clear this is no fantasy. His team come from behind their computers to help prove his innocence. Because of that I found the story somewhat original.

The cast is great. JCW did a very good job as Kwon Yoo, especially once he realized he needed to toughen up and protect himself to survive. The cast has some of my favorite Korean character/supporting actors like Oh Jung Se (recently in Missing 9), Kim Sang Ho (Missing 9, TEN), and Kim Won Hae (currently seen in Strong Woman DBS). Woo Hyun also has a small weird role that fit him perfectly. The cast did a fine job. They had chemistry, whether be it friendly or hatred. The connections were there.

The music was good. It helped at excitement and tension at the right places. I don't remember any actual songs, but, to be honest, one would have been out of place.

I would definitely watch this again. I hope that Netflix gets it soon so there can be actual subs timed correctly. That's right I watched a version lacking subs and what subs there were were poorly timed AND I still recommend it!

First of all I am bad at writing reviews but this movie needs to be appreciated properly so I will give it a shot.

The plot is perfect. The title of the movie is fabricated city for a reason and like literally. All the connections of the rich people, how far it can lead to get away with a crime and make an innocent man guilty. Fabricated movie has a nice flow and has actual explanations of how things happen without leaving plot holes which is very important part which most of movies lack. Movie without plot holes is GOLD. Rare and when found appreciated and loved.
No surprise that Ji Chang Wook is great action actor, I have noticed few other actors that always give a pleasant feeling in dramas or movies of how natural they come out so actor choice was great in this movie. Music and soundtracks were on point I rarely complain about them in movies. Rewatch value is very high I might rewatch it with friends within the same week.
